“See him out with a stun baton!” Subrina’s voice was loud to irritate every ear out there.
The manager regained his haughty demeanor and cast a sharp glance toward Subrina. That gaze alone warned her not to cause a scene anymore. “Do you want to be seen out with the stun baton?”
Subrina stepped back twice in bewilderment.
She could only grind her teeth and watch the manager take Denver to the VIP lounge on the first floor.
“This way, ma’am,” the assistant manager, on the other hand, respectfully invited Subrina to his office. She kept cursing Denver as she went to the assistant’s room.
The assistant manager gave a soft drink to Subrina which she liked. She didn’t thank him because she believed that she deserved it. And the drink helped her body cool down a little.
The assistant manager tried to personally process the check, but when he checked the balance of the associated account, his expression stiffened for a second. Then he raised his eyebrows and looked at Subrina who was enjoying the drink. “Stop drinking, you wastrel!” he shouted, making her almost spill the drink.
Subrina swallowed the drink and quickly said, “W-Wastrel? Did you just call me a wastrel?” she glared at him. “Do you know who I am?”
“I don’t give a shit. There’s no money in the account of this check holder!” The assistant rebuked her. “The balance is in the NEGATIVE! Forget about a million dollars, you won’t even be able to withdraw a single dollar! Pay for the drink before you leave!”
“W-What?” Subrina’s eyes turned round as the moon, and she was so shocked she couldn’t even blink. “T-That’s not possible. C-Check again.”
“You think I just joined the bank today?” he replied in a cold, angry, and annoyed tone and threw the check across the desk.
Subrina still sat there in shock, sweat drops fighting for a place on her forehead. “S-Something must be wrong. I’ll talk with my daughter and come back soon.” Saying that she grabbed the check and left in acute anxiety and distress.
Meanwhile, the manager made Denver sit down on the extra-cushioned couch and turned on soft, ambient music which played in the background.
“How’s your business going, sir?” the manager respectfully asked Denver.
“I do the same thing everyday, and I get paid for it,” Denver replied, pinching his clothes at the chest to indicate the job he did.
The manager forced out a smile. He was suspicious of Denver, wondering if this diamond card really belonged to Denver or not. He opened the bank portal on his PC and asked, “Would you mind sharing the password?”
“Password?” Denver frowned. (Shit! That woman didn’t tell me about the password.)
“If you don’t want me knowing it,” the manager turned the PC around, “you can type it yourself.”
Denver typed his name, and it turned out to be an incorrect password. His name was the only thing he remembered, so he couldn’t help but feel anxious now.
“Can you give me your identity card?” The manager’s tone changed. His eyes contained a little bit of doubt in them.
“Uh, I’m sorry. I don’t have it with me now,” Denver replied.
The manager squinted his eyes but then still smiled. “It’s okay. You can try two more times. Just relax for a second and then type the correct password.”
If it was any other card, the manager would have long lost his patience. However, there were only a handful of diamond cards issued all around the world. It was a national bank, but the gold and diamond cards could be used anywhere in the world. So, the manager still did not dare to wear his emotions on his sleeve.
“What about your birth date?” the manager asked. “Is that the password?”
“Birth date…” Denver’s expression stiffened. The only thing he remembered from before losing his memories was his name. But because the manager was staring intensely at him, Denver caved in under the pressure and ended up typing a random birth date, which he soon realized that it was actually Diane’s birth date.
Again, it was an incorrect password.
The manager was beginning to look uneasy. Was there a reason to make Denver attempt a third time? He didn’t think so. “Sir, with all due respect, I think you should leave and find out the password first and then come back.” He was planning on letting Denver go and then calling the cops.
Denver got up from the couch, and his dog tag fell out into view. He was putting it back under his shirt. Just then, he took a look at it and saw the numbers that were embedded onto it with red diamonds. “Let me try one more time,” he quickly said and didn’t even wait for the manager’s reply. He typed in the six digit code.
The sound of logging in was heard, and the manager’s expression completely changed for the better.
He quickly got up from his seat and said, “Please sit down, sir.” He didn’t even need to look at the PC screen to check if the password Denver had entered was correct or not.
Denver, however, was staring at the balance amount that was showing on the computer screen. There were so many zeroes that he couldn’t tell the exact amount in one glance.
