Dominic Shay was seated in the waiting room of Primrose Hospital, awaiting the results of Mrs Jameson's heart surgery. He wasn't sure how many hours had passed since he had been waiting. One, maybe two, or three. But it felt like he had been waiting forever.
Mrs Grace Jameson came from a middle class family, meaning they weren't super rich, but they weren't poor either. They had just enough. So naturally when it was time for her to get married, her family was expecting her to bring home someone from a high class family, or at least a middle class, but they were horrified when they found out that her choice of husband was from a low class family. She had met him at the company where she worked, she was there as an intern while her husband, Craig Jameson worked as a messanger. After her internship, Mrs Jameson– who was known as Miss Grace Thompson back then– was promoted to assistant manager, putting her six offices ahead of her husband. But that never stopped the young couple from tying the knot two years after their courtship.Mrs Jameson had hoped that somewhere along the way, her family would come to accept the man she had chosen, but it was the complete opposite. When her parents realized that she was serious about her intentions, they gave her an impossible condition. Her husband or her family. She was distraught by the condition and she didn't know what do do. Regardless of what decision she made, she was still losing something. Despite their shortcomings, she still loved her parents and her two siblings very much, and Craig was one of the best things to ever happen to her. She loved both sides dearly and wished she didn't have to choose. But in the end, she chose to be with the man she loved.Dominic remembered always asking her if she regretted her decision to stay with her husband and her reply was that she had lived her life doing what her parents wanted, trying to be the perfect daughter for them. She went to the school they chose, studied the course they chose for her, and she was tired of it.She said choosing her husband was the first decision she made for herself, and so she didn't regret it.Even though he was deep in his thoughts, Dominic could feel someone walk up behind him and he knew he was no longer alone. Ever since he was young, he was always able to tell when someone was behind him so it was almost impossible for anyone to sneak up on him.He rose to his feet and turned, expecting to see the face of the doctor or a nurse but instead he came face to face with a dark skinned, half bald man."Hello young master." The man said, smiling at Dominic."Sorry, do I know you?" He raised a questioning brow at the older man and he frowned in return."Young master, I know you remember me.""You must have me confused with someone else. I have no idea who you are." He started to walk away when the man spoke up again."I suppose you must be wondering who settled the bills of that elderly woman!"Dominic paused in his tracks and rolled his eyes. So it was him!"What do you want?" He said as he turned back to face the man."So you do remember me.""Of course I remember you Stanley. You watched and said nothing as that man chased me and my mother away!" It was a memory Dominic could never erase from his mind. The cold look on his grandfather's face. The pleased grin his younger brother had. The pained and heartbroken tears his mother shed. He remembered it all too well. In fact, he didn't think he could ever forget it."Young master Dominic, I want you to know that I had no control over what happened that fateful day. I wasn't happy about it but my hands were tied, I am but a butler after all, and there is a great limit to what I can and cannot do in the Shay Empire.""Still you could have said something! Anyway, it's all in the past now, it doesn't matter anymore. Why are you here?""Young master, your grandfather wants you to come back home. He believes it is high time for you to reclaim your post as the heir to the Shay Empire. It is time to take your seat as the CEO to the Shay's Megacorp.""Really? You gotta be kidding me. Now you want me to come back? Do you have any idea what I had to go through?""Your grandfather regretted his actions greatly and he sent me to find you. I have been searching for you for two whole years before I finally learnt that you were living with Grace Jameson.""And that's the reason you settled the hospital bills? So you could force me to come back?""I would never do that to you sire, the Shay manor has been too quiet without you. Your grandfather needs you, young master.""He needs me? Well what about when I needed him?! When I begged him not to chase me away? Stanley I had nowhere to go.""He has realized his mistakes, just–""It's too late Stanley! I lost my mother! I was all alone for so long," Dominic's voice was breaking and he felt his eyes stinging with unshed tears. "I was all alone Stanley, no one was there for me. The only person who truly loved me, the only person I had, died. Stanley, my mother died and there was nothing I could do about it. I couldn't even give her a befitting burial.""You must have gone through a lot, and I'm not denying the fact that Master Shay has some fault in it.""Some?""Please hear me out sire. Your grandfather made a mistake, and he has realized it. Now he wants you back– no– he needs you back. This is your chance to make a come back. The Shay's Megacorp has just opened up a new branch and your grandfather would like to put you in charge of it.""Not interested."Stanley sighed and retrieved a credit card from his suit pocket. "Sire, take this black card.""Why?""It contains pocket money that you can spend for a week or two. I can see that you still need time to think about this, and I can't meet you like this and leave you empty handed.""I don't want it.""Young master, it is very understandable that you're still upset. No one would experience what you did and not have resentful feelings, but you need to understand that your family needs your help.""My help? What about the golden son?""I'm afraid your brother has absconded with some documents worth millions of dollars and he drove the company almost to the point of bankruptcy.""What?"While Dominic was awaiting the results of Mrs Jameson six hour long surgery, his butler walked up to him and asked him to go back to his family and reclaim his position. Of course he refuses the offer vehemently as he felt that it was too late for his grandfather to try to make amends, so his butler resorts to enticing him by giving him an unlimited credit card, then he told him that his younger brother had almost ruin the family company and had absconded with millions of dollars."Why on earth would he do such a thing? And how come no one noticed anything?""As you are well aware, your younger brother had always been your grandfather's favorite, and so he never gave him any restraint. Your brother had access to the company funds, and he was known as the future CEO of Shay Groups so he used that to his advantage. Spending your grandfather's hard earned money like it was an allowance. And when your grandfather threatened to get him arrested, he stole some documents, his credit card and
