CHAPTER FORTY ONE
"Kayla? What's going on?"Reynold asked as he saw her burst into the house. Her expression was hardned and begging to not be approached - not that it did anything to Reynold. She blew past in a whirlwind, barking over her shoulder. "I have to prep for tomorrow's make-up meeting."Frowning in confusion, Reynolds followed Kayla upstairs. He found her furiously booting up her computer, files splayed across the bedspread."Whoa, slow down.” he implored. "Did something happen at work?"Kayla snatched a folder, rifling through papers. "Somehow incorrect financials got circulated for today's merger negotiation. God fucks! It made me look like a bumbling idiot, unprepared with the right data!" Kayla spewed out the full story, typing rapidly between gesticulations."Those numbers couldn't have changed spontaneously," she added. “I am sure someone messed with it and I am going to get to the bottom of this.”“It could have been a mistake… you should also consider that, we have to be rational,

CHAPTER FORTY TWO
As Lei steered the sleek maybach into the nearly empty parking lot, Kayla triple-checked the address scribbled in her planner. She didn’t recognize the sign reading “Renova Steakhouse,” but then again, she’d never visited this upscale restaurant clear across town.Glancing at the dashboard clock showing 8:47am, Kayla grimaced. Due to the jackknifed tractor trailer on the freeway, a lot of time had been lost and she had almost gotten late yet again. But she had managed to arrive before the Zhang team.Letting herself into the silent restaurant, Kayla informed the bemused hostess, “I’m here for the 9 o’clock Zhang Corporation breakfast.” “Zhang Corporation?” The hostess shook her head. “We have no reservations under that name.”Kayla frowned, digging for her planner. Maybe she wrote the meeting details incorrectly in her frenzied preparations last night. But no - the page clearly said ‘Renova Steakhouse, 9am Tuesday, ask for Zhang party.’ Chills trickled down Kayla’s spine even befor

CHAPTER FORTY THREE
Reynold sat down with his arms crossed, he had been in this position for a while now. And Jovian had been offered no choice but to observe in silence.Especially, since the coldness between the two of them had not been addressed since he caused trouble in the gym.Jovian stood behind him, as ever silent as a stereotypic bodyguard can be… but he was no nothing stereotypic.“Uhm… uh… are we not going to the gym today?”Reynold's lost eyes creased to a frown. He stood and turned to the young lad.“The gym? Are you asking me that.”Jovian lowered his head immediately.“I'm sorry. I was thoughtless and it was wrong of me.”“Hmm… forget about that. Something else bothers me.” Reynold intoned, looking around the house like he was searching for something.“What… is bothering you?” Jovian inquired carefully, stealing glances at his boss’ blank face.Reynold lingered a few moments, his brows then furrowed and he shot a resolved gaze to Jovian.“Jovian.”“Yes sir.”“There is something both of us

CHAPTER FORTY FOUR
Reynold slowly walked the paved roads of the hospital backyard, sidelined by red and yellow flowers that brought a soothing sweet smell to his lungs. Beside him was a lady in patterned hospital wear, walking with the support of a single-leggef metallic rod.Perhaps it was because of her that Reynold kept his pace controlled.“So, Tia tells me this your wife has been gracious to us.”Her voice was slithery, dancing with ease on the note of her tone. Perhaps if there was a little bit of melody added, everything that came out of her mouth could have been music. It's amazing that a woman of her age still had a beautiful voice as this. Although for Reynold it was very regrettable that he wasn't the one that inherited this voice. He smiled and lowered his head as he responded to her, barely managing to distract himself from her pleasant voice.“Kayla is great. She's cool.”She looked up to her son, clearly reading the frolicking behind the lines of his shy smile.“Kayla is great. She's cool

His mother’s question threw him off for a second but Reynold soon recovered. “Well, I do have plans to do that, you know… it’s just that she's working a very busy schedule right now. But once she’s done, I am definitely going to bring her around.”“You better.” She said with a corner of her lips lightly curling. The two slowly walked back to her hospital room, trailing back their paths between the garden of flowers, crazed patients who didn't mind kissing on the bench out in the open, and a man that often tends to meditate, anywhere.“I think they fell in love with each other while in the hospital, Tia told me all about it. The guy is a little bit crazy and the lady had kinda been a reason why his treatments have been working.”“Oh wow…” Reynold was surprised. He smiled, walking and holding his mother's hand.“Isn't it funny how love can work sometimes.” She peeked into his eyes, obviously finding something in it.“What?”“Maybe there's some magic in it waiting to be found by you.”H

