"Leave my granddaughter and I will give you ten million dollars, right here, right now!"
There was a deafening silence in the room as all the guests waited impatiently for Dominic's reply. It almost broke his heart to see that even his wife's parents were eagerly waiting to see if he would take the offer. Though what was he expecting, since he got married to Ciara, neither of them had shown him an ounce of love. Especially her mother. He knew if he decided to leave Ciara, she would probably be the happiest of them all, but he wasn't ready to give her that luxury. "Wow look at all your faces. Did you really think I was considering it?" He finally broke the silence, a smile on his face, even though he wasn't exactly in a cheerful mood. "Sorry to disappoint you all but, I'm not leaving my wife." He declared boldly and the old woman frowned."Then get the hell out of my sight!" she spat angrily. If it was possible for them to drive him out, Dominic was sure that they would have done that a long time ago. But as unloving as they were towards him, they still had high values for the words of Ciara's grandfather whose last wish was for him to stay married to Ciara, so he was left alone, but no one would ever acknowledge him as a son- in- law."Gram Fallon, please try to reconsider–""Dominic, why do you always have to be this way?!" His wife shot at him, standing between he and her grandmother. "Gram says she doesn't have any money to give to you so just drop it already!"Dominic knew his wife didn't hate him, but he knew she love him either. Probably because he was poor, so she felt embarrassed to be his wife."I mean even if she does lend it to you, how do you intend on paying it back?" His brother -in -law said, mockery evident in the tone of his voice. "I mean you would have to work for at least two years- no, three!- before you'll ever get such a amount.""Three years?" Ciara's cousin pitched in. "More like five.""I guess it was a mistake on my part to think that you would have human sympathy." When Dominic said that, a gasp of shock could be heard throughout the room. "You're way too big for that." With balled fist and gritted teeth, he stormed out of the room ignoring the calls of his wife.★<~~~>★<~~~>★As Dominic entered the hospital grounds, he marched straight to the cashier to see if he could plead with her to extent the payment deadline by a day or two. Where he would get the money, he was still unsure but at least it would give him a little more time to venture other options."Mr Shay, we've been looking for you all morning." She said as he reached her table."What, you have? Why?" Fear had gripped his heart as he heard her statement and he began to imagine the worse. "Did something happen to Mrs Jameson? Is it because I couldn't get the money on time? Is she okay?""She's okay sir. The doctor just needs your signature so she can carry on with the surgery.""Surgery? She agreed to operate on her without payment?""No sir, the payment was made earlier this morning.""What? By who?""No idea sir, but the man said he was doing it on your behalf."Dominic was stunned, who was the mysterious person that would willingly put down five million dollars for a complete stranger? He definitely needed to find out who the person was. But first, his priority was Mrs Jameson. "So, I just have to see the doctor?""Yes sir.""Alright thanks."★<~~~>★<~~~>★Dominic was still trying to figure out who the mystery person was but after two hours of ransacking his brain, he still had nothing. He didn't have any friends nor did he have a family, or at least that was what he told himself, but the bottom line was that he didn't have anyone that could do such a thing for him. And neither did Mrs Jameson. The surgery was scheduled to last for ahout five hours and the doctor had advised him to go home and come back when it was over but he decided to stay. It wasn't like his wife would be happy to see him, especially not after he had just insulted her grandmother at her seventy fifth birthday party. It wasn't the first time the Fallon family would subject him to such ridicule, he was already more than used to it. In fact, their whole two years of matrimony was just Ciara mostly avoiding him, and her family looking down on him and trash talking him. He didn't know why he got so upset this time, maybe the thought that Mrs Jameson could die had something to do with it.After the unfortunate death of his mother, Dominic had become an orphan, but he was too old so he couldn't go to an orphanage. Instead he was left to fend for himself, managing to feed himself with the little odd jobs he found. It was amidst his struggles that he met Mrs Grace Jameson.Grace Jameson lived a simple but contented life with her husband, the old couple were never blessed with children and it was something that she was always saddened about. After the death of her husband, she was left with no one, no family and no friends, living an extremely boring life all by herself. Then she met Dominic and decided to take him in after hearing his sad backstory. For six whole years, it was just he and Mrs Jameson. She filled the spot of a mother in his life and he filled the spot of a son in hers. She clothed him, fed him, gave him a roof over his head and even sent him to highschool and college. She did all that and never for once asked for anything in return. Whenever he said something about being a burden to her, she would always reply him by saying; "Can a child ever be a burden to their parents?"That was true, but Dominic wasn't her child, and so he knew deep in his heart that he had to do something to repay her for her unfading kindness. He felt someone come up behind him and Dominic knew he was no longer alone. Turning to face the person that had invaded his alone time he was shocked to see the face of someone he never thought he would see again."Hello, young master."Dominic Shay was seated in the waiting room of Primrose Hospital, awaiting the results of Mrs Jameson's heart surgery. He wasn't sure how many hours had passed since he had been waiting. One, maybe two, or three. But it felt like he had been waiting forever.Mrs Grace Jameson came from a middle class family, meaning they weren't super rich, but they weren't poor either. They had just enough. So naturally when it was time for her to get married, her family was expecting her to bring home someone from a high class family, or at least a middle class, but they were horrified when they found out that her choice of husband was from a low class family. She had met him at the company where she worked, she was there as an intern while her husband, Craig Jameson worked as a messanger. After her internship, Mrs Jameson– who was known as Miss Grace Thompson back then– was promoted to assistant manager, putting her six offices ahead of her husband. But that never stopped the young couple from tyi
