"Stop!" The voice thundered across the hallway, causing them to stop their strides. They all turned their gaze and saw Hugh, a short middle-aged man with a few grey hairs and a questioning fashion style, dressed in a night robe in the middle of the day.
He slowly approached them, glaring and shifting his gaze between them until it finally landed on Yura, staring at her angrily"No one is moving this man anywhere", he instructed authoritatively,"Why?" Yura asked confused"Why?" Hugh repeated"Because it appears you all are trying to kill Lord Duncan so you can steal his wealth","Why else will you be moving him outside in the middle of the day with the scorching heat of the sun when you know his condition is critical and he needs to remain rested?" the man assertedImmediately, Yura became enraged over his statement and display of authority. If anyone were to decide anything concerning her grandfather's health and well-being, she was the one.He had no right to insinuate such discrepancies and held no authority to dictate what they did to save him, especially after Lord Duncan had saved his life.Hugh was a distant nephew of Lord Duncan, who came into his home about three years ago after his wife had divorced and kicked him out in the streets. He was penniless and hopeless, with nowhere else to turn to when he arrived at Lord Duncan's estate. Yura could remember that night vividly. Her grandfather had the servants prepare a bath for him, dinner and then assigned him one of the rooms in the estate. The following morning, Hugh begged her grandfather for a job, and Lord Duncan was kind enough to offer him the position of Director in his company, a job that was promised to Yura when she came of age.How could he insinuate such hurtful allegations at her now, knowing fully that she allowed him to take what was rightfully hers?Although he was unqualified and incapable, Yura still convinced her grandfather to pay him even though he did nothing at the job other than bearing the title just because he was his relative. She insisted and convinced her grandfather that families helped each other out.She was furious and averted her gaze at the man, furrowing her brows at him"Kill him?!" she bellowed"Did you really suggest we are trying to kill my grandfather, Mr Hugh?" She asked, moving confidently towards him"I am the only grandchild my grandfather has; why would I ever have it in my intentions to harm the man who raised me all my life?","What sense does it make that I would go to lengths to hire doctors and physicians only to kill my beloved grandfather?!" She yelled angrily. It had been an emotionally draining day for the family of Lord Duncan, and it appeared Hugh had gotten on her last nerve, and she finally broke down."I am his only grandchild!" She exclaimed, her voice starting to break from the ordeal"Do you know what that means, Mr Hugh?" She asked, trying to compose herself, but the middle-aged man did not respond"That means that eventually, I am still the heir of all his fortune. When my grandfather is finally gone, I get all his wealth. So tell me why I would want him dead now?!" Yura exclaimed angrily, holding back her tearsHugh remained undeterred. He stared at Yura scornfully and said,"I do not care what or who you think you are, I am older than you, and I am in command of the affairs of this household","I instruct that no one moves the Lord. My decision is final," he said coldly, staring directly at Yura's eyes in a display of authority.Dennis frowned, seeing that Yura was going to cry and that Hugh was being unreasonable; he quickly interjected and walked up to him with authority in his steps.Standing face to face with Hugh, he smirked"You…" Hugh said, recognizing Dennis' face"It's bad that we keep meeting on these terms Mr Hugh", Dennis said with a smug look"What is so funny?" Hugh said, slowly aggravated, and Dennis held up his index finger, confusing everyone around."Follow the finger", he said, motioning his finger side to side slowly in front of Hugh. The man scoffed but unconsciously stared at the finger and, in no time, dropped to the ground.Yura and Kuza moved back in shock, frightened over what they had just witnessed"What the hell was that?!" Kuza exclaimed"Oh, that. It's a little trick I picked up" "He seemed tired, so I just put him to sleep", Dennis said, turning to face the girls"Okay. But what exactly did you do to him?" Yura asked, regaining her composure"Hypnotism. It's quite easy to do to anyone once you've mastered it," Dennis said