Welcome to the Duncan Villa

Throughout the night, Matthew made sure that he was checking up on Mike and soon it was morning.

Mike slowly opened his eyes and caught sight of Matthew in the same position he was in last night.

"Child, you're awake," Matthew said, sounding tired.

Knock! Knock!

The knock caught their attention even before Mike could respond to his grandfather.

The knock on the door shook Paul because it was still very early. He stood to check who it was. "Good morning, Doctor Bryan." He greeted

After they exchanged greetings with the doctor, the Doctor moved closer to Mike and asked, "How are you feeling this morning?" He pointed a penlight into his eyes, checking for any injury or illness by seeing how his pupils responded to light.

"I'm feeling much better, Dr," Mike responded, causing the Doctor to nod before checking Mike's head injury.

He smiled warmly and turned to Matthew; “He'll be discharged today,” Dr. Bryan said before leaving the room.

“I'm glad that you can finally come home to where you belong, son.” He informed causing Mike to smile faintly,

"Thank you..." Mike growled as he stretched in bed. In a few minutes, Paul walked back into the room. He whispered into the old man's ear,

"Child, we can leave now," He said and helped Mike up from the bed. They exited the hospital and walked outside to see a long black Lincoln limousine

Paul stood by the door of the car and said, "Sir, the car is ready. "

Mike turned to Matthew in awe and asked, "Is this a real Lincoln? " Matthew chuckled softly, amused by Mike's innocence, and responded,

"The Duncan family only uses the best.” Mike got into the car with Matthew and examined the leather upholstery. The luxurious interior instantly fascinated him.

"Do you like it?" Matthew suddenly asked, causing Mike to nod his head, smiling warmly

"The car is yours now." He said.

“What? It’s now mine?” Mike asked again to confirm; he couldn’t believe his ears.

“Yes, son. Not only this, there's a lot more, across the country and abroad.” Matthew responded, causing Mike’s eyes to widen in amazement. This was a car he wouldn’t dream of entering and now, he owns it.

“Woah!” He said with a smile on his face, he couldn’t hide his joy, and the old man was pleased to see the smile on Mike’s face

“You should better start getting used to a luxurious lifestyle because you’ll soon be the heir of the Duncan family,” Matthew informed.

“The heir of Duncan conglomerates?” He couldn't believe his ears. He has always heard about Duncan conglomerates and he knows that they are at the top on the rank of conglomerates in the continent.

“Yes son and this car is just a very small part of your inheritance” He added causing Mike to instantly turn to face Matthew

“What? You’re calling this small?” He asked surprised.

“There’s more wealth that awaits you, child. This is just very small,” He nonchalantly replied.

Mike chuckled softly, he couldn’t help but think that he was dreaming, “I hope this dream never ends.” He thought. The idea of this being reality was hard for him to digest.

Still trying to take it all in, Paul said, “Young master, please go through these documents” Mike took the documents from him and as he went through them, Paul informed

“The companies listed on the two documents are owned by your family,” Mike furrowed his brows before turning to face his grandfather, then he gazed down at the documents in his hand, confused.

As he went through them, feeling dumbfounded, he gazed at the names of the companies he saw, they were all top-tier companies that everyone in the country and abroad knew of.

As he flipped the pages, his eyes widened in shock when he saw a particular company on the list, “Double Tech, that’s the company I work for!” Mike exclaimed in shock.

“Do you own all these companies grandpa?” Mike asked. He was stunned the moment he saw that the company he worked for was among the list of companies that his family owned.

Matthew smiled mischievously and explained, “These companies are supposed to be inherited by your father but unfortunately, he died at an early age”

Mike paused; this was the first time anyone had ever mentioned anything about his father; he dropped the papers on his thigh and asked, “What happened to my mom and dad? Why did I grow up in an orphanage? I don’t know anything about them.” His curiosity took the best of him, and he wanted his grandfather to answer his questions.

“Hmm.” The old man sighed and sat up.

“Your parents were in love and happy, son. They loved you dearly,” He said with his gaze on his hand

“If they loved me then why did they abandon me? I’ve been suffering in the streets; I’ve been humiliated! And here is my family background. One of the top richest in the country.” Mike was in pain as he thought of how he was treated. Not only by his colleagues and people around him but also by his wife.

“They didn’t abandon you, son.” Matthew let out a long sigh before saying, “23 years ago, when you were only 4 months old, your parents went on a trip...” He paused and shook his head,

“It was supposed to be a joyful journey, but unfortunately, things turned out differently.” Mike noticed the way Matthew’s brows twitched as he explained what happened; it was obvious that it was a difficult story for the old man to tell.

“I can still remember that day vividly like it was yesterday,”

“What happened?” Mike inquired, getting impatient.

“Your parents were involved in a terrible accident; I still strongly believe that it was orchestrated by one of our rival families.” He said and bent his head in grief.

“Where was I? Did I go on the trip too?” Mike asked,

“Yes, you went with them on that trip, but we searched and searched for your body on the scene and you were nowhere to be found. Ever since that day, I kept on searching, believing that you’ll still be alive” He responded and immediately raised his head to gaze at Mike, smiling warmly

“If only you knew how it warms my heart to see you again. To know that you’re alive and I can finally take care of you,” He said with tears of joy welling up in his eyes.

Mike took his grandfather’s hand and held him tightly, trying to comfort him. “I’m glad you found me too,” He said, causing the old man to grin.

The car drove towards the gate of a villa. Mike was immediately memorized by it, “This is breathtaking. Is this my new home?” He couldn’t help but ask.

“Yes, young master,” Paul responded. The Greek stylist building that seemed to reach up to the sky was unbelievably Mike’s new home.

“And it’s just an outbuilding,” Paul added.
