Chapter 6

Alex refused to leave and it caused more uproar among the guests.

"Just leave and save yourself all this embarrassment." One said.

"I'm sure he just got out of the mental hospital. Or even an ex-convict." Another said.

"We need to involve the police since he isn't leaving calmly. Who knows what plans he has in his mind." Said a guest who was closest to Alex.

"I'm not a thief or an ex-convict, I'm Alexander Hugh and Eleanor is my aunt." Alex's fists were clenched and he was mad with fury.

"What's going on here!" Said a masculine voice making everyone in the lobby turn in the direction of the voice.

Alex, the receptionist, and the guests turned to see the hotel manager walking towards them with a frown on his face.

"Why is there unrest in my hotel lobby?"

"Oh thank heavens. I'm so relieved you are here Sir." The receptionist said.

"That wasn't the answer to the question I asked. The manager said harshly to her.

"Oh, sorry Sir. It's this low life that's causing the disturbances, sir. He came in here with no purpose whatsoever. He's probably a beggar." she said politely to the manager.

"And who are you? young man? Why would you come into this lavish hotel to disturb its peace?" He said harshly to Alex. "Does this place look like a shelter home that you can latch on?"

"Huh!" Alex was stunned at the way he was treated because they didn't know who he was.

"I haven't done anything wrong. Aren't you supposed to know both sides before you make your judgment," Alex asked. The hotel lobby was filled with more people at this point probably coming to look at what was happening.

Just then a convoy filled with luxurious cars stopped right at the entrance of the lobby. The manager's attention quickly turned to the entrance. Alex saw Barnabe come down from one of the cars. He smiled to himself.

"Hold him in place! Don't move or go anywhere." I have to handle important dignitaries." He said disgustingly at Alex and walked towards Barnabe.

He extended his hand to greet Barnabe but he walked past him and opened the car door. A beautiful old lady was helped down from the car. The manager joined in helping.

"Why is the hotel lobby rowdy Mr. Logan?" asked Barnabe to Mr. Logan- Mr. Logan was the hotel manager's name.

"We had a little inconvenience, Sir, but my security is handling it as we speak." He answered calmly and politely.

Alex's grand-aunt got out of the car. She walked with the support of a walking cane that was handed immediately to her when she got down.

"Is my nephew here yet? Barnabe. I want to see him. The hospital said he had already left to come here." She asked. Just then, she saw security holding onto Alex.

"Why is he being held? Asked a curious Eleanor.

The manager gets afraid. "I'm so sorry ma. I was trying to handle it and throw him out of here when you came in." The manager said in fear not understanding Eleanor's question.

"Throw him out!? That's your President! And he is the owner of this hotel you are managing and you are trying to throw him out? She queried the manager seriously.

The manager was awestruck. He was dumbfounded at what he just heard.

"The president!? He uttered still in shock.

"I'm sorry ma. I was just doing my job trying to keep the hotel decent, I didn't know he was the president."

"I don't need your apology. It should be for the one you are trying to throw out of his hotel." Aunt Eleanor said to the manager.

He quickly ran towards the guards. "Unhand him now!" He bowed his head to Alex.

"I'm so sorry Sir, I didn't know, I was just trying to do my job. Please, forgive me. I promise you, such an act will never repeat itself" He said, still bowing his head.

The receptionist was shocked alongside everyone who came to see what was happening in the lobby.

Seeing everyone knowing who he was now, Alex snickered. "You judged me before you even knew who I was. See how the mighty have fallen" He said looking at the receptionist.

She bowed her head in guilt and couldn't even look Alex in his face for fear of what he might do.

Alex walked past the manager with his head still bowed. He walked to his aunt and embraced her.

"You are a replica of your father. Bless his soul." She stroked his face. "You are finally here in my hands," she said, throwing her arms around Alex crying. "You look so fragile, child," she said

"Thank you for coming for me." Alex said to her.

"Don't thank me, Alexander. It is your birthright and it shouldn't be seized from you as my brother did to your father."

"Come child, we have so much to discuss. You have so much to tell me." His aunt said, holding his hand for Alex to walk beside her.

But just before Alex followed his aunt, he snapped at the manager who was still bowing his head and signaled to him.

"What is it, sir? Asked the manager politely, still bowing his head.

"I want to see you and the receptionist personally," Alex said with a curved smile across his face. He pointed his index finger at the receptionist.

"I will see you personally to discuss your behavior in handling others," Alex said sternly.

"Oh my God Sir, please don't fire me! Please don't fire me! I need this job, Sir. I'm a single mother and I'm all my little boy has. Please, Sir." The receptionist fell on her knees begging Alex not realizing her faults.

"Stand up, I just want to see you guys and decide," Alex said, gesturing to her to stand up. She got up and continued begging.

"Please Sir, I really love this job. I don't want to lose it, Sir." She said calmly and politely.

"Then why did you behave as if you hated the job?" Alex asked sternly.

"I'm truly sorry Sir, please forgive, please don't fire me." Alex sighed heavily.

"I'm not going to fire you but I still need to talk to you concerning your behavior and decide on what to do"

"Yes Sir" She bowed her head in shame as Alex walked up to the elevator.