Dominic could barely sleep all through the night, the thought that he had suddenly become so important made his heart leap with joy. Even though nobody actually knew he was the CEO of the company, the feeling that they all wanted something from him made him feel good. After leisurely enjoying his breakfast that he had made himself, Dominic went back to his bedroom to have a change of clothes. He traded his casual outfit for a neatly ironed shirt, and a pair of jeans. His earlier idea was to put on a suit but he decided he wanted to go simple, a mix between casual and corporate. He combed his red hair to the back, and added a bit of hair gel to keep it that way.For his shoes, Dominic was having a hard time deciding between a pair of white sneakers, or black office shoes. Eventually, his casual side won the battle and he wore the sneakers. Now he was ready to make a new start for himself."And where do you think you're going?" His wife questioned as she noticed him all dressed."I to
"What did you say?!" Tomas questioned angrily."Didn't you hear him? He said to wait at the lounge." Dominic said in a mocking tone, then turned back to the COO who still looked embarrassed. "Wait, you guys have a lounge?""Uh yes." He nodded. "We let the staff relax there on their break, and some of our clients also wait there when I'm in a meeting and unable to see them yet.""What has gotten into you Preston, Why are you explaining yourself to this nobody?""Please, just wait here Mr Tomas." Preston suspected that Dominic might be someone sent to inspect how he was handling the business, because how else would he know that he wasn't the real owner?"I can not! I absolutely can not be asked to wait here because of this idiot! We are clearly not in the same class, I mean people like him should bow and grovel when they see me. I will not be delayed because of this nuisance.""Sir, please be patient. This is an office environment, try to compose yourself." The receptionist tried to cal
"Where the hell have you been all day?" Ciara questioned as he quietly let himself back into their apartment. The home of the Fallon was a huge mansion divided into six different apartments. The main flat was the home of gram Fallon, the owner of the entire building and it was on the top floor. Right next to her apartment was the home of David Fallon, her first son and Ciara's uncle and he lived with his wife and three kids. After that was the home of Laura Fallon, her second child. She was divorced but she lived there with her only son. Then on the bottom floor, there was Florence's apartment, where she lived with her husband and her son, George. It used to be Ciara's home as well until she got married. Her grandfather insisted that the young couple would need privacy and so she moved to a vacant apartment with Dominic. Then the last apartment had been left vacant as a guest house for any visiting friends or extended family. "I got a job." He said simply as he took off his shirt.
He knew there wasn't much that Anna could do by herself since she was still just a receptionist, but Dominic asked her to keep an ear and an eye out for anything she deemed suspicious. He promised to raise her monthly pay if she cooperated with him. Dominic half expected her to deny his request or at least try to defend her colleagues, but instead she immediately accepted the offer. Leaving Dominic with two thoughts on her, either she suspected Preston and Daniel as well, or she was just one of those staff who was loyal to their boss. Either way, as long as it worked to his favor, he was okay with it. Back at Preston's office, Dominic was going through the files of the list of companies that had been trying to form a partnership with his company, and he was a bit pissed to find out that the files were still untouched."Preston, these files are still untouched. May I ask why?""What?""I know you heard me. I want to know your reason for neglecting all these proposals. Is there a rea
THE HOME OF TOMAS DEVILLE."Tomas!! Where on earth is that useless boy?!""Relax Mr DeVille, I will go and fetch him.""Please do."When Tomas was taken to his father's room, the first thing he received was a hard slap across his face. "How dare you?!" The man barked. "Do you have any idea how hard I had to work before you were able to work with the Shay's new branch?! How dare you throw that away like it means nothing?!"Tomas was confused, because he had not heard of the message. "What ever are you talking about father? I was still there yesterday, and I pitched the idea you asked me to tell the CEO.""Was that before or after you decided to embarrass me and our entire family?!""Father, please make me understand what you're driving at. As far as I'm concerned, there isn't a problem at all.""Then what do you call this?!" He tossed his cell phone at Tomas who barely caught it, but thankfully he did, or else that could have been another problem for him. "What do you call that if it i
One thing about the town of Roseville was that rumors travel faster than any other thing, and so in just a matter of days, almost everyone had heard about the fact that Tomas DeVille was kicked out of the DnD real estates and that they had cut off all present and future projects with his family. Of course the Fallon family had heard the news first, and that was the reason they were having an emergency meeting– to determine whether a marriage was still possible between both families. "Gram, it wasn't Tomas's fault." Maria said in defense of her boyfriend. "I'm sure it was Dominic, I don't know what strings he pulled but I am very certain that this useless son -in -law is responsible for this."Dominic just rolled his eyes at her words, she didn't even care about that fact that he was sitting right there, although it wasn't the first time any of them would say something bad about him to his face. "Why do you keep saying it's Dominic's fault? He didn't do anything."When she spoke up,
Just as he had hoped, Ciara enjoyed her time at fun world. When they first arrived, she said it felt childish to do stuff like that so she wanted to leave, but he was able to convince her to give it a try and she absolutely killed it at the wall climbing. She had made reservations at a fancy restaurant for twelve PM, and when it was time for them to leave, she almost seemed reluctant. The drive to the restaurant was a long but comfortable one. She still didn't talk about what was bothering her and he chose not to press further. When she was ready, he hoped she would open up to him on her own. "The lasagna here is to die for." She said as they were shown to their seats. "Really? Then I'll have that.""Awesome. Two plates of lasagnas please." She ordered and the waiter bowed and walked away. "Their desserts are even better, I personally recommend the cheesecake.""Then it must be delicious.""Oh it is, trust me.""I do."When he said that Ciara froze up for a few seconds, staring in
