Chapter 10.

Jason smirked; what she didn't know was that it was his company, one of many others, and he had the power to help elevate her status in her family, but like all others, she didn't know what he was worth. The majority of them had looked down on him because he wasn't flamboyantly dressed like the elite; practically judging a book by its covers,

Faith was different; though she was reluctant to this union, she was willing to keep to her words, and he was going to do everything to help her out and prove herself to her grandmother.

He smiled at her and nodded, while her eyes glared slightly at him, she was wondering what could make him smile after making such a ridiculous statement,

Still, Jason smiled at her and nudged her slightly, his eyes twinkling as he watched her. He equally lowered his voice and responded,

"Just tell her."

He straightened himself to his full height, and smirked before he continued,

“I'll help you; I know a few people who can make it happen, the meeting, and more. Think about it, this will help your reputation with your family" he urged and Faith's brows creased, she had her misgivings but she nodded, it was worth a shot,

She heaved a deep sigh, swallowed a little, and wet her lips. She cast a glance at Jason, and he nodded encouragingly, her lips and fingers twitching, she glanced at her grandmother and summoned all the boldness that she could,

“I'm sorry Grandmother. But I'll prove myself and worth to you, I promise to do my best to get us in contact with the Greenlife Group"

Mrs Rita scoffed, she didn't believe in this project as it was far-fetched, their company though great, hadn't reached the level of being recognized by a huge company like Greenlife, but she wasn't going to let them see that,

“You think they'll listen to a child like you?! Don't be ridiculous, Faith! It's best if you forget about working in the Reynoldz Holdingz and concentrate on being the wife of a lowly jobless nobody! Or is he a cleaner?!”

She snarled with disdain, and Jason clenched his fist at the tears that dropped from Faith's eyes; he could hear her struggle not to sob out loud. He slid his palm into hers, and squeezed it, feeling energized by his touch, Faith swallowed and looked at her grandmother,

“I assure you that I'll get us an appointment as well as the contract Grandmother!"

Jason took that as an opportunity to add his,

"What will be the reward if she does make it happen?" He strode forward and jutted his chin at her, and Mrs Rita sneered. She wasn't going to let a lowlife embarrass her at her event,

“It's simple: Faith gets to remain in the company and also get promoted to the head of management” She equally jutted her chin while Faith snapped her head up, gaping at her grandmother.

That position wasn't a small one; their role was quite vast; they'd oversee everything and report directly to her grandmother; she beamed at the thought. That position could elevate her status and that of her family, and she absently wiped at the tears.

Jason broke into a smile and nodded. This was an easy task for him; he'd see that Faith got her deserved role; he hadn't forgotten the reason she had been at the bar; her grandmother had sidelined her, by choosing Michael over her, but this time, he was going to make sure she got it right.

He smirked at Mrs Rita and stretched his hand out,

“You've got yourself a deal"

She ignored his outstretched arm and hissed,

“You're.on.pauper!” she gritted out and turned to leave the room as she was filled with rage.

She knew Faith wasn't going to achieve whatever it was, but Jason's smugness and insults made her livid, and Faith was going to pay for that disrespect.
