Chapter Seventy: Aftermath (1)
Two figures moved through the school, dashing over cars and scaling walls and buildings with incredible finesse and skill. As they blurred past a flickering streetlight, the white light caught both their faces for a short second. Both had Eastern origins based on their physical features, which was also exceptionally aesthetically pleasant though each differed in their own manner. One of them was a blonde, with snow white hair that fell around his face in a refreshingly bed-hair style. His face was quite handsome in a roguish manner that complemented the mischief and deviancy that lit his coal dark eyes. His lips were slightly drawn back in a perpetually sly smirk that seemed perfectly at home on his face. The other individual was more of a mixture of two different spectrums of attractiveness. His physiology was a perfect balance of an aristocratic cold aloofness with a delicate playboy appearance. His features were soft but well defined despite the flat thin-lipped expression h

Chapter Seventy One: Aftermath (2)
The moment he plunged through the wall of the first building, Lee knew that things had gone drastically different from how he had hoped, at least what Ryusuke would have hoped. As soon as he touched down on the floor of the first corridor, Lee let his blood aura flare out as much as possible to suffuse the entire building. He scanned through each floor rapidly in search of even a trace of his alpha's residual energy. Or a lack of it more like, since Michael's ability did not tend to leave much behind. His scan came out negative much to Lee's annoyance. He quickly put aside his disappointment and disconcertion though and refocused his attention on the tracking Blood Magic spell that he had casted earlier. The spell had not picked up any traces of his leader's power in this building, but it had detected a faint hint of a familiar destructive energy lingering in the air around the block. Without wasting anymore time, Lee flexed good fingers, causing the claws on his hands to exte

Chapter Seventy Two: Aftermath (3)
Of all the people Michael had ever expected to stop him from committing an act as murder, he never expected it to be Lee Shen. The single most bloodthirsty person Michael had ever met was currently preventing him from ending an assassin that had been sent to kill him. The sheer absurdity of the scenario was what actually stunned Micheal long enough for Lee to dash up to him, grab his collar and push him up against the wall of a nearby building. "What the fuck do you think you're doing?" The white haired Asian growled as he held up his own leader by the scruff of the latter's shirt. The gray in Michael's eyes finally faded slowly and the crushing pressure in the area vanished as his energy was retracted back to himself. The expression of utter apathy on Michael's face soon disappeared and was replaced by a flat stare that shifted from the hand holding him up to the person the hand was connected to. "Have you finally lost it?" He asked slowly. "Don't give me that shit!"

Chapter Seventy Three: Interrogation and Decisions (1)
"Contrary to whatever you may think of me, I do know a lost fight when I see one, hence I have no reason to refuse your generous offer," Rin said in a polite manner. "Ask your questions and we shall do our best to answer." "That's surprisingly cooperative," Jade remarked with a little snark in her voice. "You'd be surprised at just what it took to get her there," Lee murmured to himself. Michael glanced over at him for a brief moment before returning his focus back to the matter at hand. "First of all, who sent you here and why?" They already knew the suspected answer to those questions but further clarification was needed, especially in the case of Diana since she would have to prepare a documented report on the events of the whole issue. As the only present half of the supervisors' committee, it fell on her to maintain a steady line of connection between the Peace Program and the higher ups of the three main factions. Rin cleared her throat before she began her presentation. "W

Chapter Seventy Four: Interrogation and Decisions (2)
"Variants are human beings who possess specific supernatural powers that have no origins in Arcane Magic," Diana explained. "Powers such as yours that cannot be recreated through regular magic without a series of extremely complex spells fall under that category." "Is that so?" Ryusuke asked with a thought expression. He pulled out his sword and unsheathed it slowly in clear view of everyone in the room. The last thing he wanted at the moment was for any of these monsters to take his actions as a threat. "Our clans gifted us with these weapons when we came of age. Iden-teki sōbi; that is what they are called where we come from." "Hereditary Gear," Lee translated for the rest of the room and nodded in understanding. "Guess that makes sense." "But that doesn't really clear up the picture as to what exactly their abilities are," Olivia pointed out the obvious flaw in that line of thought. "Variant abilities cannot be passed down from generation to generation like they said the