After Denver sat back on the couch, the manager poured wine to Denver. “Guigal wine. Twenty years old, and worth 12,000 dollars a bottle. This is only served to those who sit in the VIP lounge. I don’t dare drink it unless the guest tells me to.”Denver understood what the manager was implying, so he said, “You can drink it, too.”“Haha,” the manager happily smiled. “Indeed, sir. Drinks taste better when you share them.” He poured wine for himself and happily sipped on the precious alcohol. The manager took a look at the account details and was expecting to see a lot of money, but he was a little disappointed to see only a billion dollars in the account. “You have a billion dollars, sir.”“Pfft,” Denver spilled out the wine.“Mm? Is everything okay, sir?” the manager asked. “Was the wine not to your liking? Do you want a different wine? Cote Rotie? Or Rostaing?”“No, a fly entered my nose, that’s all,” Denver replied. “This wine is pretty good. But, sir… Did you say there are b-billio
“You know very well who I am don’t you?”Stephen’s words made the manager frown. Seeing the manager conflicted, Stephen hiddenly smirked. In truth, he was no longer as rich as he used to be. His father lost a lot of money lately, but he was still a well-known and feared-figure locally. The manager knew Stephen’s father, which was also why he didn’t think Stephen’s father was capable of having a diamond card, but then again, the card might have been temporarily given to Stephen’s father by the real owner. The manager briefly glanced at Denver who had already entered the correct password. He wished he was able to see the account details, but because of the confidentiality, he was not capable of doing so. It would take too long to get permission from the headquarters, but the problem before him needed to be resolved as fast as possible because all the staff in the bank had stopped working due to this incident. The other customers were also looking and probably even recording the incident
“Boss, will you give me permission to dispose of this garbage?” Sheryl asked.“D-Dispose?” Denver didn’t like that word.“Yeah,” Sheryl was still smiling. “Just give me a nod, and they’ll be gone from your sight.”Denver reluctantly nodded, “Just make them leave.”“Okay.” Sheryl then turned to face Stephen, Diane, and Subrina, but she briefly looked at the manager.“You haven’t answered my question yet, bitch,” Diane blurted. “Where did you rent the car? How much Denver is paying you for this act?”“Shut up,” the manager raised his voice, startling Diane and others. “Madam Sheryl helped me once in the past. She’s someone who can buy dozens of lamborghinis if she wants, and you bastards dare to badmouth her?!” he glared at them. “Security, chase these dogs out!”The security guard, wanting to redeem himself, immediately activated his baton and jumped at them like a gorilla, causing them to run out of the bank’s premises.Stephen showed some resistance, but the guard did not spare Steph
Sheryl stopped her car in front of the house and said, “I need to call someone, so you take care of your business here. I’ll be waiting outside. We’ll go to a doctor to get your head wound checked after that.”“Okay,” Denver stepped out of the car with effort because he was a big man. He didn’t think he’d enter this house again so soon. But because he knew that Diane was not in the house, he believed that this was the right time for him to take the items he wanted. One of the neighbors who was walking their dog, an adult brown rottweiler, in the middle of the day tried to chat with him, seeing that he stepped out of a luxury car, but Denver said he was busy right now. The dog, however, came to him and began to rub its body. He gave it a couple of pats. “I don’t have any food right now, Payne. Next time.” He told the dog and then quickly entered the house and was about to go upstairs in a hurry.“Denver, who broke the table lamp?” a voice reached his ears.He stopped and looked to his
Even after Denver lost memories, he got into some fights when they broke out during work. However, he never fought eight people.Naturally, he felt intimidated by the number of people that surrounded him. He may be the tallest guy among them, but he was still alone.Still and all, he spoke his mind, “Sheryl gave the bank card to me. If you want it, why don’t you ask her?”Stephen snickered. “Do you take me for a fool? Why would I ask her to get my card back?” He grabbed Denver’s shirt. “You are going to experience hell now for what you did at the bank. And then I’ll take this car and the green-eyed cutie, too.”Stephen tried to put his hand in Denver’s pocket, but Denver pushed Stephen back with both hands. It was such a strong push that Stephen was forced back five steps. In that process, Denver’s uniform buttons also came loose and fell, exposing his chest and part of his abs.“Beat him down!” Stephen yelled. All the eight men attacked Denver with their bare hands. Denver tried thr
Carrying four cement bags weighing 440 pounds in total, Denver climbed the linked ladder to get to the second floor of a building in progress.Today’s tasks included getting all the cement and sand bags on uprights on the upper floors, then he would get sixty bucks for a half-day’s work.As he skilfully put the bags down in a dry spot, he heard the distinct footsteps of a woman walking in high heels.Wearing a stylish purple dress with three-quarter sleeves, this brunette was stunning like morning sunshine with a lustrous face and contrasting dark hair. The jaws of other workers dropped when they saw her, who looked and swayed like a model. Why did someone like her donning a resplendent dress come to a construction site where cement was always in the air? From a distance, it felt like she was staring at Denver fixedly, her eyes growing wider with a positive vibration."Boss!"He heard she said to him in spite of the distance.Denver’s eyes also widened in response.“Watch out!”Becau
BAM~!It was a super-solid punch. Denver’s head twisted more than ninety degrees.“And who did you call a clown?” Stephen snorted, cracking his knuckles. “Know your place, big guy. You’re not someone who even deserves to be around a beauty like her. Just being big isn’t enough. You need class, too.”He was experienced enough in boxing, so even though Denver had a bigger build than him, he was confident in winning this fight.Denver turned his head back toward them when Diane put her hand on Stephen’s shoulder.Denver looked angrily and disappointedly at the woman who did something unimaginable to him.“Let me show you what real class looks like!” Stephen began to shuffle his feet like a boxer and got into his hunting stance. As Denver took a step forward, Stephen swiveled and crafted a powerful back kick, which he thought would secure him a sure victory because back kicks were so powerful. However, Denver caught Stephen’s left foot that was thrusting toward him and almost instantly tw
“I’m a nutjob, huh. Yeah, I was not able to see through you, so you can call me that,” Denver sadly smiled, picking the ring off the floor. It was a heart-shaped ring. Denver also had another such ring on his ring finger now.The pre-engagement rings were worth around 500 dollars, which was not at all a small amount of money for Denver.More than the monetary value, the emotional value these pre-engagements rings had in Denver’s mind was great. They were supposed to be treasured for life, yet how could Diane toss the ring away like it’s nothing?Did she really never love him? Not even like him?“Hmph, go and find a monkey to put that ring on,” Diane snorted and looked away.Denver did not speak afterward. As he was walking away, she went out of her way to say, “Oh, I forgot. You have nothing in your name. Even a beggar wouldn’t want to marry you now.”Denver did not talk back to them but just clenched his hands and just walked toward the main door, leaving behind a trail of blood drop
