CHAPTER 61
As Carsen and his family members were walking back to the main gate, the guard saw Jim tagging along with them and quickly intervened, saying, “Sir, this one’s a poor thief and a trickster. Don’t let him fool—”BAM~!Carsen swiftly slapped the guard, leaving him shocked.“Watch your words,” Carsen growled at him. “How dare you call this esteemed guest a thief?”The guard looked extremely baffled and hurt as well because Carsen didn’t hold back in putting strength into the slap.“Apologize to him right away,” Carsen ordered, shaking like an alpha grizzly bear. The guard frowned and then quickly lowered his head before Jim, “I’m sorry, sir. I must have mistaken you for someone else.”“Forget it,” Jim waved his hand rather indifferently and looked at Carsen. “Let’s go, sir. We can’t waste even a second with this case.”“You’re right.” Carsen and Jim hurried first into Carsen’s personal office. When Jim played the audio on his mobile, it was so shocking, Carsen sent his family members out

CHAPTER 62
By midnight, two security guards were stationed outside Julia’s house. They were wearing casual outfits and were roaming like ordinary people, but they were hiding guns in many places, including many corners of Julia’s house. After Jim told Julia and Daniel about the guards, he said he had to return to his home because Rena would have long come back. Though Daniel wanted him to stay, Julia told him to go home.Jim told Daniel to be brave and take care of his mother. He then headed home.At Lola’s house.Marc was talking with his two daughters while having breakfast. “It’s been more than a day since Jim left the house. His phone is switched off, so I can’t help but wonder what kind of stupid habits he’s learning outside. It’s never a good sign when a man, especially a jobless man, stays outside home for a long time.” His target was his eldest daughter, but she was calmly eating. “Rena… did you hear what I said?”“I did,” Rena looked rather tired because she had to walk a lot during her

Jim’s sweet words melted Rena’s heart enough to give him the green signal. However, she asked him for some time to arrange the 5000 dollars.Jim understood from her words that she probably wasn’t planning to tell her mother she needed 5000 dollars for some personal reasons. She might rather ask her friends for some money. Jim knew that this wasn’t a good move, but how could he tell her that when he was the one receiving help?“I hope she won’t take the money for interest, but 5000 dollars isn’t a small amount. Even if we add 20% yearly interest, it will become 6000 dollars in a year. If it’s monthly, that’s even worse,” Jim thought. “If Lola learns about this, she won’t let Rena be. I have to warn Rena as soon as possible, but in a way she’ll understand it, instead of thinking I’m just being too bothersome.”Somewhere else in the city.Bernard Williams was traveling in a special SUV personally built for him. This looked much more classier than Carsen’s vehicle.“I heard Carsen’s daugh

Bob and Lola came out of the museum, wearing masks that covered their noses and mouths, so that people wouldn’t recognize them. They both quickly got into a taxi that was waiting for them and left. The driver was also a worker of the same company, so they could freely talk about what happened inside the museum.“How did you come to know about this company called Silent Soul?” Bob curiously asked. “From outside, it looked like a regular museum. Honestly, I didn’t believe you until I was shown video footage of all the auctions they made in the past. It’s a multi billion dollar business. So, how did you come to know about them?”“It’s a secret, so I can’t tell you,” Lola said.“Oh, it’s fine. I’m just glad that I can sell those paintings I drew when I was horny,” Bob laughed a little. “I never showed those paintings to anybody, not even my ex-wife, but I’m happy they finally became useful thanks to your idea of selling them. In two weeks, I’ll be able to pay you the money you want, but o

Jim and Rena didn’t spend as much time showering as both of them wanted because Rena’s mobile rang multiple times, and she had to leave.Jim, however, spent more time relaxing in the bathtub. The cold water relaxed his muscles very much.[You look so happy, but did you forget that you need to make your aunt pay for me to recognize you as my master?] Joe reminded him.“She’s changed her mind and is willing to buy a restaurant for me,” Jim reasoned. “So, what’s the point of taking revenge now?”[She made you suffer for years after marriage, Jim. She blatantly told you that she won’t give you a penny.] Joe blurted. [Such a woman wouldn’t change her mind overnight, definitely not for a good reason. You have all the more reason to be worried now because she wants to help you.]Jim’s expression changed. “You think she has some ulterior motive?”[I’d be more surprised if she didn’t.]Jim frowned. “She definitely said she won’t give my money back, but we don’t know for sure if she cursed the

