Chapter 5. Which Team Soldier?

The town had been quiet and calm since the battle with the Centipede Beast two hours ago.

Lucius and Kaylee decided to go to a tavern some distance away. The surroundings of the tavern never reached the Centipede Monster. Therefore, here, the condition is much safer.

Lucius and Kaylee chose to sit in one of the corner seats by the wall. Directly facing the window so Lucius could look out of the tavern.

Compared to the city arena where he had fought against the Centipede Monster, this city arena was much tidier. Lucius thought it was fun to find a place where there weren't any bodies lying around.

There's also no trace of a gruesome fight left.

"Excuse me, sir, miss, what would you like to order?"

Lucius flinched slightly. But he refrained from looking at the waiter and pulled the hood of his jacket even tighter. He pretended to act like someone was sick, clasping his arms folded across his chest.

After the video incident of his fight was spread, Lucius did not want to show his face. He had sworn, and of course told Kaylee.

Even though his face was blurred in the video, Lucius' worries were too great. Who knew that it turned out that people in other arenas could recognize him so easily?

"Two lattes and... do you want some teriyaki sauce potatoes too?" Kaylee asked Lucius.

Looking out the window of the tavern, Lucius nodded his head. His behavior made the shopkeeper stare in astonishment.

"Yes, just order that," Lucius replied curtly.

Kaylee nodded her head. "Two servings of teriyaki sauce potatoes," he continued to the waiter.

After nodding her head, the maid made a note. The waitress repeated Kaylee's order briefly to make sure, then left.

Kaylee made sure the maid's back was completely away. Then he turned his gaze to Lucius and moved forward in his seat.

"Hey, if you always act like that, what if they get suspicious of you?" Kaylee asked, her voice a little whispery.

Lucius now turned his face towards Kaylee. From the look on his face, Lucius didn't seem to care.

"Better to arouse their suspicions than for them to find out my identity," Lucius replied.

Hearing Lucius' answer made Kaylee grunt in annoyance. Kaylee shook her head in disbelief. A very unexpected answer, because Kaylee thought Lucius would be afraid if other people suspected him.

"Suspicion will also threaten your identity, Lucius," Kaylee said firmly, deliberately including a threatening tone.

Unfortunately Lucius wasn't being provoked to worry by Kaylee's words. Lucius was still relaxed and shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly.

"At least if they are suspicious, they will only speculate. But if they see my face directly, my identity will definitely be exposed."

Lucius' firm words were enough to show that his stance would not change. Then Kaylee wouldn't be able to force Lucius' opinion anymore.

Kaylee leaned back and crossed her arms over her chest. Lucius' attitude had not changed when he thought about it. Even though they have been friends since childhood.

"Have any new quests appeared yet?" asked Lucius who was trying to open the blue screen status window in front of his face.

Kaylee shook her head. "Nothing's showing up. Looks like other people haven't gotten the new quest either."

Lucius stopped waving his arms repeatedly from in front of his face. He exhaled slowly, placing his hands in front of his chest.

Lucius's eyes scanned around the tavern. Everyone was busy holding their cell phones. I don't know what they were watching until their faces were so serious.

"You think, why suddenly a monster appears?" she asked.

Lucius turned his gaze to Kaylee. "I dunno," he replied.

'In my memory, I can't find why those monsters could appear,' continued Lucius said in his mind.

"I was really worried thinking what would happen." Kaylee took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly.

Lucius was silent, his eyes serious on Kaylee. His mind began to imagine the events of the round of the game he had passed. Why is it that in the last act, Lucius is alone and no Kaylee?

Shortly after Lucius had that thought, someone's voice from the side was heard.

"Excuse me sir, miss, this is the order."

The waiter placed all of Lucius and Kaylee's orders on the table. While placing plates and glasses one by one, Lucius was very aware that the maid glanced at him a few times. There was suspicion radiating through his eyes.

Because he didn't want to care too much, Lucius just clasped his hands together in front of his chest. Lucius didn't want to show his face to the maid.

"Thank you, Waitress." Kaylee deliberately relaxed as if not noticing that the maids were seen investigating Lucius.

After the waitress left their dining table, Kaylee could breathe a sigh of relief. Kaylee had been tense before thinking about the worst possibility if the maid forced Lucius' hood to open.

"You really are—"

[BREAKING NEWS!]

Kaylee wasn't done talking yet. His attention and Lucius' attention had already shifted to the sound of the television that suddenly displayed a piece of news.

"Several monsters are known to have attacked several points of the city and caused damage everywhere. The identified death toll is two hundred and fifty one people..."

Lucius's brow furrowed at the news the anchor brought on the television. Not only did Lucius and Kaylee's attention become very focused, but also the attention of all visitors in this tavern.

"There is no certainty regarding the origin of the monsters that attacked several points of the city. However, the total losses have been confirmed—"

Silent. 

The television channel suddenly turned off.

That brought surprise from everyone, including Kaylee and Lucius.

Lucius immediately straightened his sitting position. After the television turned off, someone's panicked voice was heard and followed by screams.

"Cell phone signal off!"

Lucius and Kaylee looked away again. As all the visitors finally checked their phones, the two of them also checked their phones.

Lucius and Kaylee didn't understand why the signal suddenly went out. Both of them have tried to open social media, but nothing can be opened.

But strangely they get a signal to just open Vtube.

At that moment, the frantic exclamations of all the visitors made the atmosphere feel chaotic. Lucius and Kaylee looked at each other in wonder and questioning.

Before they could calm down, a notification notification appeared once again on the system's blue screen status window.

Lucius frowned. What does it mean? The chosen?
