Chapter 41
Kakashi joined in with the long line that queued beneath the figure of Tanya Flowers. He saw Jay from the corner of his eyes, he looked far from excited now. Kakashi sighed."Good day everyone" Tanya's hair covered her brows. Her crimson uniform was a perfect fit on her. She was beautiful, and it took Kakashi this long to see that."Good day teacher" Everyone in the line courtseyed with a bow.Her eyes scanned over the heads of all her students, searching for… oh, her eyes stopped at the sight of Kakashi. Her lips curved into a smile, leaving her dimples with nowhere to hide."Kakashi, move forward" Everyone's eyes on the line turned at once to the location where Kakashi stood. He looked back to see if anyone was behind him, but he was the last person on the line. He looked back at Tanya and pointed his finger to himself in deliberation of whether her instruction was directed at him."Yes. I believe your name is Kakashi?" A cold splash of water woke up Doctor Haishi from his sleep. His bones shivered and his breath took a break for a minute. His hands had been tied after confirmation of his being alive. It was morning and the raiders looked to join their colleagues that were in camp. They had gone for a day and they needed to get back to base.Yoda was left with a mixed feeling as he was excited to be the one who caught the spy but also worried about the punishment that awaited him for causing the potential death of a fellow raider of theirs. It was a death penalty, it wasn't negotiable. If anyone could get him out of the difficulty of the situation that posed him though, it would be Kokohashi."Great job yesterday." Kokohashi patted the shoulder of Yoda."I was just undertaking my duty" Yoda replied, elated."Drop the humility man, I know you love the attention. Just own it." "Hey." Kakashi didn't look up at the owner of the voice above him. He was on his on outside, he was in deep thought over how to go about the demon that resided within him."You know you can talk about whatever has kept you like this, right? You do not have to bear it alone. We are a family here. You can confide in me." Zoa added."I have a thousand year-old demon in my body." Kakashi voiced."Well, that's not a lot. I expected more than a thousand to be fair." Zoa caught Kakashi off guard."What did you just say?" Kakashi didn't expect what he had heard."Well, I expected more than a thousand or at least more than one demon." Zoa added, drinking the content of her cup."Um, what makes you think so highly of me?" Kakashi responded sarcastically."I think anyone who can survive the tornado jump must have something possessing them. In your own case, it's a demon. But hey, how are you surviving with a demon inside of you? I find that hard to comprehend. From what I have heard, it's almost

The journey was going on smoothly. The horses raced one another in a lovely display of sports and particularly, racing. By all accounts, they looked like they enjoyed the exercise. The master's horse halted as they passed through a town."We will stay here for the night." The master called out."We do not have any ally here, master. Why do you seek refuge among strangers?" The commander whispered to the master."We may not have an official ally from this town, but I have a favour owed to me. I'm yet to be repaid." The master kicked his horse in the direction he wanted. The soldiers, commander and Doctor Haishi followed suit. They rode for about an hour more before they stopped at the gate of the town."Are you from the neighbouring town?" A guard shouted from the top of the gate. His uniform was slightly different. His gown was a darker shade of red compared to other guards. His helmet also had a special design."Not really. I am from Godlinkers High." Master Yonda replied. The guards

The canteen was filled to the brim. The students congregated around the tables and seats. Zoa and Tanya were seated at their usual place. They saw Kakashi and Zoa enter with their plates in hand. Kakashi and Zoa moved in their direction once they sighted them. “Hey guys.” Zoa announced their arrival as she took a seat with her plate taking its position before her.Kakashi made way to the free seat left around the table. “Oh, shit.” Daichi Cho cursed under his breath as Kakashi closed in on the only available seat that was beside him. Kakashi saw the displeasure on Daichi’s face when he took the seat. ‘Well, there is no other place I can sea...t.’ He pondered as his eyes rested on Jay who sat alone. His stared longer than he should and Jay caught his eyes gazing. Kakashi broke off the eye contact as he felt uncomfortable.“Hey!” Kakashi was brought out of his reverie by Zoa’s call out. Tanya and Daichi joined Zoa in looking at him, expecting a reply to what he had been asked. Daich

