Chapter 9 Five years ago, Lorraine Hales Barksdale leveled her relationship with her husband, Avon Barksdale when she announced to him that she was pregnant. That they were having their own little family. Her husband received this news with great joy, he instantly became more affectionate towards her, showed her great and excessive love and enthusiasm. He made sure she was well fed, always provided for, and never left alone. Lorraine never felt the weight of her pregnancy throughout, her husband made it extremely easy for hera through. After she gave birth to a baby boy, the joy that shrouded the Barksdale family knew no bound. It was like the baby came in to signal a better start since Kory died and was gone, and everything else began to run smoothly. Sooner than expected, darkness descended and she got the news of her husband slipping to coma. As if that wasn’t enough, words got out that Lorraine was behind Kory Anders’ untimely demise and that led to her detainment in the city
Chapter 10 Avon first off took his kid to an ice cream store to get him a bountiful scoop, he also ordered all of Atlas’s favorite type of cookies. Afterwards, he took him to an amusement park in the city for some rides. He spent the entirety of his afternoon having fun with him. Atlas has not gotten familiar with him yet, but he seems to be enjoying his company, the same with Lorraine. They both were cheering up to his presence. Avon also took him to a gadgets store, particularly the kid’s section. He bought him a lot of mechanical toys, tablets, he got him a handful of stuffs to play with. Hours of fun later, they rode straight to the city’s station. Lorraine expected them to go home, but was confused when their ride came to halt in front of the station. “You should stay here little man, your mom and I will be right back,” Avon said to Atlas as he patted him on the back. He nodded, a smile on his face that highlighted his deep rosy dimples on both side of his cheeks. Avon peak
Chapter 11 Avon anticipated his arrival back home. Memories that circled events from five years back creaked in, when he took Kory in and trusted her. He’d thought she was really helpless, thought she was in a situation that mirrored his back when he was orphaned to become a lowlife civilian. The only difference was, he fell victim to schemes, and thought she’s a victim to human’s viciousness. Unbeknownst to him, she’s an ally; more than an ally even, she’s a deeper than a partner with his life’s antagonist. The one thing that surprised him however was how she managed to kill herself, and remain alive. The whole thing was confusing for Avon to break through and understand. Their ride soon pulled over at the driveway, one of the men in sight rushed over and opened the door for Avon. He stepped outside with his son carried in his arms, Lorraine on the other side had also stepped out. Castian who wasn’t that far away caught with Avon. “The guests are seated at the living room. I tr
Chapter 12Lorraine’s eyes blinked into a still motion when a sharp edge plunged into her stomach. Her lips parted into a slow gasp as pain sailed from the hit and straight into her body. Blood gushed out in heavy flow as her stance faltered. She fell to the floor in a slow thud, her shaky hands close to her stomach to feel the impact of the pain. Avon snapped back to his senses as he moved out of his frozen spot, he grabbed Frank’s neck from behind and twisted it effortlessly before he tossed his body to the other side of the room. He ran straight to where Lorraine was, and quickly settled her body in his arms. He examined the stab with vibrant fear in his eyes. He was a medical personnel for sometime during his life at the military, yet his brain found it hard to operate at the sight of his wife in pain. Muffled groans cracked out of her as her eyes rolled deep into her socket in anguish. “Breathe love, fuck! I told you not to come.” Avon steamed with panic as he looked around
Chapter 13 Lorraine finally woke up after six hours of her admission into the hospital. The cut on her abdomen has been patched up and cleanse, she also felt better than she did when she passed out in Avon’s arms. Her eyes glanced up and around the room, on an executive chair inside the room was Avon, seated with his eyes rested on the child he has asleep in his arms. Lorraine watched the sensual scene, and a little smile pulled open on her lips. She has doubted this strange man to be a danger to herself and her son, but he’s proven her wrong in a lot of ways. She even took a hit for him, the stab down her stomach was due to his presence. And here he is, by her side, with her child safe and asleep in his arms. In after so many years, Lorraine felt a pinch of happiness nudge her system, and that alone leveled her positivity. It does seems like the breeze of her life has changed, and it might be for the better. “You’re awake,” with his eyes fixed still on the kid, Avon said to a l
Chapter 14 It’s been two days already in the hospital, and Lorraine has been on the chatter to Avon that she’s fine and he needs to stop wasting money and discharge her. Avon only ignored her and smothered her instead with more and more hospitality, that weren’t just from him, but from everyone around him and the doctors or nurses in charge of Lorraine’s wellness. One of the doctors has finally assured Avon of Lorraine’s health, and he was now hundred percent sure Lorraine is fine enough for them to return home. “There’s a surprise waiting for you when we get home,” Avon said to Lorraine while in the car that sped decently through the city. Lorraine pouted, “Really?” She let out a soft chuckle. “You know you didn’t have to,” she added in a tender tone. “Do I also get a surprise?” Atlas stared up into Avon’s face excitedly, a wide smile on his face as he anticipated his response. Avon grinned, before he squeezed his face playfully. “The surprise might be for the both of you I gu
Chapter 15 Avon could only stare at the guards for answers cause there was no camera attached to monitor movements down here, that was the reason why he had guards all around. Say, the two dunderheads here saw nothing and flopped their post. What about the rest? They all had the same looks, creased faces with furrowed brows, coupled with the same answers that spoke of their cluelessness of the situation. Avon was livid, but masked it well with a blank face. His rage wasn’t directed too much at his men, rather at the fact that those two f*ckheads got away. “We’re really sorry, General,” one of the men mustered enough courage to apologize. Avon was unreadable, and his silence wasn’t helping the situation. They all feared what his judgement might be for what they did, he could have them replace those that escape or worse, degrade them to the first level. After all the news they’ve heard of the Dragon General, the kind of man he is, how scary he was depicted. And although he fits al
Chapter 16 Avon came back to his seat, the same time as those who tried to run away slowly crept back into their seats, fear exploded wide on their faces. “Meeting isn’t over or adjourned, and you guys wanted to leave?” Avon tsked as he shook his head disappointedly. “So does anyone have a thing to say about CG going solo? Speak now or forever bent to my will?” He looked around their faces. Their paled gazes, attached to a mask carved out of their fears. None of them could say a word or breathe in opposition, no one wants Frank’s brutal fate at the hands of the Dragon General to become theirs. “If that is the case, then can I get a nod from you that you all agree?” Myriads of positive nods followed Avon’s statement to prove they were in support of any moves he pulled, just to avoid a spot on his bad side. “Then meeting dismissed. However, before you all scurry on and out of here.” Avon stood up on his feet as he walked around the right side of the table, his figure and darkened
