While Gabriel walked along the street, Riggs, who was in the direction he was walking towards, began coming in his direction too.As they came close, about to pass each other, Riggs deliberately hit him, but he did it as though it was a mistake and was all Gabriel's fault. Gabriel was expecting Mueller to say something after him but he waited and there was no word coming forth nor was there a sign that he would say anything. I do not know what to think about them again. They seem harmful and harmless at the same time. Gabriel kept on dwelling in the city of Mayca while his mind told the final conclusion on the decision of leaving Mayca to Cyb. While he patrolled the city a very fateful day, still on the lookout for Kevin, Gross and Riggs if they were following him. Chapter 16. Vital information.
Gabriel was brought to the home of Mueller by night and he remained unconscious till noon the following day when the sun was already hot. It was a very sunny day.When Gabriel finally woke up at noon, he saw himself lying on a bed in a well arranged room. He was surprised as he woke up there, then remembered that he was not staying with anybody. So the happenings of the previous night gradually flash through his mind and soon he concluded that he was in the den of his capturers and must escape since he was hearing no sound as a sign that they were around.As he came out of bed and gently opened the entrance door to the room where he was, he was so shocked to see that the next room looked very much like that of Mueller. Chapter 17. Surrender.
As the ravens which were sent to deliver this message across to these group leaders flew around the city of Mayca. It was spotted by some soldiers of Mayca who noticed it was from another city and it only meant that spies were in their territory. So they hunted the raven bird down to find out what message it was carrying with it and who it was sending them to.These men were successful in their hunt so they took both the bird and the message it carried to their governor Byron. The bird was not hurt for a very good reason.When this message was brought to the house of Byron, he was not shocked about the news. At least, it has created the awareness to him that Monroe was also after Gabriel and he knew that Gabriel was of a high importance. Five hours had passed and Gabriel was still being carried as the men moved at a very fast pace and yet they showed no sign of being tired.One can call it luck or something else but to Gabriel he did not care what it was called as long as it would cause him to escape, it was fine by him. Due to the sounds of their running footsteps, soldiers of Mayca on patrol were able to track and cut them off.Some came out from behind while some out in front. The total number of soldiers that had appeared were ten, meaning that there was going to be a fair fight; eight against ten.Gabriel was thrown to the ground as the soldiers attacked. Now the soldiers on the assignment in Mayca sent by governor Monroe Howard were reduced in number. Out of the nine divisions, only one was remaining and since they had noticed that the other dispatchments were all killed. It was time they aborted the mission to return to Ceevah.It was after they came to the place where Gabriel was taken by the soldiers and saw their fellows lying lifeless. They surveyed the area and saw the loosed ropes which were used in tying Gabriel then they knew of a certain that Gabriel was either taken by the soldiers or that he had left the city of Mayca because no man in his right sense of mind will after escaping such threat against his life and still decide to remain in the land. With the departure of the last group of spies from Mayca which was monitored by Gross and Riggs as they left after finding the corpses of the fellows. Gross and Riggs allowed them to leave not because they could not have stopped and killed them like they did to the others. But because they knew that the men were giving up and a message needed to be passed to Monroe that his men were not successful in the simple but difficult mission which they were instructed to carry out.With this retreat, Gross and Riggs also discovered that Gabriel might have been taken by their men to Byron or that he might have left the city. The same conclusion which was drawn by the spies.As they were yet to discover which of these conclusions was absolute, a message reached them from Byron through his raven bird, telling them that Gabriel was now safely in his house.