CHAPTER FORTY SIX
Reynold's jaw tightened as he watched Kayla find trouble going to sleep. She turned and curled several times, the worries that she carried were very obvious, almost permeating the air itself. His shoulders was rigid with stress and he hated feeling powerless while her world crashed down. There had to be more he could do rather than watching her fruitlessly try to mitigate the damage. After a few minutes, she managed to stay calm within the thick sheets of her bed, and giving her one last furtive glance, he walked out of the door and slowly closed it, making sure it made no sound. Then he went downstairs, by that time Jovian was already in the sitting room. In a low tone, Jovian asked. “Is everything okay?” His question was met by a few minutes of silence from Reynold. Then he raised his head and looked at him. “Something is wrong. And I need to investigate it…” a frown formed on his face. At first, he had overlooked the pos

CHAPTER FORTY SEVEN
After all that had happened, any other person would have been battered, bruised perhaps broken even. Not that Kayla was some sort of super goddess, she just was very resilient in a lot of ways. Some of those ways often tend to be full of surprises, it's no surprise why her brothers consider her a very dangerous subject even though she was female and all their family principles favors them more. Deep in their hearts, they know how unstoppable this sibling of theirs could be.Kayla moderately marched forward, the stoned determination in her eyes shielded by a black shade, and a scarf was loosely tied over her head, around her neck. She wore a tight pair of faded jeans that accentuated her hips… but not much of it could be adorned because of the baggy sweatshirt she wore– which covered her upper butt.Still, whatever was of her was a feast to the eyes of men, both single and married. She walked alone, nonchalantly treading the grand floor of the airport. The attendant stopped her but, sh

CHAPTER FORTY EIGHT
Reynold and Jovian began to look through the documents they had retrieved from the company. At first, it was a pile of junks, some work papers and documents, however one thing that was interesting or that linked all these documents together and made Reynold so fascinated was the fact that there was one shady means linking to another, everything was just begging to be revealed.‘These guys are cowards… cowards, real one.’ Reynold scoffed and shook his head as he continued what he was doing. While those facts and weaknesses he found were useful, they weren't what he wanted. After a few hours the turning point emerged - several large critical servers suffered a systematic crash. Originally believed to be a freak technical glitch, the outages corrupted datasets delaying merger financials Kayla's team relied on.Digging deeper, Rey uncovered the crash fingerprints pointing to a remotely triggered attack - someone with high level network access had intentionally taken those servers offline

CHAPTER FORTY NINE
Late in the night, two pairs of feet slowly crawled the floor, moving with careful precision. Even though their slow strides were scattered and uncordinated, they still managed to keep themselves hidden in the darkness, like they had spent tens of years in it, mastering the core of it.Reynold and Jovian found themselves slipping through unfamiliar halls, and even though they had a target this time, it was still kind of difficult locating the said target. Prior to this time, Reynold, nor Jovian had been been to Kayla's company. With how edgy the young lady could be, Reynold had deliberately stayed as far away as he could manage. After a few trial and error entries, they finally got to what they were targeting. The IT department systems. While Reynold stood watch, Jovian worked quickly uploading spyware to department laptops. Since they were unable to discover who it was that had betrayed Kayla, Reynold suggested that they install the spyware into the systems of all the workers in the

CHAPTER FIFTY
In this city, morning was not like it usually would be. It was almost as if the ray of light came in later than it usually would or maybe Kayla was just too tired that she didn't notice it the moment it came. Also, there was no masculine, strong framed body lying beside her, no savoring odour soothing her nostrils. Everything about the morning was unfamiliar and if she'd admit… lonely. She didn't think she'd wake up in the morning and the first thing she'd be missing was the nice smell of her husband's food.Kayla stretched away the temptation to go to sleep, her body ached all over come this morning and the cold was kinda assaulting, although it was still at a point where she could mind not wearing anything thick. As she stood up to go to the bathroom, her phone rang. With great expectations and a sweet smile she picked it up, her smile getting even sweeter.“Hello baby,” her voice was seductively hoarse.“Hello, my love. How have you been? I'm sorry, I slept too early, I didn't chec
