Chapter 4. Come Back Stronger

Romaria seemed to start pressing many buttons on Dennis's phone and was ready to copy it as ordered. This kind of task was relatively easy for Romaria because, since working with the Rolin family, she had often been assigned espionage tasks like this.

As the evening approached, Dennis, who was still in the president's chair, welcomed Romaria. He glanced at the handbag behind his assistant's shoulder, guessing it was a flash drive containing CCTV recordings from Cleo's house that he needed. "You're fast,"

"Thank you, Sir. I'm used to doing secret tasks like this. You need to know that I had to play the recording first to make sure this cassette contains what you asked for."

Dennis nodded happily. It turned out to be very easy for him to get back at Cleo. "Oh, so you've confirmed the flash disk?"

Romaria immediately placed a small white cassette on Dennis's desk. "Yes, this is the right cassette. So what do you want me to do with this flash disk?"

Dennis cleared his throat and glanced at the whiteboard beside him. "Isn't Mr. Rollin also the owner of a television station?"

Romaria nodded firmly. "Yes, he is. Then?"

Dennis squeezed his fingers and then pushed the flash disk of Cleo's affair recordings back to Romaria. "Then give this to one of the gossip news reporters so they know the scandal of that shameless woman's affair with a teammate."

Romaria looked hesitant; she certainly didn't want any member of the team in this famous football club to be ruined because of their problems, although she also couldn't deny Dennis's sharp gaze staring at her. "Sir, do you want me to give this evidence to the television station?"

"Yes, do that. I want everyone in this club to understand that marriage status is sacred. So there should be no one behaving unethically in this team."

Romaria nodded and immediately went to the Rollin family television station and conveyed Dennis's intention, which was very dangerous for Cleo, a top model, and Cory, a football field star.

The gossip show producer looked delighted seeing the evidence brought by Romaria. He immediately shook the hand of Dennis's assistant tightly. "You've come at the right time, Romaria."

Romaria frowned. "Why is that, Producer?"

The Producer then recalled the events a few weeks ago when Cleo arrogantly walked on the catwalk and refused to be interviewed by the journalists waiting for Dennis's ex-wife backstage. "It's time for that woman to come down from the stage."

Romaria tried to make the Producer reconsider his plan. "Are you going to support our new president's request?"

"Yes, Romaria. Maybe this sounds bitter, but I don't want a star to forget that she still needs the media for her career development."

"Alright, then I'll wait for the draft news you're going to release, Producer. Make sure this news doesn't lead to our new Club President because I want all of this to go smoothly."

The Producer smiled. "I'll make it soon."

The day passed, and Dennis waited for the news he had prepared yesterday. His eyes kept staring at the TV screen, which, according to Romaria, would soon broadcast the news he wanted.

Dennis's wait ended when a gossip news reporter stood so gracefully on his television screen.

"Good morning. Our news opens with the affair of Cleo Smith with the star footballer of Vanguard Fire Club, Cory Anderson."

Dennis stood up from his seat and put his hands on his hips, facing the recording of Cleo's affair that would be a slap in the face to his ex-wife. "Are you satisfied, Cleo!"

Cory, who watched the unpleasant news first, immediately woke Cleo, who was still asleep at the time.

"Wake up, Cleo. Look at what's being aired on TV."

Cleo woke up with an annoyed face. "What, Cory? Why did you wake me up? I'm still very sleepy!"

Cory looked at Cleo angrily and then glanced out the window. "They're airing our intimate video on television. Who do you think dared to do that?"

Cleo, who was already fed up with Cory's words, then moved her body to sit next to the bed. "What do you mean by video? I don't understand!"

Cory then pointed to the television in front of them. "That, the CCTV video of us making love! Who do you think installed the surveillance camera in this house, Cleo? You couldn't possibly know!"

"What!"

Cleo stomped her foot on the floor and then glanced around the house, looking for the surveillance camera that she didn't know when it was installed. "I'm sure this is Dennis's doing!"

Cory looked frightened when that name was mentioned. His throat felt so dry, as if it were being stabbed from behind. "Dennis?"

Cleo sighed and then glanced at Cory, who looked stupid. Cleo was very annoyed; she knew this news would ruin her career in seconds. "Ah! Damn it! That man is annoying!"

Cory, whose knees trembled upon hearing Cleo's anger, could only fall onto the sofa. Cory had never imagined that the man who used to seem so weak in his eyes could be so cruel to his career. "So what do we do now?"

Cleo vigorously shook her head. "I don't know."

Cory fell silent upon hearing Cleo's words and felt useless at the moment. "Are we defeated?"

As Cory gave up, Cleo quickly got up and went to the bathroom to prepare to meet Dennis, who she still believed could quickly spin the scandalous news.

After getting ready, Cleo left Cory, who was still stunned on the sofa, because for her, she had to keep trying before it was too late.

Cleo then walked to her car. But unfortunately, before she could even start the engine, a horde of journalists who had been waiting for intercepted her vehicle. "Cleo, is it true that you're cheating on Cory?"

Cleo continued to cover her face from the blitz lights that kept hitting her face. "Damn it!"
