The hall became filled with loud chattering. Everyone was puzzled about what to believe. In just today, so many things have happened which were making everything so challenging to believe.

Though they wouldn’t dare to accuse grandmother of lying, why was it that her son-in-law was accusing her and calling her a liar? What is going on?

So many questions were running inside everyone's head in the hall. Caroline, who was the subject of the matter, had now spoken up, saying she was the one who secured the contract but not Linda.

Even the reporters who were now videoing Linda, live, were stuck on what to do. Their cameras were moving randomly and almost everyone was being captured instead.

“Are you calling my mother, a lair?” Rachel spoke up after a while and once again the hall went quiet. “Do you know that without her kindness you would have been nothing? You could have been a non-one and wouldn’t even get a chance to marry my stepdaughter” she added, taking the crowd's attention.

“What are you trying to do?” Stephen yelled in fright, as he couldn’t believe Whitman would give such an order.Though Stephen thought it could be a prank to chase him off, the way the men suddenly assembled around him was like they wanted to break his bones truly.“You wouldn’t want to dare with Samson's family. You won’t want to do this” he said again, looking around and looking for an opening to run off.Whitman was smiling as he heard what the lad was saying. The sight was so enjoyable but wasn’t complete yet until Stephen would be on the floor with a bleeding nose or maybe a twisted arm. Then perhaps he could realize someone like him could never temper with someone from Sterling Corporation.“I can have your bones broken and still pay the bills. Sadly, you will be the one screaming all through” Whitman said cheerfully and Stephen could feel the danger in his words. He wouldn’t want to imagine such happening to him, so immediately one of the men came at him, he rolled on the floor

The car drove into a massive mansion that made Harrison’s mouth hang open. He had seen so many, but this one was so unique. The walls alone felt like they were built with Diamonds. It had a special glow that showed how expensive the building itself was.Flowers were nicely arranged in a row leading to the entrance while a fountain was spraying water down on them. The view was just so magnificent that one might think the house was carved out of a movie.“Let’s go in,” Ramon said to both Harrison and Caroline, who were still overwhelmed by shock. They stood still, watching. Never had they seen something like this, except in movies. They could as well call that the most beautiful house they have ever seen.To intensify everything, Ramon leaned closer to Harrison when Caroline wasn’t looking his way and whispered into his ears.“This is yours. Just one of them” Ramon said, smiling while Harrison felt like he was struck by lightning. He could have doubted but having seen Sterling Corporati

“What are you not telling me?” Harrison said with a frown after sensing there was more to Ramon's attitude. It looked like he was hiding something.“I am sorry if I have bothered you, but as you know, since you haven't taken over the company I can't tell you everything,” Ramon said with his head bent low.“Is that so? You are as well telling me to leave” Harrison sneered.“Forgive me, young master. I won't dare tell you that. I am just a no-one. Without you, I won't even exist or even be here” Ramon paid his respect.Harrison saw there wasn't time to drag things on. Who knows, maybe what Ramon was taking too long to say because it wasn't something that could be easily spoken. They walked for a while in the vast sitting room that was accommodating so many expensive things. The massive sofas in the room were facing a transparent glass that was exposing the city. Though it was night, one could have a clear view of the city from there.Harrison hasn't seen all parts of the house, but with

