Chapter 7

A black silhouette of a man sprinted quickly through the woods, running past the trees and obstacles as fast as possible.

How the figure leapt and how fast it ran, it was almost humanly impossible.

The person was fleeing from something and occasionally looking back to see if it had lost whatever was in pursuit.

Mason could see the figure fleeing and he tried as fast as he could to catch up with the person. He was in pursuit of the person, and desperately needs to catch the person by all means necessary.

It was in the middle of the night and it was difficult for taizai to keep track of the person fleeing, since there was no light and the moon was the only source of light.

The trees as well did not help, because they provided cover for the person to run in between and hide.

And again the person was wearing all black, making it harder to spot.

Mason skidded to a stop immediately as he looked around frantically through the dark so as to discern where the person had ran off to, or where the person was currently hiding.

His heart was beating really fast and adrenaline was pumping all through his body. Sweat was poring down his body.

"shit shit shit, I lost him. No, no, no"

Mason cursed under his breath as he tried very hard to find the person in the dark.

"I can not afford to lose this person now. I need answers, I really can't... "

Mason w as determined and was not going to give up just yet.

As he was in that predicament, his mind quickly flashed back to how he ended up in that situation.

ONE WEEK EARLIER

Mason stepped out of the hospital and paused for a while to breath the fresh air.

"should I really have saved that woman?" he asked himself.

He was still having double thoughts about having saved Tanya's grand MA, the woman had been on his neck right from the very beginning and now he just saved her life.

"I did it for Tanya, nothing else " he consoled himself with that.

Just when he was about going to his car his phone rang and he brought it out from his pocket to look at it, and it was an unknown number calling.

"Hi Mason on the line. Who am I speaking to? "

He answered the call politely, asking whomever was at the other end of the phone.

"Mason Parker , I have texted you an address and I want you to immediately go to the address. "

A male voice spoke quickly through the phone.

"Hello, please who is this? "Mason was Confused and had to ask the person

"If you want answers about your family and your parents death, go to that address immediately"

The person said.

And what the person immediately caught Mason’s attention and he began bombarding the person with questions

"hello, what do you mean? "

"who are you? "

"what do you know about my family?"

"ANSWER ME BASTARD! "Mason screamed as he got frustrated

He looked at his phone and realised the person had already hung up and it got him pissed.

Just immediately the text message came and he was the address as the person had said.

Without even thinking he got on his car and immediately drove off to the address hoping to find answers.

The address lead mason to an abandoned alleyway. It was dark and sketchy to Mason but he had no choice but to follow the address since he wanted answers.

Mason continued to walk deeper into the alley hoping to find someone, but there was no one other than a few stray cats.

He took out his phone and tried to dial the number that called him earlier but for some reason it did not go.

"this could be a trap and I have fallen right for it. "mason said as he berated him self but he did not stop.

One thing Mason was known for was his determination.

"smoke? "

Mason said as he saw something like sole envelope the surrounding.

Cough! Cough!!

He began coughing as he inhaled the smoke. He placed his hand on his nose to try keeping out the smoke.

A few seconds later he started feeling light headed. He stopped moving and his vision began going blurry.

"oh no!, it's a sleeping gas Of some sort... "

He realized and fell on the ground unable to muster the strength to do anything.

"somebody help "

He murmured out as he struggled to stay awake, But there was no strength left in him anymore.

He saw two figures Of people approaching him but his vision was blurry for him to make out anything.

He soon passed out as they got close to him, And they took him away.

Mason woke up some hours later and discovered he could not see, there was something wrapped around his eyes. A blindfold.

He groaned since his head still hurt at he still felt groggy.

"ughh"

He managed to say as he tried to speak, his throat was dry and his voice hoarse.

"where am I?" He asked.

There was no sound so he tried to move but he discovered he could not as well.

His hands were tied up behind his back and his legs were tied up as well.

He was sitting on a chair not sure what was happening.

He heard movement as the door opened and he moved his head to the direction " who is there and what is happening here? "

Mason asked becoming scared because of his current situation.

"apologies for our crude hospitality Mason, But it is neccesary ."

Someone spoke up, the person who just entered the room.

"I don't understand what is happening, let me go. "

Mason demanded.

"I'm sorry I can't do that, but don't worry we will let you go soon. We promised you answers did we not? You will certainly get answers "

The man said again..

Mason remained silent after hearing the man speak, he really wanted answers at the moment.

"are you the person that called me? "

"yes I am" the person said.

"this is really uncomfortable, I want to be free right now "Mason demanded again since the feeling of being bound was really uncomfortable

"you will be free, just let us do our thing "the man said

"do what? "Mason asked but the Man did not reply him again.

Mason immediately felt someone take his Right arm, lift his sleeves Up to reveal his skin and then pressed something there.

Immediately after,Mason felt a burning sensation on that spot and the burning kept rising and rising, the pain increasing with each passing seCind. Almost like there was hot iron pressed against his skin.

Mason screamed out in pain since it became unbearable

"pls stop " he pleaded

"hand in there Mason , we are almost down "the voice said again.

"pls stop "mason pleased once more and the pain became excruciating, he started feeling light headed and then he passed out.

Just before he passed out however, the man said to him again.

"listen mason when you wake up make sure you go to the address in your pocket, your life and that of your family depends on it And you will find everything you need to know there. Good bye. "