proudly, his face brimming"Now, if that has been sorted. Let's get Lord Duncan to the yard""Time is not something we have much", he added, walking away. The female guard pushed Yura's grandfather, following them closely behind as they walked through the hallway, their footfalls sounding rhythmically in synch, approaching the yard. When they reached, Dennis instructed her to wheel him to the middle, where the sun's rays were more intense. He rubbed his palms together, ripped open Duncan's shirt and began to massage his stomach. A few moments later, Lord Duncan's body began to shake vigorously, and a black fog appeared, engulfing them.Yura, the nurse and the guard stepped back, frightened but unable to avert their eyes from seeing what was happening, particularly Kuza.In one afternoon, she had seen the strangest things that her knowledge of science could not explain, but this trumped it.Naturally curious, she moved closer, although carefully and examined her patient more closely, still in shock. And then suddenly, Lord Duncan vomited blood, but what was most bizarre was that the blood was black and contained some insects.Kuza and Yura screamed when they saw the insects in Lord Duncan's blood and jumped back in fear. However, Dennis remained unmoved. This was nothing new to him, and a few seconds later, the insects turned to smoke and disappeared into the air.Immediately, Lord Duncan sat up abruptly, gasping as his eyes widened and he became conscious again.Without thinking for long, Yura ran towards him and hugged him, crying tears of joy. The sight warmed Dennis's heart as he stepped away, allowing them ample time to reconnect."What happened?" Lord Duncan asked, and his granddaughter looked at him with tears in her eyes. She hugged him again and cried,"I'm so glad you're awake, Grandpa", she said and looked over at Dennis heartilyMeanwhile, Hugh awoke in the hallway and looked around, nursing a slight headache he got when he fell.He wondered what he was doing on the floor in the middle of the hallway and then suddenly recalled what had happened.Immediately he panicked, fearing that Yura had go
When Duncan mentioned Dennis's ex-wife, his countenance changed. He gave Duncan a wry smile and said"That won't be necessary, my Lord, she divorced me", Dennis said, and Lord Duncan was greatly shocked, as he wondered what kind of girl in her right mind would leave Dennis. However, when Nurse Kuza heard that Dennis was divorced, she felt greatly relieved and could not conceal her happiness. "What happened between you two?" Lord Duncan asked as the nurse pushed him slowly on the stretcher, accompanied by his granddaughter. "I don't think it's something I want to talk about anymore," Dennis said softly."Of course, I understand. Well, thank you again, Mr Apollo", Duncan retorted, and Dennis gave a courteous nod"I would like to take my leave now. I need to get some rest; I haven't had enough of that recently," Dennis said, and Lord Duncan smiled"Alright, Mr Apollo", "Yura", he called his granddaughter "Please see to it that Mr Apollo is well compensated and take him back home", Du
Engaged in the standoff, Dennis brimmed as he saw the terrified look on Jack's face. He was very confident that he could take on Jack's thugs with his level of mastery in martial arts. However, Yura's bodyguards brought a more gratifying dread into Jack's body, and he did not have to expose his martial arts skills. He took a swig of his beer, breathed out its freshness and stared at Jack, making circles with his finger around the condensed bottle.Suddenly, he felt the bottle begin to freeze up, and then he snapped out of the trance. Slowly, he approached Jack, who was hiding behind a blockade of his thugs. Dennis smiled wryly at them, trying hard to remain composed, even as their whole body exuded fear. He sneered at them and said boldly "As you can see, Jack, I'm not as powerless as you thought."Jack gulped and bit his lips, trembling in fear"You trespass my home and bring your thugs to beat me up? You do know whatever happens now is entirely legal and all your fault", Dennis s