Though it wasn't that convincing, because Harrison could never be above someone like Ramon, Caroline could only believe. It wouldn't make sense even if she forced herself to think that way.“Okay,” she said and both Harrison and Ramon released the breath they had been holding for long.Quickly Ramon stood up after playing the part well. He then looked behind Caroline and saw Lucas standing right there. Both men communicated through eye movement, and it looked like Ramon was blaming him for what happened.“We will be heading home now,” Harrison said quickly.“Okay, how about I offer you a ride?” Ramon offered.“No, you have done too much. At least bringing us here has lightened my wife's mood. I can't help but thank you so much” Harrison smiled.“It's fine. I only did what was right” Ramon replied.“We will take our leave then,” Harrison said and started walking towards the exit along with Caroline.Right before they hopped on the path, the old woman came in with a tray of food. Harrison felt dizzy. His body felt so weak, yet he felt like there were deep cuts on his body. After waking, he remembered exactly what happened and quickly wanted to take a stance to defend himself but after so much struggle he remained unmoving at a spot.Looking down at himself, he found a rope tied around him, restraining his movements. He tried and tried but to no avail. The rope was too strong for him to break free from. That aside, he looked around to examine where he was only to see he was in an abandoned warehouse. The place was so dark, but there was a little lamp hung up on the wall that was providing light to the place. The stench of rotten food filled the place, making his nose pungent.“Ahh, damn it!” Harrison cursed as the smell was so putridUnknown to him that his movement had alerted the figures who abducted him, and they came barging into the place thinking he had escaped. How? Did Ramon lie, so Harrison would accept the company? Harrison felt so lost in his thoughts.“Well, that doesn't concern me. Our father left all his property in your name. Part of it should be mine. I suggest you know what that means?” The man grumbled.Harrison could now tell what his main intentions were. The man before him wasn't seeking revenge but wealth. He wanted part of Sterling Corporation but if so, why not confront Ramon himself?“Why don’t you meet Ramon and leave me out of this?” Harrison sneered.“What?” The man was baffled by Harrison's reply. The end

“You must have thought you were way too smart to be dealt with. You got me so bad that I thought I was done for. I have never faced an opponent like you and for that, I’ll give you a ten. You are damn good!” Harrison said with a hint of mockery in his tone and Edward became pissed. However, he tried to think about what went wrong to make his plan fail and how it was so hard for him to figure out what was going on. In a thousand years, he would never expect someone as low as Ramon to be able to exceed him in intellectual strategy.“What? Don’t tell me you are spacing out at such times. And why weren’t you able to figure out what was going on? I mean, you have cameras watching, don't you?” Harrison said sarcastically.Edward felt pressured and it felt like the right time for Harrison to make it harder on him. After all, Harrison suffered the same fate earlier.“How did I not figure this out?” Edward finally said, scolding himself.“Because you are so dumb to notice.” Harrison fired at h

    A miscalculated plan

Being indoors for a long while had made their senses a bit shaken off and when they had to adjust to a sudden brightness, they couldn’t help but blink their eyes multiple times.Everyone was shocked to see someone had walked into a room. An unknown someone they didn’t know but were so desperate to see his face, yet their sight was failing to adjust to the light. However, after the figure spoke, every single effect of the sudden brightness was washed off and replaced with curiosity.Starting from the leg, everyone scanned the figure from the toe, slowly heading to his face. When they arrived at the finish point, they all nearly fell on their backs.“Ramon?” Everyone yelled seemingly as though they had seen a ghost. It had to be a ghost right, or maybe their senses were playing tricks on them? They just couldn’t figure it out as their jaws were wide open, almost dropping to the floor.“Jesus Christ! What the hell is this?” Edward yelled, shaking his head from side to side to see if ever

    Boom!

Back inside the small cabin in the rural area.Edward and the others were seated on the couch watching the Television. They weren’t watching the news but something else. There were some wireless connected cameras fixed in some certain place while the television displayed each of those scenes that happened in each place Furthermore, there was a remote control in Edward’s hand, and he was able to make each scene that was showing in a mini spot on the screen occupy the whole screen, so everyone could have their view of what was happening.Right there, on the screen, it was showing that Harrison just walked into the hospital ward. Not only could Edward and the others watch what was going on, but they were able to hear the conversation that was going on.Meanwhile, Larry who was seated at the far end of the room was enjoying the show the most since he was the one who delivered the flower directly to her. He played his part so well that she was unable to recognize him. Of course, he was pu

