The Aura of A War General

Lisa screamed too, as loud as James did. She couldn't believe what she had just seen.

Scott paid no attention to James or Lisa's screams. He twisted James around and grabbed his shirt collar, glaring at him as he spoke:

"Take my bracelet that you peed on, you motherfucker!"

James's face turned pale. His legs trembled. Suddenly, Scott seemed so terrifying. He was sure Scott would break his hand too if he didn't do what Scott demanded.

So, when Scott released his collar, James quickly extended his right hand into the trash can, rummaging through it until he found what he was looking for.

"H-here it is," James said, turning around, and showing the bracelet Scott was referring to.

Scott stared at the bracelet left by his late mother. In James's palm, the bracelet looked wet and dirty, and it reeked of urine.

Scott took a deep breath to control his anger. Honestly, he wanted to beat James to a pulp right now.

"Clean it! Lick it until the stench of your piss is gone!" Scott ordered.

James's eyes widened and his mouth dropped open. He had to lick the bracelet he had just peed on? That was a humiliation!

"Hurry up!" Scott snapped.

"O-o-okay. I-I'll clean it," James said, directing his eyes to the bracelet in his hand.

He was startled. He never expected Scott could be this frightening. From his body radiated the aura of a war general who had slaughtered thousands of enemy troops.

He brought his right hand closer to his mouth, pausing for a moment, almost gagging as the stench of the bracelet assaulted his nose.

But he had no other choice. He licked Scott's bracelet. He closed his eyes because of the disgust he felt.

James kept licking the bracelet, making sure every part of it was cleaned as Scott ordered. His eyes started to water. While continued licking the bracelet, he cried silently.

Seeing what James was doing, Lisa suddenly felt nauseous. She covered her mouth with her hand, quickly got off the bed, and ran to the sink.

There she vomited. She probably would never be able to kiss James again.

From outside the room, footsteps were heard. Since Scott hadn't closed the door earlier, he could see who was coming.

There were four people. Two of them were his former prospective in-laws. The rest were his former prospective brothers-in-law.

"What's going on here? What was that scream?!"asked Daniel, Lisa's father.

He and the others entered the room. They looked confused to see James licking the bracelet in his right hand without wearing pants, while Lisa was cleaning her mouth at the sink, almost naked.

"Lisa, my daughter! What happened to you?" asked Olivia, Lisa's mother, running to her.

Lisa, wiping her mouth with a tissue, turned to look at Olivia. She looked terrified. Her eyes showed an unbearable fear.

"Scott... He just broke James's fingers, Mom..."

"What?!!"

Olivia immediately turned to glare at Scott. The others did the same. Lucas and Jacob, Lisa's brothers, approached James and asked him to stop licking the bracelet.

Meanwhile, Daniel now stared at Scott coldly. His fists were clenched. He looked like an executioner ready to execute a death row inmate.

"Scott, explain what all this means! Is it true what my daughter just said?" Daniel asked, his tone sharp.

"Yes. What she said is true," Scott answered directly, sounding neither hesitant nor trying to hide anything.

Daniel stared at Scott, puzzled. Why wasn't this poor man trying to defend himself? What kind of criminal would easily admit his crime?

"You son-of-a-bitch! James is our honored guest. We respect him as much as we respect his father. How dare you hurt him this badly? Are you trying to get the Grandier family into trouble, huh?!"Daniel scolded.

"He deserved it," Scott responded quickly.

"What?!"

"I broke his fingers because he deserved it. First, he slept with Lisa on the day we were supposed to get married. Second, he peed on the precious bracelet that I gave to Lisa."

Daniel frowned, then looked at James. He was no longer licking the bracelet. Helped by Lucas and Jacob, James slowly put his pants back on.

And after that, Daniel looked at Lisa. Olivia had just sat Lisa on the edge of the bed. Now she was helping Lisa put her wedding dress back on.

"So what if Lisa slept with James on your wedding day? I told you, James is our honored guest. As long as Lisa wants to, James can sleep with her any day!"

"That's right! My daughter is free to do whatever she wants with whoever she wants. An insolent poor man like you has no right to forbid her. Remember that!" Olivia added.

"You're crazy, Scott!" Lucas joined in.

"Don't think you can walk away easily after what you did to James!" Jacob concluded.

Scott looked at these people with his eyebrows almost meeting in the middle.

Incredible. Even after he told them what had happened, they desperately defended Lisa and James and even threatened him.

These people would become his family? That was one of the funniest things ever in his life!

Meanwhile, James, seeing Lisa's family firmly defending him, began to regain his courage.

He straightened his back, looking at Scott while slightly lifting his chin.

Some fingers on his left hand still hurt terribly, causing him to grimace. He then pointed at Scott while sneering angrily.

"Watch out, you tramp! I'll have my father's men beat you to death! Just wait!" he shouted.

Scott barely twitched. Not a single bit of James's threat made him falter.

More footsteps were heard from outside the room. Those in the room reflexively turned to the open door. They saw Barnie, Daniel's youngest son, running towards them.

"Guys, you have to come to the hall right now. We have a very special guest: Mr. Lombard," he said after he stopped running.

"What did you say? Mr. Lombard, the richest man in the capital? He came a long way here?" Daniel asked.

"Yes, Dad," Barnie replied.

"Did we invite someone as important as him to today's wedding?" Daniel asked, looking at Olivia and his other children.

In unison, they all shook their heads. The wrinkles on Daniel's forehead deepened. If Lombard wasn't invited, then why did he bother attending this wedding?

"Dad, this is our chance," Lisa suddenly piped up. "If we entertain Mr. Lombard well, who knows, he might be interested in becoming our business partner. As I recall, James once told me that his father has a good relationship with Mr. Lombard. Right, James?"

All eyes turned to James. He was momentarily flustered before he said:

"Ah, yes. You know, my father is one of the most successful businessmen in this city. Of course, he is good friends with any respectable men, some of them are from the capital like Mr. Lombard. Later, I can try to convince him to invest in your company if you want."

"Really, James?" Olivia asked, her eyes sparkling.

"Yes, Auntie. I'll try to talk to him," James replied. "And I'll tell him just how terrible the man marrying Lisa today is!"

James glared at Scott with angry eyes but smiled as if sure the situation would turn around.

Scott returned his smile with a dismissive one.

"Okay. Let's go to the hall now!" Daniel said, sounding enthusiastic.
