Chapter Four: Washington's Loyalty

Kai sat in the hospital waiting room, his mind consumed with worry for his sister, Krystal. The past few hours had been a whirlwind of anxiety and fear. After rushing Krystal to the hospital, the doctors had taken her into their care, working tirelessly to stabilize her condition.

As he waited, Kai's thoughts turned into his own health. He had undergone series of tests to determine if he had been infected by the C-20 Virus. The relief washed over him as he received the news that his tests came back negative. He was grateful that he had not contracted the virus, but his joy was overshadowed by the knowledge that Krystal was fighting the illness.

His mind went back to the past, as he remembers his conversation with one of the doctors.

"Kai, I'm sorry to inform you that Krystal has tested positive for C-20 Virus. Her condition is critical, and she is currently in an induced coma." the doctor informs him.

Kai's heart sank, and a wave of emotions washed over him. Fear, worry and sadness mingled within him.

"How... How is she, doctor? What are her chances of recovery?" he mustered all of his courage to ask those questions.

"We are doing everything we can to stabilize her condition. The C-20 virus has affected her severely, but we are monitoring her closely and providing her necessary treatment. At this point, it's difficult to determine her chances of recovery, but we will continue to fight with her." the doctor related.

"Please, do whatever it takes to save her. She and our Aunt Cecile are the only members of the family I have." Kai pleaded towards the doctor.

"We understand, Kai. We will do everything we can to help her. We have a dedicated team working on her case, and we will keep you updated on her progress."

Kai thanked the doctor, his voice filled with gratitude and desperation. He returned to his seat in the waiting room, his mind racing with thoughts and emotions.

Few hours have passed, Kai remained at the hospital, looking at the glass window where Krystal is isolated at a certain room. He is thankful to the medical team because they continued with their tireless efforts, working diligently to stabilize her condition and find a way to bring her back...

He knew that the road to recovery would be long and challenging, but he refused to lose faith. While he is watching over his sister, a familiar face appeared beside him. It was one of his fellow security staff to the President, who is looking serious and there was a sense of urgency on his face.

"Kai, I'm sorry to talk to you at this critical time, but there's something important I need to tell you. The President is personally asking for your appearance at the Begonia House. He wants to talk to you about a matter of utmost importance." his colleague made an announcement.

Kai's mind raced with conflicting emotions. He couldn't abandon his job, his duty to protect the President and his country. But he also couldn't ignore the desperate situation his sister was in.

"I understand."

"The president already knows about your sister's situation. He is the man of his word, and he promised that Miss Krystal will receive the best medical care." the man relayed the President's message.

Kai glanced at his sister one last time, as he finally made his decision.

"Alright, I trust you to take care of her. Please, keep me updated on her condition."

"Of course, Kai. We'll do everything in our power to support her recovery. Now, let's go. The President is waiting." the man stated.

Kai took a deep breath, steeling himself for the difficult decision he had made. He followed his colleague, leaving the hospital with a heavy heart but a sense of duty pulling him forward.

Begonia House.

Kai entered the President's office, his mind filled with a mix of apprehension and determination. President Willam Redford sat behind his desk, his expression serious, yet welcoming.

"Washington, thank you for coming. I understand the difficult situation you're in and I appreciate your dedication and loyalty. Please, have a seat.

Kai took a seat, his eyes fixed on the President, ready to listen and fulfill his responsibilities.

"I called you here because I have utmost trust in your abilities and dedication. Our country is facing a critical situation, and I need your expertise and commitment to help us navigate through it." the President started talking again.

Kai took a moment to absorb the President's words. He realized that his duty extended beyond his personal circumstances. He had a role to play in protecting and serving his country.

President Redford suddenly leaned forward on his desk, his expression serious and grave. He mentioned for Kai to come closer, his voice lowering to a hushed tone.

"Washington, what I'm about to share with you is of utmost importance. It is a matter of life and death for the country of South Marquina. From this moment forward, everything we discuss will be considered top secret. No one should know about our conversation, and any leak of this information will be deemed a treason, a betrayal, with severe consequences."

Kai's heart raced as he listened to the President's words. Concern, anxiety and a hint of fear washed over him, but he knew the weight of his duty as part of the Presidential Security Group.

"Mr. President, I understand the gravity of the situation. You have my solemn promise that I will uphold confidentiality of our conversation. I am prepared to face any consequences that may arise from this pact." he stated, his voice steady, but tinged with a sense of trepidation.

President Redford nodded in return, while looking satisfied with Kai's pledge.

"I appreciate your commitment, Kai. The information I'm about to share with you is crucial for the security and well-being of our nation. It concerns a covert operation that requires the utmost descretion and precision. Our enemies are watching, and any breach of this secrecy could put us all in danger, and the entire country as well." he continues on.