"What?" Dennis asked, alarmed, rushing towards her.He saw her standing near his ceramic monkey's paw, gazing at it in awe"Be careful with that," he said hurriedly and pushed her backwards. Yura glanced around the space, enthralled by the display"What is all these?" She asked, gazing at the various antiquated objects and talismans in the room."Wait, is that the tooth of the sabretooth tiger from Xiangchaun?" She asked, approaching it. Yura was a historian, and a collector of various historical artefacts rumoured to hold great powers and curses. Stumbling into Dennis's collections was like a tour through a museum for her.She turned to him sharply, her face contorted into a deep curiosity"Some of these artefacts were rumoured to be lost for years; how did you get all these?" Yura asked with a piercing concern."You don't seem like a collector. So where did you get them from?"Just then, Dennis's phone conveniently rang, saving him from having to answer the question. In truth, he wa
"I'm sorry. Did I hear you say no?" Yura asked, appalled and watched as he walked away. She stopped midstride briefly, trying to discern why he would give up on such an amazing opportunity. Lord Duncan was the wealthiest man in the city; anyone would be lucky to work for him, especially with how much he paid his workers.Yura allowed a few moments to pass and then went after Dennis"You've not even heard the details of the job," she reasoned, hoping to sway his mind"And I don't need to," Dennis riposted sharply A scoff escaped Yura's mouth. If she didn't know better, she would've thought Dennis was playing hard to get, so they would offer him more benefits and higher pay.Yura had to admit, he was driving a tough bargain so far. And come to think of it, he wasn't a typical doctor, a man with gifts such as he deserved to be paid much higher. She looked at him and decided to play along. Yura smiled faintly, hastened towards him and grabbed his hand"One million dollars a month", she
Dennis headed towards the toolshed in his backyard. He checked his watch and saw that it was 5 p.m.According to the books he read while on the island, the setting sun provided energy that was in sync with the rise of the moon. Practicing the special arts at this moment meant that one was at the peak of their energy field.Dennis House in Glendale had an outdoor toolshed a few metres away from the house, connected by a paved pathway with lush and green vegetation.Having been away for three years, these eddishes had overgrown, creating narrow walkway-like hedges to the toolshed.Dennis found this the perfect place to perform Jangi. The toolshed had an overhead glass roof, exposing it directly to the energy of the sun and the moon.As he walked through the narrow pavement, the droplets of rain formed a bubble around him, and the puddles on the ground were pushed away by the energy exuding him. This was a level of Sul only a few people could perform, where a great master could push aw
"You want me back?" Dennis exclaimed, unable to believe his ears. Letting out a breath, Dennis crossed his arms and then adjusted, trying to adjust to the thoughts in his mind. He stepped backwards and glanced at Sasha again, trying to digest his shock."Wh-what?!" Dennis's voice echoed through the room"You divorced me!" He exclaimed annoyedSeeing the frustration in Dennis's eyes, Sasha regretted her choice of words, but it was too late to take it back. "I made a mistake with you, I see it now","I didn't want to leave you, Dennis. I love you", Dennis scoffed "You love me? Do you hear how ridiculous you sound?", "If you've already forgotten, let me jog your memory; you were terrible to me, despite everything I had done for you, you threw me out of the house", "My mother threw you out of our house, not me," Sasha said and threw up her arm,"She is responsible for everything that went wrong between us. She convinced me to sign the divorce papers",Dennis stood there without talki
"Hello," she called softlyDennis blinked her into view but still could not believe she was standing in front of him.Tried as he did, he could not discern any reason why she was standing in front of him. As she continued to stare at her, he was at a loss for words. He felt his heart beating faster and his stomach felt warmer. She wore a tight lacy skirt that exposed a little bit of her thighs, with a white blouse that elegantly displayed her shoudlers, and Converse high tops. Her hair flowed graciously over her shoulders. It had been a while since Dennis had felt this much of a rush.Seeing her the other day at the Lord's mansion, he had not paid much attention to her looks; the white coveralls she wore hid her lustrous beauty and curves."Kuza?" Dennis managed to say, appalled, still enchanted by her sight. He glanced at her bare shoulders and quickly averted his eyes. She smiled at him courteously,"Hello, Mr. Apollo", Her voice soothing and enticing Dennis looked around uncomfor
