• The Worse It Gets
Skyler and Elizabeth were hiding in their rooms, their backs pressed against the wall. Irene held out her fun, her vigilant eyes fixed on the door. Two strange men had broken into the house and there was no doubt that they were coming for Elizabeth and Skyler. Just then the shrill of a phone ringing filled the air and Skyler's eyes widened, it was her phone ringing. She immediately accepted the call so that the sound of the ringing would end. “I'll call you back,” Skyler whispered in a shaky voice and just before she could hang up a gunshot ripple through the air, making her flinch and drop the phone. The screen cracked up on impact to the ground and the phone went off instantly. Irene looked back at the two women tucking her gun behind her. “You two stay here, don't come out no matter what. I'll go check out what's going on outside.”Elizabeth and Skyler I wanted to stop her but they were defenseless either way, so they nodded. Irene stepped out of the room looking both ways b

• A Vow
Cyrus had his gun pointed at Ethan, but before he could pull the trigger the soldier who had rescued Ethan lunged forward, kicking the gun away from lord Cyrus's grip. The gun hit the floor with a clatter, and he and Cyrus began to struggle. “Go!” The man said to Ethan. Ethan was still skeptical, he wasn't just going to abandon this man here. Jax grabbed Ethan by the shoulder and pulled him backwards. “You can't stay here and try to fight, you can't win this, not like this.”Ethan wanted to argue, but he knew what Jax was saying was true. “C’mon let's go! We can still make it!” Ethan said, trying to reason with the man who was pinning Cyrus down. “Just go before the rest of them come here and kill all of us!”Without being left with much of a choice, Ethan and Jax had to make a run for it. “Do you have any idea where they kept the other men?” Ethan asked. “Sir I respect your decisions, we cannot rescue these men, not in our current state.”“I took an oath to protect them,” Ethan

Valerie quickly swerved her steering wheel sideways but it didn't stop the truck from colliding with her car. This caused her car to skid off road, and then somersault. She was thrusted forward but her seat belt yanked her backwards keeping her secure to the seat. Her world slanted and rotated several times as her car tumbled. The air bags were immediately deployed and for a moment it was a safe time had stopped. She couldn't feel anything, just the adrenaline coursing through her body. Her car finally came to a stop, and the truck driver had run off, not caring to stop and check if Valerie was still alright. Valerie could feel blood rushing towards her head and that was when she registered that her car was upside down. She tried to remove the seat belt but it was jammed. The small cuts on her face had begun to bleed out and all the windows were shattered.“Hello?” Keith's voice suddenly rang. From the corner of her eye she could see the glow of her phone. She remembered that she

• Figures From The Dark
Ethan was tethering close to the edge of the massive waterfall. There was no doubt that a fall from there would kill him instantly. Jax had managed to grab onto a rock which was very close to the riverbank and was managing to crawl his way out of the dangerous waters. Ethan was still being violently tugged by the water current. It seemed like all hope was lost for him until he managed to grab onto a large exposed tree root, coming from one of the trees that was growing by the river banks. He didn't let go, securing his arms around the road with all of his strength. The water continued to crash against his face, giving him little time to catch his breath in between. His lungs had begun to burn but he didn't care he just held on tight. He began to crawl, wrapping his legs around the road and inching forward towards the riverbank. Jax watched in anticipation on the other side with his heart in his mouth. Finally Ethan was able to make it to the riverbank and he immediately crashed a

Irene rushed to grab Skyler and pull her backwards. “Are you okay?” Irene asked, trying to look and see if Skyler had any visible injuries.Skyler got on her feet, pushing back the loose strands of her hair. “It's okay I'm fine,” she said and then she looked up at the burning car. The smoke was thick and black, increasing in size as the fire burned brighter. Tears pricked the corner of Skyler's eyes and they grew wide as she watched the car go off in flames. Some of the paramedics were holding Elizabeth who had completely broken down in their arms. “Valerie!” She cried as she watched the car burn. Everyone was convinced that Valerie was dead, burning inside the car. One of the paramedics who dared to move closer turned back to face the rest. “There's nobody in the car!” He yelled to his colleagues.Skyler's eyes immediately widened, and she began wiping her tears quickly. Elizabeth also stopped crying and was now interested in hearing what they had to say. Some other paramedics nea

