Chapter Fifty-Two

Ava's heart was pounding in her chest as she sat in Mr Benedict's study, waiting for him to join her. She had been waiting there for the past ten minutes, when he told her he was only going to take a few seconds. She shut her eyes tightly and inhaled deeply. After taking in enough air, she exhaled sharply, releasing all the air she took in.

"Why are you nervous, Ava?" She asked herself. "You know you can do this, right?"

The door slowly opened, and again, Ava sighed deeply. Mr Benedict walked into his study with a smirk on his lips.

"I am sorry for keeping you waiting," he apologized.

"Not when you are wearing a smirk like that one. Apology is not accepted."

Mr Benedict smiled deeply as he grabbed another chair by the wall and moved it closer to the couch where Ava was seated. He sat on the chair and faced Ava.

"You are such a smart kid," he told her.

"What were you doing in your room?" She demanded.

He shook his head and sucked his teeth.

"Nothing!" He replied.
