Marriage Of Convenience

Sophia kept glancing at her wristwatch. "What's taking Clementine so long to get back here? I hope she didn't get into trouble."

Standing up, she decided to go check up on her sister. Her so called fiance hasn't showed up yet and she was getting impatient already. He has kept waiting for three hours!

Seeing the crowd, she raised a brow when she heard her sister's loud pitched voice.

"Clementine, what's going on here?"

"Thank goodness you are here, Sophia. This trash bumped into me without looking at where he was going. He smashed my expensive phone to the ground, he didn't even apologize."

Dave was surprised. "Ma'am, I apologized to you and even asked to buy you a new phone and now you're saying I didn't apologize to you?"

He was already getting fed up with her tantrums. She clearly wanted to embarrass him.

Sophia looked up at Dave and couldn't help but smile. He didn't look like someone who could afford such a luxury, perhaps he was only saying this to get Clementine off his back.

"I'm really sorry mister. My sister can be overbearing at times, you don't have to pay for anything," Sophia said to him.

Clementine was furious. "Sophia, what are you saying? This man must pay for the consequences of his actions! He must not go scot-free!"

Sophia immediately glared at her. "You were chatting with that boy again, weren't you?"

Clementine's face was flushed, fixing her gaze to the floor. Sophia sighed, shaking her head. "I've warned you to always look at where you are going but instead you won't listen to me and do as you please. I won't get you a new phone, that's what you get for not listening to me."

"Sophia, don't do this to me!" Clementine cried. She immediately glanced at Dave with hatred in her eyes. "Have you seen what you have caused?! You must follow me to beg my sister immediately!"

"Clementine, that's enough!" Sophia scolded. Her sister has embarrassed this young man enough. "Please sir, you may go your way."

"Okay," Dave said, grateful.

"Now, you, come with me," Sophia said, dragging her sister back to the booth. "This is the reason why I didn't want you to come with me. You always love creating a scene."

"Don't blame everything on me! Assuming your fiance came early, would I have bumped into someone and had my phone smashed? In fact, your fiance must pay for his lateness," Clementine muttered. "And don't tell me you're still going to wait for him."

Sophia sighed. "I have to. Grandpa already warned me not to come back home if we don't meet."

"But he is late! Surely, grandpa would understand."

"Let's wait some more, if he doesn't arrive then we'll leave."

"Okay then."

Dave sat down on the seat reserved for the meeting. Almost all the dishes on the plates were gone.

Maybe she couldn't wait and has left.

"Look, he's finally here," Clementine said with disdain.

Sophia nodded. They could only see his back.

"Hi, you must be Dave," Sophia said with courtesy. "You?"

"You?"

"What a pleasant surprise," Clementine said with a sneer. "Not only did you keep I and my sister here for hours, you even smashed my phone."

"Sophia, don't tell me this is your supposedly fiance."

Sophia wasn't really expecting her fiance to look like this. He wasn't looking decent enough and he looked like an ordinary man without any background.

Why would her grandfather want her to get married to such a man by all means?

Dave chuckled softly. It was indeed a small world. "I'm sorry for arriving late. I was being held in traffic."

"It's fine," Sophia said with a small smile, sitting down. "Since you are already here, I would be straightforward. I'm sure you know why you're here."

"Yes, I–"

"Sophia, what are you doing? You're just going to accept his apology just like that?"

"Clementine, that's enough. You have already embarrassed yourself," Sophia scolded, making her pout.

"I'm sorry about my sister. I'm afraid we have spoilt her too much."

"Hmph."

The following silence was awkward. Sophia coughed slightly and brought out a document from her bag.

"We are mainly in a marriage of convenience. These are the terms of the marriage," She said, handing over the documents to him. She watched as Dave glanced through it. "We won't have any sexual relations with each other. "

"Okay," Dave replied, signing the document.

Sophia was stunned. He didn't even argue about the fact that he wasn't going to touch her. All of her life, she had always been chased by man who wanted her body and this man didn't even think twice before agreeing to her condition.

Seeing that she didn't speak, he said, "Any other thing?"

"No!" She replied.

"Hmph, I'm glad you signed it. Who knows whether you have ill intentions towards my sister, " Clementine said with a glare.

Dave smiled. He had been in a marriage before and he never got to touch his wife all the while they were married. It won't be a nice thing for him to do.

After all, the only reason he was getting married to Sophia was to have full access over his inheritance. Only the heavens knew what his grandfather was thinking before attaching such a condition.

"Dave?" A voice sounded behind him. "What are you doing here?!"
