"Hello," said a smiling Emma stepping into Alex's room with Lucas holding the door ajar for her.
"I'm so happy that you are safe and okay now. I thought you wouldn't survive when I found you. I was so scared!" Emma walked up closer to Alex to hug him but he was taken aback.
"This is Emma Sir, you asked that she be found and brought to you," Lucas said to Alex, noticing his reaction. "I found her through her co-workers".
Alex took Emma's hand and held tight to it. "Thank you for saving my life. You didn't have a reason to but you did despite being terrified. But thank you" Alex said to Emma.
She gave out a fulfilling smile to Alex hugging him again. "I'm happy I could do that for you. It wasn't a big deal."
"It was a really big deal. You saved me even when you didn't have to. I'm sorry that they decided the best way to repay you was money." Alex said to Emma still holding onto her hand.
"It's okay. I didn't do it for money. I didn't even know you were Alexander Hugh when I saved you. I just did it because my mom said one little kindness can change the world." Alex smiled at Emma, she brought a kind of warmth to him.
They talked for a while until the doctor came back and ordered everyone to leave because Alex needed the rest. Alex dozed off in no time.
Alex spent a week in the hospital recuperating. Over the days in the week he spent there, he was treated like a king. Both the hospital staff, Barnabe who he learned later on was his aunt's butler, Lucas, who was the son of the Hugh family lawyer, treated him like a king. But Alex's mind always drifted to Dawson, Carla, and her family, and wondered if they knew he survived.
He always looked forward to the days Emma would come visit him. He learned she was an only child juggling to take care of her tuition fee and taking care of her ailing mother. With one order from Alex, Emma's tuition fees were paid in full, and her mother's medical bills were taken care of. "She deserves this and more Barnabe. I want her to be situated properly and given anything she needs" Alex ordered Barnabe to take care of everything about Emma.
He spoke to his aunt on the phone all the while and learned more about his inheritance. He learned that his father fell in love with a woman, Alex's mother, who wasn't approved by his grandfather, and that resulted in his grandfather disowning his son, Alex's father. He got closer to his aunt though they only spoke on the phone.

It was the morning his aunt would come to see him because she was finally cleared by her doctor to travel. Alex was anxious. He was fed up with the hospital so he left early by himself without waiting for his convoy to pick him up. He got out of the taxi as soon as it stopped in front of a towering building in all its glory. The architecture was exquisite. He looked up and saw the name on the building was Hugh Hotels,
written in fine metallic letters. They were shown so brightly that one could spot them from far away.
"What! Wow! Alex lets out unknowingly. He had only been in this neighborhood once and it was to attend Dawson's party.
"Sir, you haven't paid me yet." Alex was taken aback by what the driver said. He brought out a gold-plated card only available to the richest. He was given the card by Barnabe a couple of days back and it contained millions of dollars for him to spend as he liked.
He smiled. "I'm sorry, I was just taking in the beautiful aura of this building." He swiped the card for payment.
The driver looked at Alex in awe because he was dressed poorly. He wondered how he had such a card in his possession. "He must be a thief or a fraud," The driver thought to himself.
Alex didn't mind the way the taxi driver looked at him, he paid and the driver drove off.
Alex stepped into the lavish building. "All this is mine," letting out a fulfilled sigh. The luxury hotel entrance had an even more lavish lobby with chandeliers hanging from the ceilings, marble floors, and elegant interior decor. He walked across the lobby and Alex felt the eyes of people, probably guests at the hotel, on him. He just simply ignored the people and went straight to the reception. He was full of happiness.
"Hello, I'm Alexander Hugh. I'm here to see Eleanor Hugh." He asked politely. The receptionist gave Alex the most disdainful look like he was trash.
"You are who? To see who?" She retorted.
"I'm sorry sir, but this is a reputable high-class hotel. It isn't meant for low-class people like yourself. You wouldn't even get a cleaning-level job here. I suggest you leave at once to avoid being thrown out by the security." She said poorly, glaring disgustingly at Alex from head to toe.
Alex wasn't happy with the response he got from the receptionist.