“Hi,” A familiar voice called out to Kakashi. He turned and a smile plastered instantly on his face. His smile was reciprocated and Jay ran toward Kakashi with his outstretched arms. “Ugh,” Daichi rolled his eyes, expressing his irritation as Jay and Kakashi made up with a lasting hug. Zoa and Tanya chuckled. “We can give you a long hug too if you want you know” Zoa offered as she stretched her arms for Daichi to walk into. Daichi rolled his eyes again, leaving Tanya and Zoa laughing even more.Zoa Anju’s face took off its smiling facial muscles and replaced them with a flexible sadness that could pass as a frown. “Are you all right, Z?” Tanya noticed the immediate change in Zoa’s facial expression. “No. No, I’m not.” Zoa replied, almost in whispers.Daichi sat up in concern over what might have caused the sudden dour expression on Zoa’s face. Maybe he would need the hug now.“You know you can just tell me you need the hug from me you know? I am your friend; I will probably

The sky was turning pale and the light in its eyes waned. Kakashi watched the shadow disappear into the darkness, he wondered what that could have been. It could have been a student, but he felt it was something else. He had been through a lot these past few days. He didn’t rule out the possibility of what it was to be other than a student of Godlinkers High. He took another peek at the same place with a vain hope that whatever it was that disappeared into the night would come back into the light where it could be visible. He stood there a bit longer than he would have until it dawned on him that there was nothing there. ‘My eyes must have been playing tricks on me.’ He conceived. He used the back of his thumbs to rub his eyes, before taking his after one last look.“Hey, where have you been?” The unbalanced inhalation and exhalation of Jay’s breath, as well as the moistness of his forehead, suggested he had been out looking for him. “Not far away. Why?” Kakashi didn’t think he was

“You do not plan to leave right now, do you?” The emperor asked as Master Yonda dragged his chair even closer to the emperor.“No. No, of course not. Maybe before nightfall, we will proceed with our journey.” Master Yonda responded.“No. No, no Yonda, no. Your guards are filled up and they need to be entertained. They need to enjoy themselves.” The emperor voiced. “You have never been the type to enjoy the moments. You always see them as frivolities. You do not have fun. Do not force that on every other person please.” The emperor pleaded with Master Yonda. Master Yonda smiled, he reflected on the past and how they had been friends for so long. He cherished their friendship. “Thank you, dear friend. Your words are kind and your actions are kinder.” Master Yonda responded. “Truth is, I need your help.”“A place to rest your head, some whores to entertain you and keep you company with meat and wine? That is not a problem. I would love to give you all of that. You and your guards! All

Most of my remaining men died of flu and animal attacks. We got back at night. I sneaked into the palace to see my family. I was drunk from the bitter taste of loss and grief, but seeing my family would reduce the pain.” The emperor’s eyes had become red and narrow. Veins assembled on his face. “Or so I thought...” “The deadly flu plagued Yahuza Nation and other surrounding nations. The best sorcerers could not find the best spells to conquer the monstrosity posed by the plague, neither could the best healers find the scientific potions to heal people who caught the flu. It was an epidemic that ravaged the whole land. It was prevalent for long, damaging crops. This caused famine in the land. We had left for battle with a lot of food and drinks before the flu spread among the people. There was not enough food for families to feed their young ones; the people had to queue for a portion of food every day, for their families. A bowl of food Yonda, a bowl of food for a family for a day. A

"My daughter" The emperor repeated for the umpteenth time with his head now back up. He forced a smile that disappeared as soon as it flashed over his face."I told you I was about to lose my family. I hadn't even known what was going on between the prime minister and the queen. I went to war to protect my family. My daughter was the prize for victory. If I win, I keep her. If I lose…" The emperor paused to sniff and shake off the tears that formed in his eyes."If I lost, my daughter was going to be betrothed to the camp of the enemy. It wasn't an alliance, it was a souvenir of victory. I wish I hadn't. I wish there was another way. Again, I knew we had no chance without the prime minister. With him, however, we would have walked the battle in less than two nights on the field." The emperor may have successfully stopped the tears from rolling down, but he couldn't stop the tears from his voice."The Fire Nation had a prince who was about to take the throne. He needed a bride for his
