Chapter 7

The house was small and dark, and there were no windows to let in any light. Derrick could hear the sound of traffic in the distance, but he had no idea where he was. He felt a sense of dread and panic rising within him, and he began to wonder if he would ever get out of this situation alive.

As he sat there, he tried to think of a way to escape. But the door was locked, and he was bound hand and foot. He tried to struggle against his bonds, but it was no use. The men had made sure he was secured tightly, and he couldn't break free.

Derrick tried to move, but he got a sharp pain on his head. They had hit him earlier on his head and had left the big injury untreated. He tried talking, but his mouth was glued and he couldn't speak. He was in pains and he looked around but he saw no one. There were metals around, everywhere was scattered and the house seemed like a long time abandoned building.

Just then, Derrick looked up and saw someone coming towards the entrance. The figure got closer and Derrick could see that he was among the men that he had met earlier at the alley.

He gesture got the man to untie him and unglue his mouth, but instead of getting a positive response, he got a hard kick from the man. As derrick fekt the sharp pain on his head, he also felt the warm blood run down from his head to his face.

More men got into the room, they were about five in number and a particular man stood out among them and he seemed to be their boss.

"You dare think that you could play with us?" The shirt man asked.

"Damn you!" Another man said.

Derrick was unable to talk, his mouth was glued preventing him from uttering any word.

"Untie him and loose his mouth" The boss ordered and immediately the short man did as he was commanded.

Derrick felt a glimmer of hope. But that hope was short-lived. As the men released his bonds, the boss added, "We're not done with you yet."

The men dragged him to a chair and pushed him down into it. They bound his hands behind his back and tied him to the chair, making it impossible for him to move. Then they left the room, leaving him alone in the darkness.

Derrick's mind was racing. What were they going to do to him? What did they want?

About an hour later, they came back in.

"We're going to make a deal with you," one of the men suggested his voice cold and emotionless. "You're going to pay us what your father owed us, or you'll never see the light of day again."

Derrick felt the blood drain from his face. He had no idea how much his father had owed, and he didn't have the money to pay it back. What was he going to do?

"I-I don't have that kind of money," he stammered."You'd better figure out a way to get it," the man ordered, his voice deadly serious. "Or else we'll make you pay in other ways. And trust me, you don't want that."

Derrick's heart was pounding, and he was sweating profusely. He had no idea how he was going to get out of this situation. And the longer he sat there, the more desperate he became. His mind raced with thoughts of escape, but nothing seemed possible.

"How much time do I have?" he asked, his voice shaking.

"You won't be leaving this place until you give us what we want," the man replied. "And as for calling someone - who would you call? You don't have any friends or family who would help you. You're all alone."

The man's words cut deep, and Derrick felt a knot of despair in his stomach. He was trapped, with no way out. He felt like he was going to be sick.

"Please," he said, his voice pleading. "I don't have the money. I don't know what to do."

"You have a girlfriend," the man replied. "Ruby, right? She can help you. She can get us the money we're owed."

Derrick thought back to the last time he had seen Ruby, when he had asked for her help and she had refused. She had said that she couldn't get involved, that it was too dangerous. Could she really help him now? He wasn't sure.

"I don't think she can," Derrick answered, his voice quavering. "She wouldn't do it before, and I don't think she'll do it now."

"You're not thinking clearly!" the man yelled, his tone stern. "If you don't do what we say, you'll be dead. And we'll sell your body parts on the black market. You're not thinking about the consequences."

Derrick felt a wave of panic wash over him. He had never thought about what would happen to him if he didn't comply with these men. The thought of his body being dismembered and sold was more than he could bear.

"I-I can't do it," he cried out, his voice breaking. "I can't."

The room was silent after the men left, and Derrick felt a sense of emptiness and despair. He was trapped, with no way out. He closed his eyes and tried to think of a way to escape, but his mind was blank. He felt like he was suffocating, like he couldn't breathe.

Slowly, he tried to take a deep breath, focusing on the air entering and leaving his lungs. He tried to calm himself, tried to think rationally. But it was difficult when faced with such a terrifying situation.

The next day, the men stormed I to the room again and untied Derrick.

"You are now free" One of the man told him.

Derrick could barely believe what he was hearing. The men untied him and told him to leave, that someone had paid the money they were owed and was waiting for him outside. He was so confused, he didn't know what to do. He thought about trying to run, but he knew he wouldn't get far.

So he did the only thing he could think of - he walked slowly to the door and opened it. He stepped outside, squinting in the bright sunlight. And there, standing in front of him, was Ruby.

"Nah! All these don't seem right, how did you know about all these" Derrick asked, shocked.

"Because I planned it all." Ruby snapped.
