You're fired

Alvin scoffed at them and rolled his eyes, waiting for more drama.

The manager had a sharp eyes and was discerning.

“Customer, is that what happened? I want to hear from you.”

“Manager, what do you mean? Are you doubting me?” The sales attendant quickly interrupted, looking upset.

“Shut up immediately, unless you want to get fired. Customer, please.”

“I came here to take my sister shopping, in my bid to cheer her up. Who would have expected that your sales attendant would insult us? She even tried to slap me, and all I did here was in self defense. You can check the cameras. All the people I hit were those who tried to hit me first. My sister went through a lot last night barely surviving a life and death accident. I brought her here to cheer her up, and let her clean up before we leave. But your good staff assaulted us, frightening my already scarred sister even more. How do you think we should settle this?” Alvin asked, looking straight at the manager.

The manager watched him carefully, trying to make a, decision.

‘His clothes are stained with dried blood, and he has dried wounds on his hands. So what he said about the accident is probably true. Everyone knows Starlight mall only deals in luxury. If he came here to change clothes after an accident, it means he has enough money to pay. The pendant on the girl's neck was made of purple imperial jade, which is very expensive. She's not ordinary. And she's the daughter of the fallen KS group. The boy might be a friend from another powerful family who came to rescue her after hearing about her family's tragedy. The accident could also mean that the people who harmed her parents came for her last night but the young master arrived in time to rescue her. Besides, these two girls are fond of throwing themselves at rich men while treating cleaners with disdain. Their bloody and muddy clothes must have made the staff despise them. And a proud man used to being worshipped can't swallow that, making him retaliate immediately. He didn't leave after causing trouble which means he has backing. And most importantly, he didn't look at me with lewd gaze. Most men immediately lose composure when they see me, but he met my gaze without the slightest signs of faltering. This can only mean that he's used to being around beautiful and powerful women. He can't be a beggar. His disposition doesn't look like an insecure and terrified bum.’

“You have been staring at me for a long time. What? Do you want to attack me too?” Alvin asked interrupting the manager.

She immediately gave him a beautiful smile.

“You must be joking, young master. Why will I attack an esteemed client? Please, come with us. However, to shop in this section, you have to make a deposit which ranges from two hundred thousand dollars to one million dollars in trust. So that in the case where by a cloth being tested is damaged it could be settled amicably, and money for repair would be deducted. It could also be considered tier one membership f*e.” She said, still smiling.

The deposit was a big lie, but she wanted to test if he had the money to pay.

“Okay.” Alvin said without thinking much, and brought out the card.

“System, is the card ready for use?”

“Of course, will I give you a dummy card? It can work on any machine.”

Alvin offered the card to the manager to inspect it.

‘Gold rimmed black card issued by the world bank? In this whole world, there are less than ten people qualified to have it. It's only below the supreme platinum which has not been issued yet. Thank goodness I came out on time. Otherwise, our store would have lost a big cash cow.’ The manager said mentally, her shrew business mind dancing for joy.

“Go bring the withdrawal machine immediately.” She barked at the sales attendant.

The sales attendant grudgingly obeyed, waiting for the card to decline.

“Young master, how much should we withdraw?” She asked, smiling at Alvin.

“How much will be enough to give her a make over? I don't think we remembered to take her clothes along.” He said, looking at her with his brows furrowed.

“One million will be enough.”

“Make it two million, I will also pick a few things for myself.”

The moment Alvin said this, the two sales attendants began to laugh.

“You want to withdraw two million dollars? Do you even have two thousand dollars?” One of them asked, their voice dripping with disdain.

The manager immediately slapped the speaker, and then swiped the card.

“Payment successful, two million dollars received.” The machine announced.

The hearts of the sales attendants and the security guard who have been standing to the side immediately skipped a few beats.

“Impossible! The machine must be faulty.” The sales attendants shouted simultaneously.

The manager slapped them in exasperation, wondering why they wanted to ruin their stores chance of being the first to make massive sales this morning.

