Chapter 10

"Lord Lincoln, I would never lie to you."

"Your grandmother, Lady Isabella Lincoln, is perfectly okay… what matters now is finding that star key."

"We need to know what your dad has inside of those depository boxes."

Carlos Alfred said, his voice was barely above whispers yet laced with assurance.

Kyle stared at him, nodded and ran off to the Web's mansion.

************************************************

Now inside the Web's mansion, Kyle enters the ante room and turns, immediately he bumped into Juliet, the maid at the Web's mansion.

"What the heck!... don't you watch where you are going?"

Kyle immediately screamed as he held Juliet from falling to the ground.

"I'm really sorry I didn't see you there."

Juliet said as she immediately broke herself off Kyle.

"Where have you been Kyle…I have really missed you."

Juliet's voice was mellifluous as she smiled at Kyle.

"What are you talking about?"

Kyle immediately asked as his demeanor changed from exhilaration to a mixture of confusion and anxiety.

As he stood there, Juliet started drawing closer to him, slowly Kyle went backwards as he anticipated what Juliet was about doing.

"What are you trying to do?"

Kyle asked as he drew backwards towards the velvet curtain on the window.

"What do you think I'm trying to do?" Juliet asked as she stopped in her tracks.

Kyle stared at her in bewilderment, his eyebrows furrowed in a mixture of confusion and anxiety.

"I don't know, you tell me."

Kyle immediately said as he wished that someone would just walk in on them immediately.

"Relax, I was just going to pick up this paper behind you."

Juliet said as she walked around Kyle and picked up a piece of paper behind him.

"You see, I wasn't going to do whatever it is you were thinking."

Juliet said as she smiled gleefully at Kyle who was still wearing a confused face.

Juliet turned immediately and stared intently into the confused eyeballs of Kyle.

The situation was intense as Kyle immediately broke away from her strong and enchanting gaze.

"Kyle I really like you but you just keep making me feel like a fool…is there another person?"

Juliet asked as she immediately threw her gaze away from Kyle.

Her voice was this time a bit hypnotic.

Walking over to her, Kyle held her by the hand as slowly caressed it.

"Juliet…I have to tell you the truth…there is no other one…but…I still can't be with you."

Kyle said, his voice was laced with every atom of seriousness.

Kyle said as he stared into the tears filled eyes of Juliet.

"Just today I just found out that my life is way more complicated than I had imagined…too complicated to be explained to anyone, so avoid asking me questions."

Kyle said as he still held the hands of Juliet as her tears hit the fall slowly but steadily.

"So are you saying you can't give me a chance?"

Juliet asked as she immediately removed her hands from that of Kyle.

The weight of her question hung in the air as Kyle stared askance at her.

"Juliet you wouldn't understand what I'm talking about, at this point I'm as confused as you are."

"My life right now has become too complicated even for myself."

Kyle said as he turned to walk away.

Juliet immediately grabbed his hand, making him immediately stop in his tracks.

"What do you mean your life has become more complicated than you think?"

Juliet asked as she stared askance at Kyle who was still looking the other way.

"Don't bother me again Juliet."

"Just stay out of my way, I have something to find."

Kyle said as his voice was ortund as he immediately ran to his room.

Stepping out to the vestibule again, he immediately noticed that the door was open.

"That's strange…"

Kyle said as he closed the door and ran upstairs with his broom and dustpan, pretending to be going to do his chores.

Tip-toeing towards Sophia's room, Kyle immediately looked in through the keyhole.

His heart thumped faster than usual.

"Seems Sophia isn't around…this better worth it at the end."

Opening the door slowly, Kyle felt someone was watching him, he immediately turned and there was no one behind him.

Walking over to the rail, he gazed down into the vestibule below and there was no one there.

Immediately he entered Sophia's room and began searching carefully for the star key.

Walking over to her dressing table, he drew each drawer with hopes of seeing the star key but all his efforts were in futility.

Immediately his gaze fell on a chest under Sophia's bed and out of frustration, he immediately kicked the chest and to his surprise the chest drew out from under the bed and opened.

Kyle jaw dropped as he stared into the open chest of jewels.

"What the heck is a young teenager doing with all this amount of jewelry?"

Kyle muttered to himself as he began searching for the star key.

The next 14 minutes was a hectic one as Kyle had searched the whole box and there was no sign of the star key.

Beads of sweat were already building down his cheeks.

Standing up immediately he walked towards the door and peeped out the door to make sure no one was spying on him.

As he turned, his eyes flashed on a shimmering golden object hanging on Sophia's dressing mirror.

Scrubbing his eyes slowly, Kyle walked slowly to the mirror.

"The star key!" Kyle screamed in exhilaration as he immediately pocketed the star key and was about to turn to exit Sophia's room.

"And what are you holding?"

The cold and detached voice of a lady bro

ke through immediately causing him to shudder in trepidation.

"Kyle!"

"I asked you a question!"

Kyle immediately swallowed a hard lump…"