He snapped at her. "Hey! What gave you the audacity to talk to me in that manner? Is that how a receptionist is supposed to behave?"
She retorted. "I can see that you are asking for the humiliation of security throwing you out." She snapped.
Alex was surprised at the behavior of the receptionist. Their conversations had started to draw the eyes of guests in the lobby to them.
"Why won't he just leave!? He must be a tramp, looking for loose change." One guest whispered.
"A beggar? I doubt it. He's probably a thief, that's how they behave. They come in unsuspecting ways and rob everyone. I support the receptionist, he should be thrown out." Retorted another guest.
Just when everyone was giving Alex a disgusting look and whispering witty talks to him on account of how badly the receptionist spoke to him, the receptionist picked up the phone and called security.
"Please! I need security at the lobby immediately to dispose of a nuisance." She said sternly.
In no time, security had arrived to throw Alex out. There was an uproar in the hotel lobby because of this.
"Listen, buddy, I don't know how or why you came here, but it will be beneficial to everyone if you leave politely. You don't belong here" Said the security beckoning to the entrance and flexing their muscles.
This stunned Alex even more but he wasn't threatened. Alex chuckled softly as soon as the security arrived.
"I'm not going anywhere until I fulfill what I came for." He clenched his fist and stood his ground as the security tried to touch him"
Alex refused to leave and it caused more uproar among the guests. "Just leave and save yourself all this embarrassment." One said. "I'm sure he just got out of the mental hospital. Or even an ex-convict." Another said. "We need to involve the police since he isn't leaving calmly. Who knows what plans he has in his mind." Said a guest who was closest to Alex. "I'm not a thief or an ex-convict, I'm Alexander Hugh and Eleanor is my aunt." Alex's fists were clenched and he was mad with fury. "What's going on here!" Said a masculine voice making everyone in the lobby turn in the direction of the voice. Alex, the receptionist, and the guests turned to see the hotel manager walking towards them with a frown on his face. "Why is there unrest in my hotel lobby?" "Oh thank heavens. I'm so relieved you are here Sir." The receptionist said. "That wasn't the answer to the question I asked. The manager said harshly to her. "Oh, sorry Sir. It's this low life that's causing the disturbances,
Alex followed his aunt and Barnabe, and they led him to an elevator. Barnabe pressed the button that had "Hugh Penthouse" italicized on it. The elevator led them to the penthouse. Alex stepped in with them. The penthouse had huge glass windows that looked over the whole city. It was serene. It was a spacious living room with high-end furniture. The furniture was of the finest quality. The luxurious space was decorated with the finest-grade gray curtains hanging from the ceiling to the floor. There was a black grand piano in the space and lots of art."Please sit here sir." Barnabe gestured to Alex to sit on the fine sofa as he was supporting his aunt to sit too."I'm not that old, Barnabe. I think I can manage to sit down by myself. Thank you" Barnabe and leaves her."Why didn't you wait at the hospital? We could have come to pick you up." Asked his aunt."I was tired of being cooped up in there." Alex stood up and walked to take in the view from his penthouse."That's true. But, asid
Alex saw his aunt's sudden happiness and wondered what was the reason."What is it? Asked a curious Alex."That was the captain. The helicopter is ready at the helipad to take us to your house." She said joyfully. Barnabe helped her up from the couch she sat on."We have a helipad, Wow! Okay. I'm ready." He supported his aunt to walk while Barnabe took all the files along. They took the elevator to the roof and took the helicopter. It was the first time Alex had ever been on one. He could see the whole of the city. It looked so beautiful from up there. Twenty minutes later, they landed in the most exquisite mansion Alex had ever seen. Alex got down and saw the mansion that stood before him. It was grand and imposing with greeneries encircling it. It had a classical architectural style, with detailed and ornate carvings and moldings. He was awed by what he saw.Alex saw an entourage waiting for him outside the large entrance of the mansion. They were dressed in specific uniforms. "Proba