“Get lost immediately.” She shouted, and the two sales attendants turned grudgingly to obey.

“Did I say they could leave after frightening my little sister? Such arrogant people that judge based on looks alone, flattering the powerful while oppressing the weak, should not be allowed to continue in Starlight malls. If they continue working here, things like what happened here will continue to happen. You will lose lots of customers. Besides, they're unrepentant. The only condition for me to return here after today is if you fire them.” He said coldly, making the two women terrified.

They immediately went down on their knees.

“Please, forgive us young master. We didn't know you're…”

“Exactly. You didn't know I had money. That was why you humiliated us—because our clothes were stained with mud and blood. You haven't changed at all. You don't regret your actions. You regret not realizing sooner that I'm not what you initially thought.” Alvin said and scoffed at them.

“The both of you are fired, go to HR and process your severance immediately. And if you linger here for a second, you will be arrested and made to pay for damages.” The manager interrupted, making one of the girls to collapse.

The Alvin before him was one he had never seen before, his attire suited him perfectly, making him look like a billionaire CEO. And this was in a situation where he warned the manager to be conservative with money. Now imagine if he bought really expensive items worth millions, like Rolex Daytona. How would he look then? That's the only way you can fulfill your role.” The system's voice finally softened, as he sat on the sofa and picked up a magazine. However, he was in no mood to listen to any more of the system’s nonsense. Just then, he heard footsteps walk into the longue where he was sitting, making him look up. It was Leah and the manager, alongside two new sales attendants who were struggling with the numerous bags containing the things they bought. “Wow!” Alvin whispered, as he watched the newly transformed girl. She no longer looked like the messed up gutter rat he picked up a few hours ago. She was dressed in a designer skirt and top made of the softest pink cashmere, she was wearing a pearl necklace, a silver colored shoe to match her necklace and her soft skin, silver colored purse, a bracelet made of diamonds, and a beautiful pink strap leather watch which looked very expensive. Her hair was styled to perfection and sh

In addition, there are two lucky draws which you can use to draw lots for either techniques, weapons, treasures, or skills. Do you want to cash it out?”Alvin didn't hear the rest of what the system said. He only registered the Lamborghini before the Stars Wave entertainment shares struck him dumb. Stars Wave entertainment was the third biggest entertainment agency in the country and ranks top five in the entire continent. Getting signed to such a company that raised legendary musicians, actors and models was once a dream which he didn't dare to indulge in. But he was casually gifted seventy percent of the shares. “What are you talking about? This car is an automatic, it drove here on its own after I called for it. Are you getting in or not?” Alvin asked and got into the car. Leah who was still hesitating quickly got in because he looked angry and impatient, as if he would really leave her behind. “Leah, it's better not to ask lots of questions in the future. There are lots of things you won't understand about me going forward, and a lot of things that may not make sense to you. But all I promise is that you will be well taken care of.” Alvin added after some thoughts. “Are you into illegal business?” Leah asked slowly, as if picking her words. “No. Do I look like that kind of person? I don't do illegal things, you don't have to worry about that.” Soon, he arrived at a nearby restaurant. It was a four star restaurant and they were already open for business. Some upper class office workers already stopped there to have breakfast on their way to work. Although the restaurant was not fi