• Back In Newcrest
Ethan's heart was in his mouth as his head turned in every direction. He instantly grew agitated, Jax who was beside him was also on his toes. Before Ethan could realize what was going on, a feminine figure stepped forward. That was when he finally understood that these soldiers were not the enemy.“Legion commander, I'm so glad we finally found you,” Lucy said, taking a small bow. Ethan could feel his muscles relax. He and Jax followed the soldiers to safety. “Lieutenant Jax, it's nice to see you again, alive,” Lucy said with a small grin. “It’s nice to be free,” he replied. As they walked, Ethan couldn't help but think about the other men who were still held captive in lord Cyrus's territory. “There’s still some other legionnaires in captivity, we have to rescue them,” he said to Lucy. “And I'll be coming with the troops that will be going on that mission.”Lucy's eyes widened and she shared his look with Jax, before turning to face Ethan. “You need to rest, you are not in good

• Adrenaline Surge
Valerie was at home lying on her bed. The news that Ethan had been found had not yet been published, mostly for personal reasons. He was not ready to start attending press conferences or granting interviews or even having the media people show up in his house. For now all he wanted to do was rest. She decided to get on her feet and head downstairs to grab something to bite. On her way down she immediately noticed that Clifford was seated at the dining table. She could already feel her stomach tighten as adrenaline surged through her, even though she was scared to admit it to herself, it was obvious that she hated this man. He was no more than a manipulator who only played the role of father when he was convenient for him or when he stood to gain something from her. When Clifford saw her, he spoke. “Valerie, your mum told me that you were only an accident, how did that happen?”Valerie had to suppress the urge to say something sarcastic. Couldn't he ask how she was doing?“It happ

• It Could Be A Trap
Lucy and her troops were trudging through the woods, their weapons pointed forward as they crouched and maneuvered the expanse of the forest almost in stealth. Now they were properly in lord Cyrus's territory, and anything could happen. The dogs were already sent out to sniff out any mines nearby. Lucy kept her eyes keen and sharp, following Jax's description they were not too far off from where the soldiers were held captive.“I found something!” a voice broke and they all turned to check. It was a bunch of ropes and footprints scattered all over the place. They were also other stuff like pieces of cloth.Lucy could only deduce that not too long ago a large number of soldiers were kept here. “They've moved them,” she said, her voice sounding bitter.“Let's just take to the skies, I'm sure we'll see them.”Lucy shook her head. “If they see us coming with jets they would probably harm the men, we're supposed to catch them by surprise not let them know we're coming. Plus, we can't per

• Not So Fast!
Lucy had to dive into the ground to dodge the onslaught of bullets that were flying their way. They were completely taken by surprise. The last thing they were prepared for was that the ivarian army would retaliate by attacking them through air fleets. The dreadland soldiers were scattered, trying to run for their lives as the enemy jets soared over them. Even the back up that Lucy had requested for earlier, were foot soldiers. “Retreat! Retreat!” Lucy ordered her men. This was a very foreign order to them, as the deadline legionnaires never gave up in the face of danger. The troops began to fall back and they were rushing towards their territory. Right beside Lucy's foot, just where she was standing, a tiny exclusive dropped with a thud. The man from earlier, Aaron, grabbed his bomb proof glass shield and placed it on top of the explosive and then laid on it. Lucy was dumbfounded by his display and before she could utter any word, the explosion went off. The force knocked her

• A Familiar Voice
Ethan cried out as he watched Lucy go down with Cyrus. He tried to leap forward to catch her, but he was too late, she had already fallen. For a moment he was frozen, unsure of how to react. He felt numb, and then soon self-guilt began to eat him up. How could he stand there and let this happen? An almost deafening silence settled upon everyone that was around the vicinity. Nobody had expected this to happen.Just when everybody had given up hope they heard a grunt coming from the edge of the cliff. An arm suddenly popped into their vision as it gripped the plants that were growing by the edge.Lucy hadn't fallen off the cliff, she managed to grab onto something while falling and she was dangling.Ethan immediately rushed forward and grabbed her hand, then pulled her up. “Thank goodness you're alive,” she said when she was standing on her own two feet. “I managed to grab onto a strong tree root protruding from the edge of the cliff, if it wasn't for that I'd have fallen and probably