Darren stopped at a park because he was instructed by Alex to do so. They got down and got food from the food truck that was packed close to the park. Darren stood close to the car with his eyes fixed on them.Alex gawked at Emma as she munched on the hot dog they had gotten."What? Why are you staring at me like that?" She asked as soon as she noticed Alex staring at her."Can I tell you the truth?" Alex asked with seriousness on his face."Sure! What is it?" Asked Emma as she dropped the remaining hotdog on the paper towel."I didn't want to live anymore that morning you saved me. I was ready to die because I had nothing else to live for. I had everything taken away from me by someone who meant everything to me. I thought life didn't want me anymore. But you came out of nowhere and helped me. And I'm grateful that you did. I owe you my life." He said calmly."You don't owe me anything. I helped you because it was the right thing to do at that moment. I was scared shitless but I'm hap
Mr Carson stormed out of the meeting in anger. He never expected that Mr Williams had an heir tucked away somewhere waiting to emerge one day. He left the meeting and a few of his friends who were also board members, who shared his opinion on the matter, left with him. Mr Graham sighed heavily. "Well, that's that. He looked at Eleanor and back to the remaining board members. "Mr. Cason is right in a way Mr Graham, you can't just spring this on us. Why wasn't this read or made known the first time the will was read? This is a huge responsibility and money and shares are at stake." Said one of the members of the board. Mr Graham spoke with them trying to make them understand and see reasons why that part of the will was never said or read. He told them it was all part of Mr. Williams's orders and that he was just simply obeying them. Alex and his aunt Eleanor kept quiet to allow Mr. Graham to do his job. After much talk, they finally agreed with what was written in the will. Mr Gra
"Is a party really necessary, Aunty? I mean I just want to stay low. I don't want the media on my face Aunty" Alex said to his Aunt politely. His aunt had called him to inform him of the party she planned on holding because of Alex. A party showing the whole city and the substantial and affluent people of the city that he was now the CEO of Hugh, and also the Hugh family's long-lost heir. But Alex wasn't so keen on the idea of a party because he didn't want to be seen just yet by Carla, Dawson, or even Carla's family or anyone who knew him with them. He wanted to deal with them secretly until he revealed himself once they were broken. He knew the party would put him in the spotlight and that would kinda twat his plans to get back at them. "I don't really want a party, Aunty. But if you must parade me then can we hold a close party and no media? Please?" Alex inquired of his aunt warmly. "Fine, if that's what you want dear. But I can't guarantee you that the media won't be there b
At The Penthouse; 4 PM Alex and Lucas drove to the penthouse that he wanted to check out. He was ready to pick his place. The best houses were selected and shown to him and he chose this particular one because it was situated in the most secluded and quiet part of the city. Not to mention it was in the most expensive part of the city. They drove right up to the towering building and the valet came up to park their car properly. Alex instructed Darren to drive with the valet to know the proper parking space. An old security man was standing right outside the entrance and he greeted Alex politely, bowing his head, and Alex returned his greeting. They walked into the reception and it was serene and exquisite. From the chandeliers hanging from the ceiling to the marbled floors, it screamed pricey. But above all, it was peaceful. "I can see why this particular building caught your attention out of all the others," Lucas said to Alex, walking behind him and grinning. Alex smiled and ju
"He's no longer the CEO. A new one was appointed today and according to my research, it said that he's the long-lost heir of the Hugh family, Sir.""I see. Did he mention any other reason for the meeting apart from my funding?" He asked pacing around the sitting room. Carla sat but had a worried look on her face because of the way Dawson was reacting to the call."No Sir, just that Sir." "When's the meeting?" "It's tomorrow morning Sir." "Ok Marla, what's the fucking time! I can't just walk to Hugh's office tomorrow morning without a particular time, now can I?" He was getting angry at his assistant."I'm so sorry Sir but I was unable to get that before he ended the call. I tried calling back and no answer came."He fumed and yelled at her over the phone."You are such an incompetent fool, Marla! Sometimes, I wonder why I still keep you around because you fail at your job every fucking day!. You mess up the simplest of tasks!" Carla's curiosity had overridden her at this point that