How could she have known that her little attempt at having fun by insulting Alvin would result in her being humiliated? She was so angry that all she wanted was to skin him alive, crush his bones, and drink his blood. “But madam…” The one who appears to be the leader said hesitantly, not wanting to get entangled in shit. Lisa looked at them in anger, and noticed the reason for their hesitation. “What are you waiting for? It can't be that you're intimidated by this trash. Everyone turned to the owner of the voice. It was a middle aged man of about forty years of age. He gasped in horror at the broken tables and chair, shattered glasses and vases, blood smeared on the wall, and even more upsetting—the guards lying on the floor like bags of beans. Lisa immediately ran to the man. “Director, it's this piece of trash here. He beat up your men and ruined your restaurant. He even harassed me for no reason.” She shouted, her face twisted with malice. Some of the diners rolled their eyes or gasped at her shamelessness. While some others simply ignored it, finishing up their meals. Clients who were coming in quickly left in search of other eateries the moment they opened the door and saw the big fight going on. We need to proceed with caution.” The director felt distressed. On one side was Alvin with unknown origins, on the other side was Troy Caulfield from the powerful Caulfield family who supported Top Taste lots of times. “I'm a VIP here, and I don't need to tell you how important my boyfriend is to the growth of Top Taste. Yet, you will risk offending us for this beggar.” Lisa shouted angrily. The director immediately got angry. “If you didn't hurt the little girl so much I won't be in so much dilemma. Alvin’s analysis was spot on, and everyone unanimously accepted it as the most plausible one. “I totally agree. And his defiance made her respect him more. She didn't bother getting a casket for the rest, but his body was properly preserved, albeit without clothes.” One of the men whispered, the one who seemed to be Wuque's right hand, doing errands for him. Someone sighed heavily. “So being a good guy made him end up in such a pathetic state.” “Doing good is important, but it should be done with lots of tact and sense, to avoid falling into the fire while trying to rescue someone. He underestimated her because she looked helpless and young. That was the reason such a powerful person was easily overpowered, she used the element of surprise. We must continue to do good. But we should always make sure that our good deeds would not boomerang on us by being cautious before jumping in to save the day.” Murong Wuque whispered. “Should we take his body back to his family? Some of the disciples gasped in amazement on seeing the interior. There was an entire section dedicated to gold, silver and precious stones. Different kinds of weapons were also displayed there alongside some unknown treasures and ancient book. “Hmmm, what's that smell?” Alvin whispered, distracting the disciples who were eagerly checking out the treasures. Murong Wuque was equally frowning, facing the same direction as Alvin. The disciples frowned and quickly ran after them. “You guys are disappointing me. Assuming you came alone, you would have gone straight for the treasures without searching for traps or people lying in wait. What if the treasures were not real but merely an illusion created by a slaughter formation to lure greedy souls in? You would have fallen into the trap all the same. I can't always follow you guys out to missions, you guys should learn how to better protect yourselves.” Murong Wuque snapped, scolding them harshly. He was what one would call a perfect

“Did you find anything?” Alvin muttered the moment Murong Wuque returned. They had finally managed to kill the enchantress after two hours of battle, a very close call. They would have ended up dead if not for Murong Wuque and Alvin who seemed to have a tacit understanding, working in tandem with each other, till Alvin found an opportunity to launch a deadly sneak attack on her. Just as she howled and turned to end him, Murong Wuque added numerous killing blows in quick successions, taking her by surprise. She had wanted to escape but they had locked down the surroundings, disabling teleportation. Although it was disadvantageous for some of them, the gain outweighed the loss of mobility. The rest of the disciples also began to add many attacks, emboldened by Alvin and Murong Wuque’s success. “There are no captives here. She probably already used them for what she intended. The only thing left is her treasury, and it would take some time to pick the lock. We might burn everything do

  • HIDDEN WEAPONS IN ACTION

Alvin wasn't sitting idly by. He grabbed a pillow that somehow found its way to where they were standing, probably during the enchantress’s play with her man-pets, and quickly slapped the monsters closest to him. The others nearly cursed at him, but their words got stuck in their throats. The casual smash with the pillow pulverized the demons it came in contact with. He swung it in an arc, clearing ten demons in a straight line. There was no time to think. The rest drew their weapons, emboldened by the fearless duo. If an unknown cultivator could endure their demonic energy and bloodlust, while delivering fatal strikes, they could do it too. But they soon realized that it was mission impossible. The demons were too powerful, making it hard to easily kill them. The strongest ones could only kill one or two at a time, and there were hundreds of demons and only fifteen of them. It made them wonder how Alvin was able to kill them with a mere pillow. The one carrying the injured culti

