Kay and Lily’s Investigation

Wellington's Holdings LLC.

Kay and Lily stepped out of car unto the sleek pavement of the Wellington's Holdings parking lot. They looked up at the towering building, it's glass and steel facade glinting in the sunlight.

"Let's go in. And I hope you know what to say, your grandma gave us this assignment because she decided to trust you so don't even try to blow this up," Kay said.

"I already know why we are here. You don't have to keep on reminding me, I'm not child. You and Grandma have always looked down on us no matter the good we do," Lily sighed.

Kay scoffed. "Good? Good, and you can't even control your husband. Nonsense!" He spat and walked into the company.

As they entered into the lobby, they were greeted by the receptionist.

"We are here to see Mr Abraham," Lily said.

"Do you have an appointment ma'am?"

"Yes."

"Okay ma'am. You can go up, he's less busy now."

"Thank you," Lily responded with a smile which the receptionist returned.

Lily knocked softly at the door and walked in with Kay behind her.

"Good day, Mr Abraham."

"Good day, Ms Brighton. What brings to my office?"

Lily glanced at her uncle.

Kay coughed slightly and said, "We came to talk to you about our contract application. You said you would get back to us in a month's time but it's over two months. Don't you like our application? We can draft out another one. "

"We know your company is a big one compared to ours and your demands and procedures might quite different from others. But we would be happy if you can consider us."

"Oh, I'm sorry Mr Brighton," Abraham said and leaned back on his chair. "Because of the recent happenings in the company which I'm sure you're aware of, we have been really busy to review contracts from small companies like yours."

Kay exchanged glances with Lily. He found the statement 'small companies' quite insulting even though it was the truth.

"We understand, Mr Abraham. I heard that a new chairman has been endorsed by the company and his name is quite familiar," Lily said.

Mr Abraham raised a brow. "What do you mean?"

"The day I came here with Eric Daniels, a man came here as well. His name was Dave as well and you were so respectful towards him so this Incident made us curious."

"Is this the main reason why you are here?"

Lily immediately shook her head. "No–"

"We are here to talk about Mr Dave," Kay said without batting an eyelid. "We want to know who he is and his qualifications."

"I'm sorry, Mr Brighton. That's a confidential information which has to kept away from the public," Mr Abraham said, his smile slowly disappearing from his face.

He had already gotten the clue. The main reason they were here were to talk about Dave but he had specifically instructed him not to reveal his identity to anyone and as if he knew, he had warned him about his wife's family.

Dave no longer saw Lily fit to be his wife anymore. She was a vile and materialistic woman, his life would be miserable with such a woman around him.

Although she seemed to be influenced by her family, Lily still had an eye for materialistic things and she was a woman without principles.

Kay's face darkened in disapproval. "Mr Abraham, Dave is Lily's ex husband and we are here to see him."

"Mr Brighton, stop pushing this any further. Mr Dave was never married in the first place, he just arrived from overseas and took over the company. He's a single man so what are you saying?"

"We're not buying that Mr Abraham, you're definitely hiding something!"

Lily immediately intervene by placing her hand on her uncle's. "Uncle Kay, don't be too hasty. Mr Abraham, I hope you aren't angry with our too many questions. We've only met with you before so we don't really know about Mr Dave and we would hope to learn more about him from you to calm us down that our contract is in reliable hands."

Abraham sighed and nodded. "Ms Brighton, you're sounding like the Wellingtons made a mistake or they don't know what they are doing. Besides, Mr Dave is their son."

"No, no! That's not what I meant. I just want to know his qualifications and skills and maybe you could give us an insight of who we're dealing with."

"Well, Mr Dave just came back from overseas and has an impressive record in business. He's quite innovative, forward thinking and has a keen eye for opportunity. In a just a short time, he has already made a significant impact on our company's growth."

"Lily, what are you doing?" Kay scolded. "This isn't why we came here. We didn't come here to learn about him."

"Mr Abraham, it will be in your best interest to tell us who Dave is. Like I said, a young man came here and his name's Dave as well and all these coincidences happened immediately he stepped in and now a Mr Dave is now the chairman of this company. This seems fishy."

Abraham glanced at Lily who was also expectantly staring at him for answers. "The Dave you saw was just a friend of master Brandon. Dave had helped master Brandon with a loaf of bread in his trying days before he was picked up by the Wellingtons and master Brandon saw it fit to repay him for that nice gesture."

"He sent him here to apply for a job."

"Yes, where is he now?"

"He has been given a job at the marketing department. He is to resume next week," Abraham responded.

"So that means Dave isn't around right now and he's not the chairman of the company," Lily said, looking at her uncle.

"Yes, and if we are done with this discussion which I suppose that we are. Can you both please excuse me? I'm very busy."

Lily sighed and walked out of the company with Kay.
