"And I will not accept her going after another man while I'm still her husband on paper!" Jaxon retorts coldly. For the first time he opened his mouth and went against his mother-in-law's words which baffled her and Diana.

Jaxon wasn't jealous, no, it was far from that. It was his dignity that was on line. Even him felt relieved that the marriage will be ending in a month's time after all he and Diana have no love between them. But, it will be a blow to his pride if Diana was to be with another man while the both of them are still married.

"You piece of useless piece of human! Did I ask for your opinion?" Weiwei Xing let out harshly at Jaxon, "I am just informing you, you do not have a say in this so sit still and keep your mouth shut!"

Jaxon clenched his fist in anger as he heard those words, despite always keeping his cool whenever he always received insults from her but this has reached a part he felt like he wouldn't be able to resist retaliating at her.

Just as Jaxon's eyes were turning colder and he was about to respond to Weiwei Xing, Diana beat him to it, subconsciously saving her mother from Jaxon's wrath, "mom, I can't and will never do such a thing! What is the difference between me and those whores like women outside that sleep with men while their husbands are at home if I go on a date with another man while still bound by the contract?"

"Hmph! What is wrong with that?! To me it is absolutely perfect! After all, you will be divorcing this piece of trash very soon and it is normal to start hunting for another husband with a bigger background than him!" Weiwei Xing retorted as she folded her hand in displeasure.

"Tell me my dear daughter, do you want to spend the rest of your life living with a loser that brings you nothing but shame on a daily basis? Don't you want a man with a bigger background who can stand up for the family? Carry the burden of your problems? Heck, even his mere presence will bring you favour from others and not disgust and ridicule like this piece of scum brings!" Weiwei Xing yells at the end of her sentences.

"Yes, I know I look down on him and even find his presence a bit provoking, but I can't just start dating a man while we are still together!" Diana retorts as she subconsciously remembers the strong figure of Jaxon back in the hotel when he stood against the Boss and easily took care of his gangs.

Meanwhile, Jaxon scoffed inwardly after hearing his wife affirmation that she looks down on him, 'Tsk, like hell you're worth me considering.'

Jaxon could remember that ever since he was brought here by Diana's father, he has made sure to do all the house chores just to lessen the burden on Diana's mother but, the women never appreciates and even went as far as to throw curses at him at any given chances but Jaxon never respond back to her as he remembered he promised Diana's father to always take care of the family.

"So, Diana, it is a must for you to come for this party or else I will have no choice but do something terrible!" Weiwei Xing threatened with a cold look

Diana couldn't help but look at Jaxon who was sitting on the chair with a nonchalant face, his emotions hidden behind those cold looks. At that moment she felt like she had to make a choice of either obeying her mother or sticking with her thoughts and starting with Jaxon.

Thinking about it, Jaxon has nothing to offer but her female instincts told her that that will be the most foolish idea if she goes against Jaxon.

Left with no choice she grit her teeth and said after a long internal struggle, "I accept your request, mother."

Hearing Diana's words, Weiwei Xing shot Jaxon a look of victories but the next word from Diana shattered her sense of victory.

"On the condition that Jaxon will follow me to the party. If not, you can do your worst and I wouldn't still go."

Jaxon sighs as he hears Diana's words, he never expected the woman who was cold and will not hesitate to abandon him at any given moment to truly stand for him at such a time.

'It seems like my little 4 seconds flex of martial arts has made her see me in a newer light. Indeed, true love might be based on materialistic stuff. Had she known of my family background then I am certain she would have fallen head over heels for me by now. Or maybe she just has a favourable opinion about me and feels sympathetic that my pride will be destroyed if she goes after a man while I am still here.'

Jaxon thought mockingly, a thought hidden by his calm look.

Not interested in listening to the mother and daughter argument, Jaxon stood up while saying, "I will be going to bed. If you have anything I can help you with, do not hesitate to call me." Not even turning around to look at them, he moved towards the stairs which lead to his room.

"You piece of scum! Who gave you the gut to leave while I am still speaking?! Get back here, now!" Weiwei Xing yelled but Jaxon ignored her and headed to his room.

But just then, Diana called out to him, making him halt, "Jaxon, will it be okay for you to follow me to the party tomorrow?"

"Time?"

"9:00 PM"

"Okay, I will."

The next day at Diana's workplace.

After Rex taught the Boss a lesson, he didn't dare mess around with Diana again and even sent her the stuff she requires to start her work early in the morning.

Evening time.

Jaxon was engrossed in the newspaper, sitting comfortably in his room, when Diana suddenly entered and dropped a neat bundle of $100 bills onto his lap. "Here's your monthly allowance - $3,000," she said with a gentle tone.

Jaxon barely looked up, his gaze flicking casually at the cash before responding, "That's quite generous, thanks anyway."

"What's with that indifference look of yours?" Diana suddenly found herself annoyed by Jaxon's indifference expression. She originally wanted to thank him for saving her from the hands of the boss, but after seeing such a look she felt provoked, "my grandfather has just undergone a surgery and will be discharged tomorrow evening. So, after tonight's party, I want you to get a gift prepared for when we will be visiting him tomorrow afternoon. Hmph! Also, buy some decent clothes and gifts and don't humiliated me as usual"

Slam!

Following that, she stomped out of the room, slamming the door and leaving Jaxon speechless.