While Dominic was awaiting the results of Mrs Jameson six hour long surgery, his butler walked up to him and asked him to go back to his family and reclaim his position. Of course he refuses the offer vehemently as he felt that it was too late for his grandfather to try to make amends, so his butler resorts to enticing him by giving him an unlimited credit card, then he told him that his younger brother had almost ruin the family company and had absconded with millions of dollars."Why on earth would he do such a thing? And how come no one noticed anything?""As you are well aware, your younger brother had always been your grandfather's favorite, and so he never gave him any restraint. Your brother had access to the company funds, and he was known as the future CEO of Shay Groups so he used that to his advantage. Spending your grandfather's hard earned money like it was an allowance. And when your grandfather threatened to get him arrested, he stole some documents, his credit card and
Dominic could barely sleep all through the night, the thought that he had suddenly become so important made his heart leap with joy. Even though nobody actually knew he was the CEO of the company, the feeling that they all wanted something from him made him feel good. After leisurely enjoying his breakfast that he had made himself, Dominic went back to his bedroom to have a change of clothes. He traded his casual outfit for a neatly ironed shirt, and a pair of jeans. His earlier idea was to put on a suit but he decided he wanted to go simple, a mix between casual and corporate. He combed his red hair to the back, and added a bit of hair gel to keep it that way.For his shoes, Dominic was having a hard time deciding between a pair of white sneakers, or black office shoes. Eventually, his casual side won the battle and he wore the sneakers. Now he was ready to make a new start for himself."And where do you think you're going?" His wife questioned as she noticed him all dressed."I to
"What did you say?!" Tomas questioned angrily."Didn't you hear him? He said to wait at the lounge." Dominic said in a mocking tone, then turned back to the COO who still looked embarrassed. "Wait, you guys have a lounge?""Uh yes." He nodded. "We let the staff relax there on their break, and some of our clients also wait there when I'm in a meeting and unable to see them yet.""What has gotten into you Preston, Why are you explaining yourself to this nobody?""Please, just wait here Mr Tomas." Preston suspected that Dominic might be someone sent to inspect how he was handling the business, because how else would he know that he wasn't the real owner?"I can not! I absolutely can not be asked to wait here because of this idiot! We are clearly not in the same class, I mean people like him should bow and grovel when they see me. I will not be delayed because of this nuisance.""Sir, please be patient. This is an office environment, try to compose yourself." The receptionist tried to cal
"Where the hell have you been all day?" Ciara questioned as he quietly let himself back into their apartment. The home of the Fallon was a huge mansion divided into six different apartments. The main flat was the home of gram Fallon, the owner of the entire building and it was on the top floor. Right next to her apartment was the home of David Fallon, her first son and Ciara's uncle and he lived with his wife and three kids. After that was the home of Laura Fallon, her second child. She was divorced but she lived there with her only son. Then on the bottom floor, there was Florence's apartment, where she lived with her husband and her son, George. It used to be Ciara's home as well until she got married. Her grandfather insisted that the young couple would need privacy and so she moved to a vacant apartment with Dominic. Then the last apartment had been left vacant as a guest house for any visiting friends or extended family. "I got a job." He said simply as he took off his shirt.
He knew there wasn't much that Anna could do by herself since she was still just a receptionist, but Dominic asked her to keep an ear and an eye out for anything she deemed suspicious. He promised to raise her monthly pay if she cooperated with him. Dominic half expected her to deny his request or at least try to defend her colleagues, but instead she immediately accepted the offer. Leaving Dominic with two thoughts on her, either she suspected Preston and Daniel as well, or she was just one of those staff who was loyal to their boss. Either way, as long as it worked to his favor, he was okay with it. Back at Preston's office, Dominic was going through the files of the list of companies that had been trying to form a partnership with his company, and he was a bit pissed to find out that the files were still untouched."Preston, these files are still untouched. May I ask why?""What?""I know you heard me. I want to know your reason for neglecting all these proposals. Is there a rea
THE HOME OF TOMAS DEVILLE."Tomas!! Where on earth is that useless boy?!""Relax Mr DeVille, I will go and fetch him.""Please do."When Tomas was taken to his father's room, the first thing he received was a hard slap across his face. "How dare you?!" The man barked. "Do you have any idea how hard I had to work before you were able to work with the Shay's new branch?! How dare you throw that away like it means nothing?!"Tomas was confused, because he had not heard of the message. "What ever are you talking about father? I was still there yesterday, and I pitched the idea you asked me to tell the CEO.""Was that before or after you decided to embarrass me and our entire family?!""Father, please make me understand what you're driving at. As far as I'm concerned, there isn't a problem at all.""Then what do you call this?!" He tossed his cell phone at Tomas who barely caught it, but thankfully he did, or else that could have been another problem for him. "What do you call that if it i
One thing about the town of Roseville was that rumors travel faster than any other thing, and so in just a matter of days, almost everyone had heard about the fact that Tomas DeVille was kicked out of the DnD real estates and that they had cut off all present and future projects with his family. Of course the Fallon family had heard the news first, and that was the reason they were having an emergency meeting– to determine whether a marriage was still possible between both families. "Gram, it wasn't Tomas's fault." Maria said in defense of her boyfriend. "I'm sure it was Dominic, I don't know what strings he pulled but I am very certain that this useless son -in -law is responsible for this."Dominic just rolled his eyes at her words, she didn't even care about that fact that he was sitting right there, although it wasn't the first time any of them would say something bad about him to his face. "Why do you keep saying it's Dominic's fault? He didn't do anything."When she spoke up,
