Daisy Bradford

The nurse was taken aback by their dishevelled appearance, but her eyes couldn't help but brighten when she saw the three beautifully wrapped lunch boxes Justus was holding.

"Is the special lunch box from the south cafeteria really that special?" Azaria asked, initially sceptical about the hype, but surprised by the nurse’s enthusiasm.

"Oh, it's absolutely delicious. But it's quite impressive that you two, being first years, already know about it. Many students in their later years are unaware of this culinary legend," the nurse said with a smile, secretly admiring Justus's impeccable timing and execution.

Turning his head, Justus saw Lilyana standing there.

"Are you up already?" Justus asked, holding back a smile as he noticed Lilyana's hesitant expression.

Lilyana seemed to be a real person, which made it impossible for Justus to treat her as an NPC.

"Yes, I woke up when I heard your voice," Lilyana's voice became even softer, her fear of Justus evident as a reflex when she heard him. She flushed and lowered her head, feeling a little uncomfortable.

"Then come and sit here." Justus didn't pay much attention to Lilyana's delusional disorder and motioned for her to sit down.

Lilyana's face lit up with joy and she made her way to the sofa and joined the others.

Sitting together on the couch, they eagerly opened the lunch boxes to reveal the delicious surprises inside.

The combination of meat and vegetables was perfectly balanced, in keeping with the reputation of the South Canteen's top-of-the-range offerings, and the flavours were, of course, exceptional. This unassuming middle-aged man, who had once honed his culinary skills in the cafeteria, would eventually rise to become a world-renowned international chef, with people eagerly queuing to enjoy his creations.

Justus accidentally stumbled upon the identity of the chef behind those exquisite lunch boxes from his former life.

"You guys are really lucky. I'm stuck with instant noodles while you're enjoying these luxurious lunch boxes," exclaimed the Sister, unable to bear the sight. She promptly fetched some instant noodles and boiled water to prepare her own meal.

The three of them watched her in her pitiful state and eventually shared some of their food with her, making her feel a little better.

As the atmosphere in the lounge returned to its usual buzz, they all turned their attention to a girl in a school uniform standing nearby. Her lips were pursed and her eyes showed obvious displeasure.

"Come on, Daisy, join us for a meal," the nurse said.

Justus couldn't help glancing at Daisy Bradford a few times, while Lilyana watched her young master's reactions, trying to determine if there were twin brothers like Justus.

Justus looked at Daisy Bradford, Lilyana watched Justus, and Azaria watched the scene unfold, sensing that something was not quite right.

After the lunch boxes were finished, the room was still filled with the tantalising aroma of instant noodles. Although they felt satisfied, their bodies seemed to signal hunger again.

Regardless of the situation, Justus had successfully integrated himself into Azaria's future circle.

Lilyana became Azaria's secretary;

Daisy Bradford became Azaria's right hand;

As for the nurse, Justus regarded her as an ordinary NPC with no direct involvement in Azaria's future team.

However, the nurse's presence livened up the atmosphere, and even the usually reticent Daisy Bradford spoke up and briefly introduced herself and her class.

Soon after, Justus and the others shared their names as well, fostering a sense of camaraderie.

"Um... if there's a chance next time, could you get me a portion of that lunch box too?" Before they left, the nurse discreetly pulled Justus aside and made a request.

Justus didn't give a direct answer; there was no personal gain in currying the nurse's favour.

"If it's possible, please buy two portions," the nurse said to Justus, who remained silent, and then added another sentence.

"Isn't one portion enough for you?"

For an average person one portion would be more than enough, it might even be too much. The sister blushed intensely and explained with further embarrassment, "No, I just want my cousin to try it."

"Cousin?" Justus was even more confused. He couldn't understand why buying a lunch box would involve relatives.

"Daisy Bradford is my cousin. Her health isn't very good, so she's practically staying with me while she recovers," the nurse explained in a subdued voice. Justus finally understood. So that's why Daisy Bradford seemed so delicate; it wasn't just because of her passion for computer games, but because of her long illness.

Lilyana was a frequent visitor to the infirmary due to various bullying incidents, and as her friend, Azaria naturally came to check on her. It was only a matter of time before they met Daisy Bradford.

If Justus hadn't volunteered to go to the infirmary this time, he wouldn't have known that Azaria's group of allies had already formed in high school.

Once again, Justus reaffirmed his decision not to compete with Azaria.

"Justus, why are you leaving again?" The nurse had already walked a considerable distance, but Justus was still standing, reassessing his newly set goals. When he heard Azaria's call, he snapped out of it.

"Sorry, it's a bad habit of mine. As soon as I start thinking, I completely disregard my surroundings." It was indeed a habit of Justus's. He was always cautious, thinking that one wrong move could lead to total failure. But he never realised that no matter how he calculated and strategised, he couldn't escape fate.

Just before classes were due to start, Justus received a text message from the butler: "The trainer has been found and the suite has been purchased.

The coach referred to Lilyana's future self-defence instructor, while the purchased suite was the house next door to Azaria's. "Great, I'll pack up and move in within the next few days."

Seeing the steward's efficiency, Justus was very pleased.

"Justus, m-maybe we should consider visiting the neuroscience department," Lilyana suggested cautiously, feeling a bit concerned about Justus's unusual behaviour and wondering if the slap had affected him in any way.

"Why would we go to the neuroscience department? I'm perfectly fine!" Justus replied, his tone tinged with anger. He was showing his emotions, of course, without holding back.

Although afraid to continue the conversation, Lilyana couldn't help but glance at Justus from time to time, worried about the consequences of her earlier words.

Azaria, who had finished packing her things, saw two people sitting there, looking at each other in confusion. She turned around and asked, "What are you guys talking about?"

"Azaria, do you have any plans after school? Would you like to hang out with us for a while?"

Azaria paused for a moment and then replied, "I'll pass. You guys go ahead and have fun."

Recognizing Azaria's likely inability to agree, Justus chose not to press the matter further. Several years ago, Azaria had tragically lost her parents in a car accident, leading her to reside with extended family members. Out of her strong sense of pride, Azaria had willingly taken on all household responsibilities, making her return home a self-imposed duty.

Understanding Azaria's circumstances, Justus extended a friendly invitation, saying, "Even though we can't spend time together right now, would you be interested in joining us for a leisurely walk?”
