Magic Hands

"Stop!" The voice thundered across the hallway, causing them to stop their strides. They all turned their gaze and saw Hugh, a short middle-aged man with a few grey hairs and a questioning fashion style, dressed in a night robe in the middle of the day.

He slowly approached them, glaring and shifting his gaze between them until it finally landed on Yura, staring at her angrily

"No one is moving this man anywhere", he instructed authoritatively,

"Why?" Yura asked confused

"Why?" Hugh repeated

"Because it appears you all are trying to kill Lord Duncan so you can steal his wealth",

"Why else will you be moving him outside in the middle of the day with the scorching heat of the sun when you know his condition is critical and he needs to remain rested?" the man asserted

Immediately, Yura became enraged over his statement and display of authority.

If anyone were to decide anything concerning her grandfather's health and well-being, she was the one.

He had no right to insinuate such discrepancies and held no authority to dictate what they did to save him, especially after Lord Duncan had saved his life.

Hugh was a distant nephew of Lord Duncan, who came into his home about three years ago after his wife had divorced and kicked him out in the streets.

He was penniless and hopeless, with nowhere else to turn to when he arrived at Lord Duncan's estate. Yura could remember that night vividly.

Her grandfather had the servants prepare a bath for him, dinner and then assigned him one of the rooms in the estate.

The following morning, Hugh begged her grandfather for a job, and Lord Duncan was kind enough to offer him the position of Director in his company, a job that was promised to Yura when she came of age.

How could he insinuate such hurtful allegations at her now, knowing fully that she allowed him to take what was rightfully hers?

Although he was unqualified and incapable, Yura still convinced her grandfather to pay him even though he did nothing at the job other than bearing the title just because he was his relative. She insisted and convinced her grandfather that families helped each other out.

She was furious and averted her gaze at the man, furrowing her brows at him

"Kill him?!" she bellowed

"Did you really suggest we are trying to kill my grandfather, Mr Hugh?" She asked, moving confidently towards him

"I am the only grandchild my grandfather has; why would I ever have it in my intentions to harm the man who raised me all my life?",

"What sense does it make that I would go to lengths to hire doctors and physicians only to kill my beloved grandfather?!" She yelled angrily. It had been an emotionally draining day for the family of Lord Duncan, and it appeared Hugh had gotten on her last nerve, and she finally broke down.

"I am his only grandchild!" She exclaimed, her voice starting to break from the ordeal

"Do you know what that means, Mr Hugh?" She asked, trying to compose herself, but the middle-aged man did not respond

"That means that eventually, I am still the heir of all his fortune. When my grandfather is finally gone, I get all his wealth. So tell me why I would want him dead now?!" Yura exclaimed angrily, holding back her tears

Hugh remained undeterred. He stared at Yura scornfully and said,

"I do not care what or who you think you are, I am older than you, and I am in command of the affairs of this household",

"I instruct that no one moves the Lord. My decision is final," he said coldly, staring directly at Yura's eyes in a display of authority.

Dennis frowned, seeing that Yura was going to cry and that Hugh was being unreasonable; he quickly interjected and walked up to him with authority in his steps.

Standing face to face with Hugh, he smirked

"You…" Hugh said, recognizing Dennis' face

"It's bad that we keep meeting on these terms Mr Hugh", Dennis said with a smug look

"What is so funny?" Hugh said, slowly aggravated, and Dennis held up his index finger, confusing everyone around.

"Follow the finger", he said, motioning his finger side to side slowly in front of Hugh. The man scoffed but unconsciously stared at the finger and, in no time, dropped to the ground.

Yura and Kuza moved back in shock, frightened over what they had just witnessed

"What the hell was that?!" Kuza exclaimed

"Oh, that. It's a little trick I picked up" "He seemed tired, so I just put him to sleep", Dennis said, turning to face the girls

"Okay. But what exactly did you do to him?" Yura asked, regaining her composure

"Hypnotism. It's quite easy to do to anyone once you've mastered it," Dennis said proudly, his face brimming

"Now, if that has been sorted. Let's get Lord Duncan to the yard"

"Time is not something we have much", he added, walking away.

The female guard pushed Yura's grandfather, following them closely behind as they walked through the hallway, their footfalls sounding rhythmically in synch, approaching the yard.

When they reached, Dennis instructed her to wheel him to the middle, where the sun's rays were more intense.

He rubbed his palms together, ripped open Duncan's shirt and began to massage his stomach. A few moments later, Lord Duncan's body began to shake vigorously, and a black fog appeared, engulfing them.

Yura, the nurse and the guard stepped back, frightened but unable to avert their eyes from seeing what was happening, particularly Kuza.

In one afternoon, she had seen the strangest things that her knowledge of science could not explain, but this trumped it.

Naturally curious, she moved closer, although carefully and examined her patient more closely, still in shock.

And then suddenly, Lord Duncan vomited blood, but what was most bizarre was that the blood was black and contained some insects.
