Once they got to the castle, the first person Jeremiah saw was Christabel.

“Young master!” The maid bowed her head.

The memo about Jeremiah not wanting to be called “My Lord” or “Lord Crimson” when spoken to had passed around the estate, so everyone who saw him addressed him as “Young Master”

“How was your training?” Christabel asked.

“It was fine. Finished a lot sooner than expected” Jeremiah replied as Christabel quickly greeted Obadiah who was right beside him.

“That’s great to hear. You really must be an excellent learner” Christabel smiled and Jeremiah, who always appreciated the compliment, chuckled.

“What were you about to do?” He asked her.

“Nothing at all. I was just walking around, hoping that I would run into you” she blushed.

Jeremiah raised a curious brow.

“Any reason why you wanted to run into me?” He asked, still oblivious to her feelings towards him.

Jeremiah had thought that the interest Christabel showed him when they first met was a result of Headmaid Elizabeth

I just wanted to talk to you about something” Jeremiah replied as he closed the door and walked over to the couch where Reginald was seated. The curious king groaned.“No problem son. "Where the hell is my rent, Jeremiah?!" Inside the poorly furnished living room of a one-bedroom apartment, the elderly landlord and his son glared at a young man who had tape, ribbons, and pieces of popped balloons all over his body. "But, Mister Owens, my rent hasn't expired yet and you know that. I still have a week until I have to renew, so why are you hassling me for it like this?" Jeremiah Garrick said with a confused look on his face. The landlord frowned."Did you forget that I gave you a one-week extension when you didn't have the money on time last month? That extension means that you owe me a week and I'm deducting it from the one you have left which means your rent expires today!" Jeremiah's eyes widened."That's not fair! You can't just decide to do something like that without first informing me about it. Even if my wife and I go around town and start begging everyone we see, it'll be impossible to make the rent within the amount of time you're giving me" Jeremiah comp

Jeremiah couldn't believe what he was seeing. It was like he was stuck in a nightmare and no matter how hard he tried, he wasn't able to wake up. On closer inspection, he realized that the man who was making love to his wife was none other than his former boss and owner of the Ludwig resort, Mr. Paul Ludwig. "What was that—?" Mary asked as she told Paul to hold on a moment and then checked what caused the noise she heard. To her surprise, she saw Jeremiah staring at her infidelity with grief in his eyes, and her mood immediately soured. "What are you doing here, Jeremiah?!" Mary asked angrily as she quickly got out from under Paul and covered herself with the bedsheet. "Mary, how could you do this to me?" Jeremiah sniffled. "Weren't we supposed to be celebrating our anniversary at home, so why are you here, in bed with Mister Paul?" Tears fell down Jeremiah's eyes. “Who the hell are you and how did you get in here?” Paul frowned at Jeremiah. “It’s my useless husband, that’s w

Jeremiah spent a whole ten minutes lying on the ground, not being able to believe that in less than a couple of minutes he had lost the only person that made him happy. "What do I do now? All the years I put into our relationship, trying my best to make her happy was all for nothing. If only I wasn’t a nobody who couldn’t afford to give her what she wanted—" Jeremiah said but was interrupted when his phone started ringing. "Who the hell is it this time?" Jeremiah grumbled and decided to ignore the call. After a few seconds, the call ended but then the phone started ringing again. Jeremiah got angry that the caller couldn’t take the hint to not call back. He sat up and took out his phone from his pocket so he could terminate the call. He was about to hit the terminate button but looked at the caller ID and his eyes widened. He quickly changed tunes and, instead, swiped to answer the call then he put the phone on his ear. "Good evening, nurse Victoria! I hope everything is alri

Jeremiah, who tried to cope with what he just heard, chuckled. “I’m sorry, doctor, but I don’t think I heard you properly. You said my mother is what—?“ Jeremiah said, trying his best to trick himself into not believing what Doctor Gabriel told him. Unfortunately, the sad expressions he saw on the doctor's and Nurse Victoria’s faces made it hard. "Doctor Gabriel, please stop joking,” Jeremiah said and then looked at Nurse Victoria beside him. "My mom is fine so tell Doctor Gabriel to stop lying to me. Please" Jeremiah pleaded but all he got from the nurse was the look of pity. "I'm sorry Mister Jeremiah, but as I said, her body was just too weak for the severity of the heart attack. Please accept my condolences" Doctor Gabriel lowered his head to Jeremiah. Jeremiah's eyes widened when the realization of his mother’s death finally sank in. Confused and lost about what to do, he looked at the Doctor and didn’t know what to say back. “I know this doesn’t ease your pain but

This cheap thing is what you thought a classy woman like me would like? Tell me, Jeremiah, how am I supposed to walk around with this nonsense around my neck?" She asked aggressively and Jeremiah grimaced."But you were singing how much you wanted it not too long ago, which is why I got it. What changed?” Jeremiah asked.“I did! My level has been upgraded, thanks to Paul, and even holding this thing makes my skin crawl. This is what I think of your stupid anniversary gift," she said then walked over to where the trash can was and threw the necklace inside. She smacked her tongue then returned to the couch to get her cardboard box of personal belongings and started heading for the door. No way any of this is real” he said as he continued to slap himself, but instead of waking up like he expected, all he got was a hot and stinging cheek. He changed tactics. “Maybe, it’s a mistake from my bank” Wanting to confirm, Jeremiah called the manager of the bank he uses and after a couple of seconds, the phone was answered. [“Hello?”] Jeremiah said hurriedly “Good evening, Mister Victor. This is Jeremiah Garrick, one of the customers of Polaris Bank and I got your number when I opened my account” [“Okay and why are you calling at this time of the night? Don’t you know I was about to go to bed?”] Jeremiah could hear the irritation in Victor’s voice but he understood where it was coming from. After all, even he would be annoyed if someone called him at that time of the night, so not feeling insulted by it, he pushed on. “I sincerely ap

