Chapter 2

"Who are you? And how do you know my birthday?" Gerald asked in a confused tone and chuckled in surprise. The reason is that literally after the accident that bankrupted his family, no one in the world remembered his birthday, not even his wife, Harley.

"My name is Arnold Zummer," he said, introducing himself.

The name sounded familiar to Gerald's ears as if he had heard the name before, but he didn't know when or where. The handsome, reddish-haired man tried for a moment to remember the name Arnold Zummer in his head, but unfortunately he didn't know or remember who Arnold Zummer was.

 "Who are you?" Gerald asked.

"I am your grandfather's personal assistant, William Wayne. My purpose in calling you is to tell you that your grandfather wants to meet to hand over all of Wayne Corporation's ownership assets." Gerald found it difficult to swallow his own saliva when he heard the words of the man speaking on the other end of the phone.

The owner of Wayne Corporations inheriting the franchise company seems very impossible in this matter, of course Gerald doesn't believe it at all and thinks that Arnold Zummer is just an imposter who wants to take advantage of him.

"Hey! Come on, don't play with me. I know you're just a fraud, but before cheating, at least look at my data first because I'm just a homeless person. So please go and look for new prey who is richer than me," said Gerald in a tone. full of annoyance.

The thought of his father's hospital bills was making his head almost explode now, coupled with the presence of a stranger he didn't know claiming to be his grandfather's assistant and assuming that he was the heir to Wayne Corporations.

“This world has gone crazy! "There are various ways in which people find ways to survive," snorted Gerald.

"You're just not in a good condition, young master, but not at the moment." A soft voice came from the cellphone, Arnold answered Gerald's words casually.

"I don't need your money, even using my own money I can buy the Kyle Group for you." Gerald became even more inflamed when he heard Arnold's words.

"This person is very arrogant, even though he is just an imposter who causes a lot of trouble to society," thought Gerald to himself.

"If you don't believe me, come to the hospital where your father is being treated. In just fifteen minutes I will transfer your father to the greatest hospital in this city." Because he was too lazy to hear the fraudster's incoherent ramblings, Gerald immediately ended the call.

"You people don't have anything to do," grumbled Gerald, then continued his journey towards the hospital.

When he arrived at the hospital, Gerald walked quietly, hiding from the chase from the nurses who had been collecting hospital money from him for the past few days. Gerald continued to walk with slow steps, hiding when a nurse was about to pass him until he arrived at the door of his father's room, suddenly from behind Gerald was startled by a loud tap on his shoulder.

"What are you doing here?" said a man who patted Gerald on the shoulder. With a broken movement, Gerald turned his body and his eyes bulged to see that there were five nurses along with a middle-aged man and an old man in front of him.

"What are you doing here?" asked the old man with the black cane. Gerald became embarrassed when he saw the old man in front of him talking, scratching the nape of his neck, which didn't itch, and lowered his head deeply.

"Sorry, Grandpa," said Gerald, immediately making all the nurses in front of him startled simultaneously.

 "Grandpa?" they shouted together.

Yes, standing in front of them now is William Wayne, Gerald's grandfather and owner and founder of the Wayne Corporation, a famous and largest technology, automotive and real estate company on the West Island.

"It turns out you know me too?" said Grandpa Wayne irritably.

"Of course, I am," Gerald stopped and didn't continue, making the atmosphere there become very awkward for a moment. Until, the middle-aged man standing next to Wayne's grandfather came forward and said.

"Let me introduce myself, Arnold Zummer." Gerald glared at the man's words.

"So, you were the one who contacted me earlier?" asked Gerald while pointing with his index finger. Arnold Zummer's head nodded.

"I have moved your father to a more advanced hospital for more intensive treatment," he said.

"But why?" asked Gerald, still not understanding.

"Why do you say that? You don't want your father to get better? You can't even pay off the hospital arrears?" he quipped.

"What's that like, grandfather? Fifteen thousand dollars is not a small amount of money. If Chris hadn't slandered father, maybe I could afford even the most expensive doctor on the West Island." Gerald was very annoyed, his grandfather, whom he had met for the first time, seemed to be looking down on him.

"That's why you are not appreciated by your wife's family," said the grandfather and then suddenly walked away, leaving Gerald.

Even though he felt offended by his grandfather's words, Gerald followed his grandfather's steps from behind, leaving the nurses who were still amazed that a poor man like Gerald was the grandson of the richest man on West Island.

"Why did grandfather move father? Doesn't grandfather not care about my and father's whereabouts?" asked Gerald, still chasing his grandfather who was leaving the hospital.

"You insolent child. Your father is still my son, I know. You think I would have the heart to let him lie weak without treatment." Even though the relationship between the two sons and father had not been good for a long time, in William's heart, Gerald's father was still his first son who was so loved.

"Then why did grandfather leave us? Kicked father out of the house just because he married a mother who was a boutique keeper? Grandfather was embarrassed to have a poor daughter-in-law like mother?" Grandfather's footsteps stopped when he heard the question spoken by his first grandson. He then turned around and looked at Gerald with a meaningful gaze.

"Do not talk nonsense!" he said firmly and then stepped back out of the hospital to go to the hospital where his father was being treated.

His father was placed in the most expensive ward in the hospital and the fifteen thousand dollar bill was paid in full. Gerald could only be astonished and still couldn't believe that he had the blood of the richest person in West Island City.

"You don't need to worry anymore about the young master's expenses. Everything has been covered by the great master," said Arnold when giving him a receipt for payment of hospital fees.

Gerald's eyes blinked for a moment, then looked at Arnold who was standing in an expensive suit worth one million dollars in front of him and said.

"Is what you said about me inheriting grandfather's property true?" asked Gerald quietly.

"Before that, accept the wedding gift from the big master in this black card. You can use it for your needs and come tomorrow morning to Wayne Corporation to discuss the transfer of ownership." Gerald felt his heart beat so fast when he received the thin object.