    Strange flowers

“Linda right?” Caroline asked, and the delivery man nodded at her before handing the flowers to her. She extended her hand and grabbed the vase. It was such a perfect piece as it had an ancient drawing sculptured on it. The material looked like glass, yet it was made of wood. The way it was polished alone was unique and must be a very costly piece. At once glance, Caroline took notice of it but what she was more invested about was how nice the flowers were. She couldn't resist the urge to dip her nose into it and allow the fragrance to waft into her nostrils.Bang!Just then the door was pushed open and Lucas pushed his head in. The moment he saw her with flowers he was shocked as he knew it wasn't there before and it wasn't like he saw anyone bring it in.That was when Caroline pulled out of the enjoyable feeling she was in. Her mind ran back to the lad who brought the flowers, and she wanted to thank him but after looking she noticed he was nowhere to be found. Rather, there was Lu

    An apology

“Hello sis, how are you doing?” Linda's voice rang through the phone as soon as the call was picked up, and the receiver was left in shock. It took a while and there was no response. Nervously, Linda peeked glances at the phone to see if it was disconnected, but it wasn't.“Caroline? Are you there?” She called out again before a reply came through.“What do you want?” Caroline replied seemingly disgusted. “Are you calling to make more trouble? Remember I don't have that time at the moment, please.” She concluded and wanted to end the call when Linda spoke.“I am sorry.” She said and shockingly, Caroline couldn't bring herself to hang up. The words she just heard were too good to be true, yet it didn't feel like she was dreaming.Linda just apologized? Caroline started doubting her senses. She was unable to let herself fall for such a trap like before. She had witnessed too much and it was energy draining. Her stepmother pointed a gun at her and would have killed her if not for a mira

    The callers intention

“Shit! The police department?” Whitman murmured the words out, as he would rather not be noticed by the caller. Moreover, everyone had their guard up thinking the place was surrounded by the police. There wasn’t any siren sound or any movement, so it must be an unnoticeable operation, right? Those were the thoughts that were running inside their heads as quickly Larry and Raymond took a peep at the window but there was no one outside. They felt a sigh of relief, but that didn’t quench their suspicion. They knew not to let their guard down. Never.“Yes, who am I speaking with?” Edward replied trying hard to keep his composure. He suddenly looked calm and collected like he wasn’t the same person who was nervous not long ago.Already he had speculated that whoever it was, it had to be someone who knew him. The number was private and after picking up, the caller said he was from the police department. After realizing all this, Edward wanted to laugh out loud, but he chose to play along fi

    Stand down

“What’s the meaning of this? Why are you pointing a gun at my head?” Whitman was shocked by the turn of events. He didn’t expect them to come to his house and threaten him.“You are his ally ain’t you? I’ve seen you a couple of times with that brat called Harrison. Who knows, maybe you are here working for him undercover.” Larry spits his suspicion while Raymond nods his head in support.“Stand down!” Edward snapped but was being ignored. “I said bring the gun down!” He said again and yet no one paid a listening ear to him.“It’s the opposite. I am working with Edward here to bring Harrison down.” Whitman explained.“What? Don’t be shitting me. You are the same person who gave out our hideout to Harrison, and you want us to believe you? You should talk fast before I put four bullets into your thick skull!” Larry threatened. The look on his face was so cold, signifying his threats wasn’t a bluff. Already, he had adjusted the gun and had his finger wrapped around the trigger button. Any

    Loyal to the young master

The tension became hot and it felt like air was sucked out of their lungs leaving them dry and vulnerable. That should be the time when they should bow their heads and beg for forgiveness, but the men didn’t look like they would.Though they were shocked by his words, there was no trace of fear radiating off them. It felt like they had gradually made up their minds to accept death.Noticing this, Whitman was quite stunned. He knew their loyalty was as tough as a rock, but in the face of death, anyone was supposed to shiver.Smiling, he pulled out a gun and cracked it, then pointed it at one of them.“Swear loyalty to me and I will spare your life.” He said instead as the thought of using them against Harrison would seem befitting to him.“Tch!” All the men spat at his face at once as though they were all in sync with each other. Their eyes were stern as they held nothing but disgust. If not for the fact that they were being tied, they would have lunged at him by now.“Wrap things up