Marc didn’t go out alone in the car but took Shiney with him. It was actually Shiney who wanted to ride the car at night, but Lola wouldn’t agree to that, so Marc had to take permission from Lola. After driving for a while, they bought ice creams and had a great time before returning home at around one o’clock in the night. To Shiney’s surprise, Jim was talking with some stranger—Jim’s bodyguard in disguise—outside the gate. Seeing them, Jim came and opened the car door.“Thanks,” Shiney said and stepped out. She lifted up the keys in her hand. “Want to go for a ride?”“I don’t think so,” Marc quickly came and pulled the keys out of her hand before parking the car inside the house and then told Jim and Shiney to come inside as he needed to properly close the gates and switch on the alarm system in case some thieves tried to break in and steal the car.“Driving at night, and that, too, a lambo… it’s dangerous,” Jim told Shiney. “What’s more, you took your father along. Do you have any

The next morning.Jim had been waiting outside in his suit for almost an hour. Shiney was the first to come out. Seeing Jim in the black suit, she cast a romantic smile at him. “I never thought that the most handsome man in the world would become my… brother-in-law. God surely has something against me.”Jim heard her loud and clear, so he said, “Maybe he’s kept aside someone who’s better and more fitting to you.”“I highly doubt that,” she snorted and then came and sat on the hood of the lambo.Moments later, Lola came out of the house and yelled at Shiney straight away, “Where are you sitting? Get your ass off the car!”Shiney quickly got up.“Couldn’t you find a better place to sit at?” Lola scolded her some more.“M-Mom, I was…” Shiney tried to explain, but Lola didn’t let her. Jim was amused from seeing Shiney get scolded.Eventually, everyone in the house came out as they were all going to Drake's restaurant, the one previously owned by Marcus Drake, Jim’s dad.Jim wanted to ente

“Hi, I’m Bertha Lock. It’s very nice to meet you,” the old owner said and then introduced her daughter and son-in-law. “This is Carrie. She’s the manager of this restaurant, and this is her husband, Freddy. He’s the vice-manager.”Carrie looked like a younger version of Bertha. She was a bit chubby and cute to look at, but her tall husband had this strange look on his face, which made Rena wonder if he was feeling okay or not.Though Jim was smiling, he didn’t like the frozen look Freddy was giving to his wife.“Please sit,” Bertha politely told them and then made Freddy bring drinks and desserts for everyone. Her friendliness and hospitality really made Jim and others feel welcomed.Lola finally cut the pleasantries and started the real conversation, “Mrs. Bertha, you know the reason we came here.” She pointed at Jim. “His dad built this place. Unfortunately after his dad passed away, he had to sell it for personal reasons, but now, he wants to buy this restaurant back. I already ta

Seeing Jim and his family members come out of the restaurant, the coconut shop owner Luke strung half-dozen coconuts together and brought them over with great effort.“Jim, you seem to be in a bad mood,” Luke said. “Want me to give you another coconut. It will calm your nerves.”“Hey, geezer,” Marc snorted, “do we look like we’ll drink coconut water from you? You look like you haven’t washed your clothes in a long while!”“S-Sir, these spots don’t go even if I wash them because I received them while cutting banana trees,” Luke said. “But I wash this shirt once every week.”“Once every week?” Marc’s expression warped. “Get the hell out of my sight, or don’t blame me if I kick you away!”Luke leaned closer to Jim and whispered, “Take these with you.” Saying that he walked away quickly.“Hey, why aren’t you taking these coconuts away?” Marc asked aloud, but Luke didn’t respond. Marc then angrily looked at Jim. “Did you pay him secretly?”“I know him, Uncle,” Jim said. “He gave these for

Shiney’s heart jumped into her throat when the bird smashed the glass window and began to scream and rolled in the back seat. It turned out to be a big peregrine falcon.“A bird?” Shiney’s heart was able to return to its position after confirming that it was just a bird.Jim, on the other hand, looked a bit frozen for a second. He opened the door and grabbed the falcon by the throat and forcibly brought it outside and took it to the side.“What’s he doing?” Shiney looked at her dad.“He probably wants to beat the shit out of it,” Marc said. “I’d do that if it was up to me. But…” he glanced back and saw the broken window. “It’s a tough glass. A bird shouldn’t be able to break it.”“It looked like a falcon, Dad. It must have come super-fast,” Shiney opined. “Luckily, Jim moved out of the way, or it’d have probably hit him on the neck.”Meanwhile, Jim was observing the falcon. Its eyes were completely red as if someone painted red on its eyes. Its pupils were barely visible. “The strengt
