CHAPTER 2

Liam then suddenly burst into laughter, his laughter was filled with disbelief and mockery as if he couldn't fathom the audacity of Nathan's claim.

"How dare you think of impersonating Lord Cloud? You must be out of your mind, Nathan. Do you even realize the consequences of such a claim? I have seen Lord Cloud in person and you look nothing like him"

Vanessa's face contorted with anger as she turned to Nathan, If Lord Cloud heard that someone from the Wilson family dared to impersonate him, their family might not get the investment even worse he might wipe out their entire family! The Almighty Lord Cloud was not someone to joke with.

"You fool! Lord Cloud is not someone you can just impersonate. If he finds out, he could destroy everything we've worked so hard to build. Why do you keep bringing disgrace to our family?"

Nathan remained stoic, his voice firm. "I am not impersonating anyone. I am Lord Cloud."

But no one was taking him seriously, how could he be Lord Cloud when he has lived off the Wilson family for the past three years?

Claire immediately stepped forward and begged Liam her eyes pleading with him. "Please, Liam, Nathan hasn't been himself since the accident. He's been struggling with memory loss and confusion. We've been trying to help him recover."

Claire then turned to Nathan "Hurry up, take back what you said and apologize"

Nathan's expression hardened "Today was supposed to be a special day for us to celebrate, it has been ruined and now you want me to apologize to this man, he is not even worthy to stand before me"

"Who do you think you are?" Liam's face twisted into a snarl of fury as he lunged towards Nathan, his fists clenched tightly. "You delusional fool!" he spat, his voice thick with rage. "How dare you claim to be Lord Cloud? I'll teach you some manners!"

Nathan stood his ground, his eyes steady despite the storm brewing around him. He braced himself as Liam swung a punch at him, but Nathan swiftly dodged, his reflexes sharper than Liam anticipated.

Claire rushed forward, panic etched across her face. "Stop it, Liam! Please, don't do this! He is not worth your time"

Liam paused, his fist still clenched, his chest heaving with anger. He glared at Nathan who was standing composed and did not even move an inch, he then turned his eyes to Claire. "Get out of the way, Claire. This lunatic needs to be taught a lesson."

"He's not well, Liam," Claire pleaded, her voice desperate. "He has been through a lot. Hitting him won't solve anything. Please, for my sake let him go."

"Fine," Liam spat, reluctantly stepping back. He got into his car, and before driving off, rolled down the window. "But this isn't over, Nathan. You'd better watch yourself."

Immediately the car was out of sight Nathan felt a very heavy slap across his cheeks from Victoria's hand.

The sting of the slap echoed in the silence that followed, leaving Nathan momentarily stunned. Victoria's face was red with fury, and her eyes were blazing with anger

"How could you, Nathan?" she hissed, "Do you have any idea what you've just done? You've never contributed anything to our family and yet you want to destroy us!"

Nathan's eyes flashed with sudden intensity.

How could his in-laws, whom he had elevated from nothing, treat him with such disdain?

His only 'crime' had been supporting his family. "Everything this family has achieved in the last three years was because of me," Nathan stated, his voice low and steady.

Victoria scoffed, disbelief etched across her features. "You? What could you possibly have done to help this family? You've been nothing but a burden even before the accident."

Claire also lashed out at Nathan out of frustration "I have been carrying the weight of this family on my shoulder and you have done nothing to help and now you're claiming to be someone important, I am honestly ashamed of you Nathan, all my friends boast about their husbands, but mine is just... worthless"

Claire's words cut Nathan to the core, all the contracts and favors she thought she acquired on her own were due to his influence.

Victoria sneered at Nathan "It does not matter whether you have regained your memories, you will always be the worthless son-in-law of the Wilson family! Nothing you will ever do will change that!"

"Tomorrow is Grandfather's birthday and everyone is to be present, if you dare embarrass us there, I will ensure you regret it for the rest of your life," Victoria threatened as she glared at Nathan with disgust before storming into the house.

The hall of Grandfather's Wilson birthday party was filled with round tables draped in crisp white tablecloths, each adorned with floral centerpieces of roses and lilies. The crystal glassware gleamed in the ambient light, arranged meticulously for the guests.

Every corner of the room screamed luxury.

Throughout the hall, attendants moved gracefully, ensuring everything was in place and attending to the needs of the already arrived guests, all the members of the family were already seated including Grandfather Wilson.

As Nathan entered the hall, conversations abruptly halted and every gaze turned towards him with disdain, Nathan the useless son-in-law has arrived.

To everyone's surprise, Nathan boldly pulled out a chair to sit down.

Nathan's confidence seemed to pierce through the thick air of animosity. Nathan's eyes surveyed the room, noting the raised eyebrows and skeptical glances.

For the past year, Nathan had often been relegated to sitting on the floor, playing with a teddy bear during family gatherings. But today, he looked composed, wearing a sharp suit that made it clear he had recovered.

Before Nathan could take his seat, Ivan who was the eldest son of the family and was seated across the table immediately challenged Nathan "Hold on Nathan, how dare you sit among us?"