Chapter Seventy Five: Consequences
The blue irises of Rin's eyes narrowed considerably in an instant when she heard those words. A slight glow flashed through her eyes as she slowly asked Lee to go into detail about what he had said. "What's there to explain?" He replied and fell back in the couch lazily. "She must have gained a somewhat accurate measure of your strength to have decided to send you guys here all on your own without more backup." "But how?" Ryusuke wondered out loud. "We only ever came into contact with her once when she hired us. Every other communication following that was done though supernatural means." "Even a single glance is enough for a well trained wielder of the Celestial Eyes," Diana said. She would know, seeing as she had been trained for decades in the use of the gift. The Eyes of God always endeavored to watch out for its wielder, which was why it had not exposed its true self to the Hunters at any point in time before she had chosen to do so herself. After all, considering the mind be

Chapter Seventy Six: Tricks of the Mind
"Thank you for your trust," Diana said and stared directly into the younger girl's eyes. The process was so quick that Rin barely even felt a thing as the consciousness of Diana Stone breezed through her lowered awareness and into the deep maze that was the mind of Rin Sakai. Mind reading was a very delicate technique that was done only by mages who had mastered the art of Ether Weaving. As the energy that was an omnipresent component of all matter, ether was of course present in the sensitive composition of the mind. If a mage wished to traverse through the mind of an individual, he or she would have to be quite skilled in ether manipulation through the use of one's own maybe energy, a technique called Ether Weaving. But Diana did not bother with any of those. Those conditions after all only applied to regular mages and the like. For someone like her who possessed the Eyes of God, it was child's play to infiltrate the mental depths of the female assassin's mind. Rather than h

Chapter Seventy Seven: A Burning Heat
"It's been a while since I walked these walls," Arthur mused out loud as he sauntered down a large old fashioned arched hallway that was constructed out of stone. His steps were light, so much so that it was practically impossible to hear them despite the emptiness of the hallway. The young man was dressed in a combination of black jeans and a burgundy form fitting shirt that was covered by a loose black jacket with multiple pockets on the side. His light blonde hair had also been parted to the side in a style quite similar to a wave, leaving the rest of his hair to smoothed down neatly. The overall demeanor of the young man was surprisingly light and at a sharp contrast to the gloominess of the large castle whose walls he was traversing. Soon he made his way out of that particular hallway and into a large traditional courtyard that all but radiated abandonment. The grassy areas had overgrown their boundaries and had already taken over most of the concrete pathways within the

Chapter Seventy Eight: Debriefing
It was very obvious that this person was the source of the sudden heat that had filled the room. A slight sweat broke out across Chuck's forehead, one that was not caused by the heat but rather by a subconscious apprehensiveness of the level of power that was just pouring off this individual. He knew who she was of course, though he had never seen her face before but he could not honestly say he wanted to. There were several rumours among the lower ranks of The Order about the mysterious Variant who always wore a veil and barely ever left the castle. Some people said it was because of her insane beauty that she hid herself from public view, a few others theorised that it might have something to do with her Variant ability. The latter was also rumored to be among the most powerful in the entire Order and at the moment Chuck was very much inclined to believe that. After all... This woman was a member of the Upper Four Heralds. "That is enough." Her voice was clear and crisp, and

Chapter Seventy Nine: A Warning
"So what if he's strong?" Cindy spoke up first as expected by every body in the chamber. "He's a Variant just like the rest of us. And every Variant ability has a weakness. You said so yourself—" Katherine laughed. It was a small thing, soft and high in tone that lasted only a couple of seconds but it was enough to plunge the entire room into pensive silence. An uncertain frown grew on Cindy's beautiful face, one that only enhanced the vindictive smirk that Chuck had on as he watched the whole thing. Finally the woman spoke and the words she said were not at all what they had expected. "Yes you are right that I said that, as well as the fact that he is a Variant. But my dear, do not make the mistake of even imagining to be on the same level as a centuries old werewolf with powers whose origins you cannot even begin to comprehend." The woman then turned her gaze on the rest of the room. Her eyes glowed even brighter and her voice seemed to gain an additional echo to it. "While