What just happened?” “Fellow cultivator, thank you. We truly make a great team.” Murong Wuque said, smiling at Alvin. “Ah? What does that mean? Was he the person who made the arrows stop?” The disciples refused to believe it even when the proof was right before them. After all, how could a waste be able to achieve such a feat? Surely their first brother was confused and didn't realize when he did it. “He truly stopped the arrows.” Another senior whispered, making everyone stunned. But they were in for more surprises. They entered the palace and went down the hallway till they came into a huge room. The room was designed in scarlett and a huge king sized bed was on the platform. There was a huge shelf at the end with countless human skulls, exhibited as if they were some sort of trophy. On the bed was a woman dressed in

After a battle which lasted five minutes, the last monster fell dead. However, one of the disciples was injured by a deep claw slash, making blood gush out, and it also seemed as if the claw was infected. Murong Wuque walked to him whereas another disciple was supporting him. He made a swift slash on the wound and extracted the toxin. Without a word, he brought out a bottle of pills and herbs from his pouch. He stuffed the pill into the young man's mouth, and sprinkled some herbs on the wound. He raised his cloak and tore off some pieces of clothes from his inner layer of gown and used it to bandage the wound, before adjusting the boy's clothes. Everyone was watching Murong Wuque in shock. He was someone obsessed with cleanliness and image, but he willingly ruined his precious clothes to turn it into a bandage to stop the bleeding. He handled the situation efficiently, as if he had been a doctor for ages. It seemed that when it comes to his fellow disciples’ safety, his principle

  • sinking into the demon's trap

They arrived at a cave, which had a pitch-black interior. The air was chilly, the atmosphere creepy. Almost immediately someone turned on a kind of ancient torch which produced flames the moment it is opened and comes in contact with air. Murong Wuque accepted the flaming torch from one of the boys and quickly began to move inside. He suddenly stopped as a sense of foreboding arose in him. Alvin also felt it and looked around. But before they could find the source, the ground opened up and swallowed them. The batch behind barely had time to jump back, narrowly escaping the trap. However, all the disciples of the valley, alongside Alvin, were swallowed. The remaining ones were the weaker vagrant cultivators who came to offer assistance in exchange for the bounty. “This is bad, there's a trap here.” One of the men whispered in panic. “This is terrifying. “You, what are you still waiting for? Go take a spare horse from one of the juniors and follow me. I want to see you at all times. Since you specifically came to me, I have to protect you.” Murong Wuque shouted, making Alvin turn to him. “I don't need your protection. Protect your ass and your dumb charges. I can manage just fine on my own.” Murong Wuque chuckled and looked up at him. “What's your name? I can't keep shouting ‘you! You!’ all the time.” Alvin frowned, wondering what name to offer them, a name that wouldn't connect him to any martial arts clan, considering what he was about to do. If his name seemed familiar, after realizing he stole something, they might wage war against the clan they think he came from. But he had no idea about the names of powerful clans in the area. In a spur-of-the-moment decision, he decided to go with the closest Chinese name that has the same pronunciation as his original name. “My name is An Kai.” “An Kai.” Murong Wuque repe

Murong Wuque smiled as he listened to Alvin. “Oh? What could I possibly have that's worth stealing?” He asked, still smiling kindly, knowing that he was close to the answer. Alvin grinned and pinched his cheek lightly. Murong Wuque was doing his best to keep his emotions full of smiles to avoid frightening the bird away from the trap he finally managed to rope him into. Alvin grinned at him and pulled him closer. “I want to steal…”“—your heart.” He completed, smiling brightly at him with that drunk look in his eyes. The smile on Murong Wuque’s face froze and his heart skipped a few beats, not expecting the direction his little investigation steered in. He swallowed the lump in his throat, a bone chilling coldness in his eyes at being deceived. But it disappeared as soon as it came, with his face being all smiles again. “But we're both men.