  • CHAPTER 227

Jeremiah repeated the imprint spell wordlessly, making sure he imprinted squishiness to the pebble in his hand.Watching closely, Obadiah observed that there was no ounce of mana spoilage, as expected, showing how much Jeremiah had grown as a mage in just the span of an hour.In fact, Jeremiah had improved so much so quickly that the shaman couldn’t help but feel amazed— making him wonder if Jeremiah was the fastest mage to learn and improve their magic in the history of mankind.Jeremiah finally finished the spell with a calm exhale. “Alright, young master. Let’s see if it worked” Obadiah said. Jeremiah nodded then raised the pebble to a good height— holding it between his thumb and index fingers just as how Obadiah had done before— then he gently applied pressure.Without putting up a fight, the pebble compressed into itself and a proud smirk appeared on Jeremiah’s lips. “Congratulations, young master, you’ve mastered the basic form of the imprint spell.” Obadiah said. The point

  • CHAPTER 226

Obadiah couldn’t believe what he had just witnessed.Did Jeremiah really just cast a spell without reciting the words? Which in the world of magic was known as a wordless spell. For years, mages had made fun of movies, shows, and books for inventing the idea of wordless spells because to them it was impossible to achieve the feeling necessary for casting a particular spell without reciting first the words. It was as if a mage’s body—capable of performing a feat as inconceivable as magic—was still limited by the need for words to activate it.So, for Jeremiah, a complete novice, to be able to accomplish what every other mage in the history of mankind couldn’t made Obadiah feel like it was a dream."Obadiah quickly walked up to Jeremiah to get a closer look while the young master went down to pick up the pebble he had just imprinted on. Do it again, young master," Obadiah said, wanting Jeremiah to drop the pebble once more so he could see up close whether the spell had truly worked or

  • CHAPTER 225

Jeremiah looked around for a pebble he could use to do the Imprint spell and soon enough he found one.It was the same size and nearly the same shape as the one Obadiah had used in his earlier example— which he had purposely chosen because he didn’t want an excuse for why he failed the spell to be because of something as silly as the build of the pebble. He walked over to where it was and picked it up.Seeing the pebble from the distance, Obadiah said “That’s a good one, young master.”“Thank you, teacher” Jeremiah smirked and then returned to where he used to stand— at which time Obadiah had already found another pebble to use and teach Jeremiah the spell properly.“Do you remember the spell I used to make the imprint, young master?” Obadiah asked. Jeremiah shook his head.“Sorry, teacher. I was confused about what you were doing so I didn’t pay attention until it was too late. Please show me again” He said bashfully.Obadiah smiled.“It’s fine, young master. That’s what I’m here fo

  • CHAPTER 224

Jeremiah met up with Obadiah at the greenhouse— the usual location for magic affairs— and they started his training program. The shaman started off with the basis— what was magic and how to turn mana into it.The explanation was very in-depth and thanks to Jeremiah being very intelligent, he was able to understand concepts he was just hearing for the first time. That made Obadiah happy because it meant that he would be able to teach Jeremiah a lot of things by the end of the day.Next, the shaman taught Jeremiah how to control his mana as that was the first step to performing magic. This was the first practical lesson they had so it wasn’t going to be as easy as the theoretical lesson. It took Jeremiah a couple of hours trying to get it down, but in the end he was able to successfully get his mana control down and now was ready to start doing magic.“You did great, young master” Obadiah said with a proud smile.“It’s all thanks to you, teacher” Jeremiah replied.“Now it’s time to te

Jeremiah looked at Obadiah and saw how tired the shaman was— making him feel bad because it was the result of trying to help him.“I think we should call it a day for today, teacher,” Jeremiah said.Obadiah exhaled and looked at Jeremiah— feeling lightheaded and a little dizzy. “I think you’re right, young master. I’m completely spent and need to rest” Obadiah said then lowered his head and chuckled. “Looks like I didn’t follow your advice and ended up overexerting myself”Looking at the shaman more intently, Jeremiah groaned.“Are you sure you’re going to be okay, really?” He asked— slight worry in his tone.Obadiah looked at Jeremiah with a confused grimace and asked “What do you mean, young master?” “Last time you looked this tired, it took a couple of days for your body to return to normal. I’m just a little worried that I’ve caused you to regress to that state once again” Jeremiah said, a concerned look on his face.Obadiah’s eyes blinked multiple times.Yes, he knew that Jerem

The staff was a few feet away from the shaman, and staring at it, Jeremiah realized that he had never seen Obadiah be more than five feet away from his staff, which makes a lot of sense because a tracker-blocking spell has a small area of effect.Obadiah must have created an artifact that has the tracker-blocking spell permanently active so that he doesn’t have to waste time and mana casting the spell himself. As long as he was within the perimeter of the spell's effective range he should be fine because the moment he stepped out of it— accidentally or intentionally— he would be pinpointed by Dark Emblem and they would sure as hell come for him. “It’s those bells on the staff in case you’re wondering,” Obadiah said and Jeremiah’s gaze focused on the jungle bells“Anyway, while concealing myself from their tracking spells, I cast my own spell to hijack their communication channels— which I helped create, hence why I can do it— and I listen for any news on if they have figured out my l
